  1. It had a root canal and then capped- the root is cracked- and it is going to be a messy, involved extraction. Also it is infected- he has already been on antibiotics for 9 days- and the infection still isn't cleared up. The Dentist told Hubby that this is beyond his ability- and recommended he go to an oral surgeon. Funky: When it is all done, we will only be paying $50.00 total which is the co-pay. Delta insurance won't be paying the full $500+ either, they will pay a discounted amount that has been agreed upon when the Oral Surgeon agreed to accept Delta insurance clients.
  2. good grief- We drive 34 miles one way so Husband can go to the oral surgeon to have a tooth pulled. We get there a half hour early, he fills out all of the paper work, they make copies of his Medicare(Medicaid-whatever!!) and of his Delta insurance card. At five minutes past his appointment, he is taken back. A half hour later he is at the billing counter- with three Rx's. One for antibiotic, one for pain and one for a mouth wash. His tooth is still in his mouth. The Dr didn't even look in his mouth! Just asked him what he was there for. $58.00 it cost to be handed three Rx's- had to make the appointment to have the tooth extracted. That won't happen until Jan 16th! They wanted us to pay half the cost of extraction now- and pay the balance at the next appointment. $500 +- I asked them if that was the balance after Medicare/caid paid? Oh, they don't cover this. Well, then Delta does- what is our cost AFTER they pay? Oh, you have Delta? I didn't see that. Another 20 minutes goes by while we wait for her to re-figure the cost- Hubby goes to the bathroom and I am looking for a chair. Finally she figures out we do not pay anything in advance, that we will pay a copay of $50.00 at the next appointment, and that they will bill Delta. We ask that she call Delta, now, and get pre-approval. Oh, Delta offices are closed. Huh! it is only 1:45 PT- CALL. She did, requested pre-approval, Delta will get back to her within 10 business days. **made note to call Oral Surgeons office in 10 days to see if pre-approval came through** The next appointment is at 10:45 AM. I am not happy about that time, but we take it. IF it freezes the night before, it will take me twice as long to make the trip- lots of icy curves along the Oregon coast line. No way I want to skid over the edge and plunge into the ocean!! I will be praying for warmer (45 and above) weather, and possibly rain. The last oral surgeon I went to was in Corvallis, OR. That was over 15 years ago!Cost $89.00 to have a molar extracted. Times have changed.

    Soon to endowed

Go to the nearest Bee Hive clothing next to your temple. The ladies there will help to measure you and show you samples of the fabrics. Just saw that you are in Venezuela, on lds.org, click on Menu at the top, then on On Line Store. Scroll to the very bottom and click on Help. Then scroll till you get to Garment & Sacred Clothing, Click on Women's Tops. There will be a chart- find your measurements, and you will find the Church sizes. You will have to click back to get the bottoms and click back again to get Temple dresses. Talk with your RS President and your Temple Prep teacher- both should be more than able to help you. For question number 2- wash your own laundry, whites as well as colors. For just yourself, the garments will probably be a small load, do NOT use bleach, ever. You can use color safe bleach though. Excuse me, I just read question #2 for about the fourth time, and I am still compelled to ask - do you actually show your knickers off to your family members and friends???
  4. WHAT are you doing in his wallet???? You need to keep some things strictly your own. For men it is their wallet, for women it is the purse. And where in the world can you buy shoes for just $20.00???
  5. Because it is really popular. So many are abusing it though. According to the directions, you take 30 drops or 1/2 dropper full 15 minutes before you eat. You eat very little- no root vegetables, no carbs, no sodas or juices. You are only allowed 1 fruit serving (apple or orange only) a day. Use the drops for 30 days. Then for 30 days you can eat what you like. Then go back to the drops for another 30 days. My husband has gone on this diet twice, and is now doing it again. The diet claims that by only ingesting 500 calories a day, this forces your body to use up the stored fat. The first time he went on this diet, he injected the hCG. He did this for 6 weeks, then 'rested' for 2 weeks, then back to 6 weeks injecting. The weight he lost the first time, he put back on when he no longer could get the injections. The "Dr's" office was empty when he went to get his next vial of the stuff. Then he found it on-line- only this time you take it orally. Did it for 3 months straight. Again he did lose weight. BUT he affected his health doing so. When his Primary Care Dr. found out what he was doing, he told him to get off of it, and to go see the dietitian and do what she said, along with exercising. AND to get off the chips, cheese-its, soda, and canned spray cheese. ALL the weight he lost, he put back on plus an additional 50 pounds.
  6. Generally speaking if there are no children involved, or property to argue over, get yourself a paralegal to fill out the necessary forms and file for divorce. In Oregon, the paralegal I got only cost me $250 and I paid all the court fees (totalled about $260). Took 6 months total. You don't have to have your spouses permission, or even have her signature. It may take longer without her signing the papers. In Oregon the spouse can not serve the other with the divorce papers. I had run out of money to pay for a person to serve, so my paralegal did it. You have to pay CLOSE attention to the dates- don't file late! Had I known how easy, cheap and quick it would have been I would have done it 3 YEARS earlier. But I believe the lying jerk, and kept waiting for him to agree to the divorce. Go to your county courthouse, ask the receptionist where you get the packet of forms to file for divorce. Then DO IT!
  7. Nessa, Here is a link to some Satin Bolero jackets that I think would cover the subject and still be ultra feminine and modest View Satin Bolero by alexbridal on Etsy This one is nice Ivory sleeveless satin wedding bolero jacket shrug by alexbridal .
  8. Store brands have always been packaged & labeled by name brands. Back decades ago when the Middle Schools still taught Home Economics, we were taught how to shop for quality foods without paying for 'Name' brands. Read the label! See where and who packaged the product. I used to have all of the store brands done by name brands memorized- now, I just know that Fred Meyer Mayo is icky- Safeway's is good. Great Value peanut butter is bland, not even enough peanut taste to use in cooking - Albertson's/Fred Meyer/Safeway is great. Oh, and Western Family brands- most everything is good. Read the labels- compare to the pricer 'Name' brands. Just two weeks ago I purchased Safeway's Private Selection frozen Lasagna Entrée. Tastes the same as Stouffer's. Stouffer's sells for 12.99 for the 80 oz and seldom goes on sale or has manufactures coupons. Safeway PS normally sells for $10.99, was on sale for $8.99, used a store coupon and got it for $6.99. There was a limit of 3- so I got 3. Gave one to my neighbor, she has been gone for 7 weeks and her husband and teen boy ate nearly all of the food in freezer and they were short on $. That 80 oz. entrée fed them for two dinners and one lunch! I will only purchase Walmart's Great Value when it comes to non-food items. I have yet to figure out what name brand packages for them. Our Fred Meyer here just started carrying Home products. Got their TP, PTowels and Tissues (got a 30 count double roll TP for $4.99 on sale!!)goes for $8.99 regular price, they are 1/2, or more, than the price of Northern! As their other items come up for sale, I will try them. Fred Meyer has dropped the price of name brands in the last several months. Marie Callandar's frozen foods are 1/2 the price that any other store sells them for- NONE are over $3.00! Idahoan instant mashed potatoes in the envelopes are $1.00 each- used to be $1.39 each.Kraft Mayo/MWhip under $4.00 same with Hellman's. Ever since the local WalMart started construction to add the full grocery department, that is when FM prices dropped! It is so weird to have certain 'Name' brands the same price as FM store brands.
  9. What was so difficult? Who can perform the baptism: I.E.dunk the person- the priesthood holder must be at least 16 years old, AND hold the Aaronic Priesthood. To be the dunkee- any gender must be at least 12 years of age. Once when I went with the Youth to do baptisms for the dead, there were not enough Adult priesthood holders to do the dunking AND be witnesses. So they had the 16 &17 year old Priesthood holders do the dunking.
  10. I have only come across QFC in Washington state- Seattle to be exact. They are THE most expensive grocery to shop in. Even their sales cost more than regular price at Safeway, Albertson's or Thriftway's. There is one not three blocks from my sisters home, no way will she shop there. She will drive 1/2 mile to shop at the Safeway store. Fred Meyer near her is really run down and seedy. The vegetables are never very fresh and the meats -well, lets just say they should have been sold as Manager's Specials three days earlier. She shops there for the housewares, personal hygiene, NOT the food. When she does her BIG shopping, she shops at Costco, Penny Saver and there is another one that I can't remember- the warehouse stores. Three years ago just before Thanksgiving, I went with her and she spent over $600 on canned, boxed & bottled goods. Took the niece and two nephews nearly 30 minutes to unload the mini-van! We left her mini-van there, took my car and went and got take-out for dinner! No way either of us wanted to cook after spending 6 hours shopping.
  11. The minimum age of 16, Priests, can perform baptisms- Aaronic Priesthood* From: Baptisms for the Dead: What to Know Before You Go - New Era Apr. 2004 - new-era Who can be baptized for the dead? Any member of the Church who is at least 12 years old may be baptized for the dead. Young men must hold the priesthood. Most importantly, everyone who enters the house of the Lord must be worthy. You and your bishop or one of his counselors will determine your worthiness in an interview.
  12. In Arizona, there is a Fry's Electronics then there is the Fry's Marketplace (groceries & housewares, etc. Fry's aka Fred Meyer's, Kroeger, QFC. just to name a few. The one big difference between Fry's Marketplace and F.Meyer- NO clothes and no tools at the Marketplace. Can buy furniture there, garden decorations, bath, dishes, etc.
  13. Tempe, Mesa, Phoenix - They are all so close to each other they get lumped into Phoenix 'Area'. Husband retired from ASU- Central Plant, which is in Tempe- but he & everyone who worked with him all would say that they worked in Phoenix.
  14. I agree with Eowyn, but because of the ages of your children, I would put it on speaker and you and your wife listen in on ALL calls, and don't be shy about snatching up the receiver when she steps over the line. You are the parent, YOU hold stewardship over your children. If Mom can't behave herself, the consequences are- no contact for 3 months. If she does it again, then 6 months. Does it again, one year. Does it again, NEVER again.
  15. No, not really. For a while we had just Sister Missionaries here assigned to our Branch. Central Oregon Coast- Eugene OR Mission. They were here for about a year. There are times when an area needs the Sisters more than the Elders. My calling in the Branch is VT Coordinator- if you are female and want to be a visiting teacher you come to me or the RS President. The RS Pres then tells me the name of the sister & I then through the routes, assigned VTeachers and pray & PONDER who you should be paired with. I report to the RS President and she generally says: 'that looks good- go for it'. You will then get the "Official" paperwork, i.e. route with your companion, who you report to and the list of sisters you visit. Our Branch doesn't have a male counterpart to me. Our HP Quorum Leader is doing the HT assignments & routes with only his secretary to help. BIG, BIG job for him right now. The RS has a lot of insight into the families that really, really need HT- so the RS is more or less bombarding him with information. Our Membership Clerk is a wee bit behind in sending the RS information on new-to-the-Branch people/families and just as importantly those who have moved out AND have had their names removed from the records. The RS Secretary and myself generally are ahead of the Memb Clerk- He has to wait for the records to get to the Branch-officially. By the time the official records get here- we sisters already have the new sister assigned and are waiting for the go-ahead from the Brethren to send the VTeaching Letter to the sister. For example, in the last month we have had two new families move into the Branch. We had to wait three weeks for the records of one family to get here, and the second family their records took only one week (he was the memb clerk of his old ward, thus he sent them the last Sunday he was at his old ward). The sister who we had to wait 3 weeks for her records, is a young mother with 4 sons, husband is not a member, she also lives 21 miles from the meetinghouse. We assigned her Teachers shortly after she introduced herself in RS. I went and got her info before she went home that Sunday. BUT we had to wait until her records got at the Branch before we could pair her up with a companion. Our Branch has a history of the HT & the VT not doing their visiting. We also have a high number of in-actives- VT them is hard, they hedge, hem and haw about setting dates to be visited, then quite often won't answer the door when the HT &/or VT knocks. Our HT have only been here twice in the year we have been here. Once last Christmas, then again about two months later when I emailed one and asked if he could please stop by, we had three light bulbs that needed replaced and there was no way Husband or I could do it. Sad part is our HT is the 1st Counselor in the Branch Presidency! Converted- you really need to go to the HP Quorum Leader, give him your name, address and best times for a visit (day of the week & time of day), phone number(s) AND email address. Ask him to tell you who has been assigned as HT to you. If you are at Church, he can get that info right then. Then invite the HT to visit you. IF you can afford it, invite your HT and their wives over for dinner or dessert- that is what I had to do when I was single. I invited them to dessert with their wives- never had a problem after that!
  16. The stores in my area are all remodeling- WalMart is expanding into a Super Mega WalMart and they are all trying to keep up- so - the aisles are narrow. Only one cart can fit. Before I even go down an aisle I make sure that a) no one is there; b) if someone is there they are going the same way as I want to go; c) if they are coming towards me I go to a different aisle. Once I am in the aisle and someone starts towards me- I tell them to go around, I am not backing up. Once WalMart finishes the expansion (middle of 2012) I will be so very, very happy) That will force Fred Meyer to lower their food prices, and I can save even more money!!
  17. I buy the bags of salt at the store when they go on sale- around canning time, then I vacuum seal them. I pretty much vacuum seal nearly every thing. Keeps out the moisture and the bugs.
  18. I used to like dogs until I saw one eating the cat poo out of the litter box. AND eating up the cat vomit.
  19. That isn't gullible- that is downright mean. Shame on you. (where is the DISGUSTED graemlin!)
  20. I know you aren't active in Church, but you do have VTeachers don't you? If you don't, call the RS Pres and ask to have VT's assigned to you. Then before she hangs up, tell her that you are a new Mommy and have PPD and that you need helping Mommy's. When do you need the help the most: time of day? Then ask for some of the Sisters to come and be Aunts and Grannies for an hour or two a day. They can pass around an Auntie/Grannie sign up sheet for those hours EVERY day. Knowing that reliable help will be coming at 1PM and staying for 2 or 3 hours EVERY WEEK day, will give you the opportunity to flee to your bedroom to sleep, or go out to the library or do the grocery shopping. OR the RS Pres can personally ask 3 to 5 Sisters that she would trust her newborn with to help you out. Bini, don't be afraid or ashamed to ask for help. Allow the Sisters in your Ward to help you. Not only will you benefit from their help, so will they benefit by the blessings they will receive in their selfless service to you. You do not have to be active in Church to receive this help. We have a very young inactive sister who just had a baby in our Branch. She is not married, and is living with her Grandma (who is inactive too). When her VTeachers told us of her pregnancy and that they just are not prepared for the baby. We joined ranks, outfitted her nursery with gently used furniture, bedding, new cloth diapers (her request), baby clothes, books, toys. We also have a sign up sheet for sisters to go there twice a week to help with the laundry, house chores and to watch the darling little girl while Mommy and Grandma go to lunch and/or a movie. Some of our young mothers have her bring the baby to their homes, so she can go do shopping. The only unbending rule is she has to be back within 5 hours. She has never over stepped the time limit. Because of the support of the Branch, she has asked if this help can continue so that she can go to community college to get her High School Diploma. There are only a few of us who did not get a chance to sign up on the sheet. Hopefully next month I will be able to get a 4 hour time slot. We have not pressured her and Grandma to come to Church, nor would we ever make that a condition for continued help. We are just thrilled to be Aunties and Grammies!! Especially for us who never had children and whose siblings live too far away to see the nieces and nephews more than twice in a life time. PS: If I was in your Ward I would be honored to be a Helping Grammie.
  21. During my inactive years, my first husband and I owned a Tavern. During the first few years we had an old, abused pool table. We could never get it level and after we had it recovered once, knew it would never be repaired to be totally flat- too many dents in the slate. The foreign tourists (mostly bicyclists from Germany, France, etc.) and tourists from non-coastal areas of the US would attempt to play pool. It took the locals years to learn the 'lay' of the table. The tourists would ask what is wrong with this table? I would look out our huge picture windows overlooking the bay and ocean, take note if the tide was either coming in or going out and tell them: Oh, it's just the tide going out (if it was). Also when the tourists made note of the rainfall- especially when it was coming down in sheets- I would tell them - "Oh, that is just the tide coming in". There was this couple that had just moved here from western NY - here being central Oregon coast - and bought a house right on the river. This part of the river is still more in the bay and affected by the ocean tides. Every time they were in the house to check it out prior to purchasing it, the tide was in. They get all moved in, and don't pay any attention to what is happening outside their river facing windows. In the morning they wake up early, open the picture window drapes and . . . . . it is extremely low tide, the river looks empty. The husband calls the Realtor and demands to know who pulled the plug and emptied the canal. She told him to wait a few hours and it would fill up again. Happens twice a day. The emptying and filling of the river. I had three young men come into the Tavern, they were sitting at the bar looking out the windows at the bay and the ocean just beyond the sand spit. One of them asks what the name of that lake is? I look at him, then look outside- wondering if he means the bay? So I ask him where does he think there is a lake? He points out the window and says - see where that long thing is that is moving really slow not quite at the horizon? That is on the lake. Well what he was seeing was a German fishing-canning boat. They were headed into the next town - had to bring a few of their guys in to get medical help, that was why they were inside the 3 mile limit. Anyway, I told them that it was the Pacific Ocean, not a lake. He asked me what was on the other side of that Pacific Ocean Lake. I told him it was the Pacific Ocean, not a lake, and that it was Japan that was on the other side of it. Then I asked where were they from, Michigan they proudly said. Ah, said I. Nope, out yonder is the Pacific Ocean, not a lake. One of my regulars went out to his car and got his road atlas, had a picture of the world, showed them where they were and the Pacific Ocean. Their final comment on the subject was: Oh, guess we can't go swimming out there then.
  22. Actually it would be simpler for him to put j/k after his posts. I am sure I am not the only one who does not 'get' his humour.
  23. It is NOT a tpaper holder, this is a tpaper holder Shop toliet paper holders at Lowes.com: Search Results and here is the soap holder: ASI 7410-B, Soap Dish W/bar, Recessed, Bright# Also that is NOT a roll of paper towel. It is way too long for that.
  24. That is not a roll holder. It is an inset soap holder, the bar is for the wash cloth. On a real TP holder, the bar is in the middle- BUT it is amazing the human uses it as a tp holder! Or wants us to think that. The TPaper roll is probably cut and pushed onto the bar.
  25.
