Not all men have adam's apple. My husband doesn't and there is no doubting he is a dude.

It wasn't until I was in a ward in AZ- that I came to the conclusion that those members BIC (born in the church) had a distinct disadvantage. I was converted & baptized at age 14-went inactive at 18- reactivated after 30 years. For the most part, their testimonies were not their own. They were hanging onto the coat tails of their parents & grandparents testimonies. Yes, they were 'raised' in the Church. They were baptized at age 8 or 9. But they never Converted. At some point, all of the BIC's MUST convert. They MUST learn that Jesus Christ is their Savior, that Joseph Smith was God's Prophet of the restoration. They must nurture and gain their OWN testimony. What you, as an adult convert, feel after baptism & confirmation is far from what most BIC's feel at 8 or 9 after baptism. I barely remember my baptism at 14. I had the flu (discovered that two days later), and during my decades of inactivity, I was a heavy drinker and most of my memory is shot because of it). But I do remember being confirmed- and the elation, burning in the bosom, the still small voice, the all over the body goosebumps that I felt. This is also what I felt when I received my endowments at the Temple. By the time I left the Temple, I was so exhausted I was grateful I had not driven myself there (3 hour drive). I feel this every time I attend the Temple- so when I go solo, I get a motel room because I am too tired for the drive home. After reactivation, I was Primary 1st Councilor for four years in a small branch, and of course I witnessed many 8 & 9 years olds getting baptized and confirmed. Out of a dozen + only one 9 year old actually had a testimony and knew what he was doing. The rest were getting baptized to please every one else. It was a rite of passage more than anything else. From what I have read you don't feel worthy- that is where the fear is coming from. Have you discovered where you feel unworthy? Break it down, and address each point, as Idora says where I have quoted her. But address this with Heavenly Father first. Yep, take your written list, get behind closed doors, on your knees next to your bed. Talk with Father as though He were kneeling right next to you. Go point by point, express out loud each point, then pause for Father to talk to you and listen with your heart. Remember- Father knows your heart. He knows when you are dodging the truth - BUT you must voice it to Him, ask, out loud, for His help in strengthening you. Also banish the adversary- Say it out loud, Banish the adversary from me, in your prayers. I had to do this on a daily basis in every prayer, from the time I first started the preparedness lessons, until I stepped inside the Temple. Satan did NOT want to let go. I pray that you find the strength and confirmation that you are worthy.

It has been my observation that boys at the age of 8 or 9, no longer want to physically be hugged &/or kissed by the male parental unit - So I wouldn't be overly concerned about that- How long have you been married to present husband? Is present husband a hugger? My husband isn't, yet his next younger brother is. Me, I come from a family of huggers- male and female. We also bestow kisses on each other and all the children, but not if they pull back - then it is an 'Air Kiss'. If present husband is good with being in the circle at confirmation, then I say Go For It. I was greatly impressed when a young woman in my last ward was getting confirmed- she was 13, and her family were not members, the Bishop when he announced that she would be confirmed, he asked that any of the priesthood holders, who felt the Spirit moving them, to please join the circle. This was a ward of over 300 members, and 10 priesthood holders stood at the same time, my husband among them. So with the two missionaries, the three of the Bishopric, there were 15 men circled around this young lady. I had goosebumps all over for the rest of the block! (my personal sign the Holy Spirit is near, very near.) So, perhaps you and present husband can talk with your Bishop, relate the situation, and ask him to ask the priesthood holders in the congregation to join the circle. That way, exMIL and ex, if he attends Sacrament meeting, will see that the congregation is very supportive of your son.

If you are normally embarrassed to be dumbstruck, then today is truely a special day. Today, you can be dumbstruck like the rest of us without guilt or embarrassment. Origin of "Dumbstruck Day": We are totally dumbstruck that no one has stepped forward and claimed to be the creator of this day.

Will the confirmation take place immediately after baptism? Or on the following Sunday? Does ex attend church, same ward? Have the confirmation on the Sunday following the baptism, and have step-dad and grandpa, along with any other priesthood holders who feel the spirit nudging them, confirm him. If ex does attend, and throws a fit, it is on him and no one else, and he is going to have a LARGE audience to play to. On the other end of the stick, your son is going to have a LARGE support group backing and protecting him. BTW- I believe it is an Enabler rather than co-dependent.

March 14, 2011 Learn About Butterflies Day When : Always March 14th Today is Learn About Butterflies Day. It is fun day, because everyone likes butterflies. When we first heard about this special day, we thought...Oh, how cool! Butterflies are neat and fun to watch, flittering about the yard during the summer months. But, then we thought: Why hold Learn About Butterflies Day in March? There's logic to this. As we approach summer, we get outdoors and become busy with all of the activities of summer. It's far better to do a little learning in the winter, so we are prepared to better appreciate these colorful, winged creatures, as they re-appear in our backyards. In keeping with the spirit of this very special day, celebrate by learning a little more about the wide range of butterflies. Buy a Butterfly identification book, so you will know what butterflies inhabit your yard. Importantly, learn how to attract them to your yard. You can do this by planting flowers that they like. Origin of "Learn About Butterflies Day": Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. But, we did find lots of information about Butterflies. ============================================= National Potato Chip Day When : Always March 14th National Potato Chip Day celebrates the ever popular potato chip. Today is the birthday physicist Albert Einstein. Einstein was born on March 14, 1879. The date is also represented as 3.14. We strongly suspect some combination of these two facts is why someone created the day on March 14th. However, "Pi" was around long before Albert Einstein was born. Origin of "National Pi Day": Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. This is referred to as a "National" day. However, we did not find any congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day.

The Navajo Nation doesn't do Daylight Saving time either, nor some parts of Idaho. I absolutely hate it! This hatred stems from when I was in school. No matter what time of year, whether we were in school or on summer vacation, we had to be in bed at 8 PM. We could hear the neighborhood kids playing until 9:30 PM, and sometimes until 10:30 or 11 on Saturday nights. Parents barbecuing and citronella torches set up around the back yards. That is okay, we had to get up at 6:30 AM- so we were doing our chores outside and waking them up! That was the only reason I wanted to clean the car- Garden hose, spray the younger siblings, make them scream & yell!!
-
Everyone at Church had set their clocks ahead, too bad the clocks in the Branch were all one hour late!
-
Congratulations. Just wait, those slow cookers will really come in handy at a RS dinner or Ward Potluck- just you wait. Let the RS Pres know how many you have. My Best Friend has four huge roasters, without her, Thanksgiving and Easter would not be near as successful as they are.
-
Yep, plus it never really tastes that good to me. I would rather buy a roast, cook it myself and slice for french dips, sandwiches, etc. Same with ham. Deli counter lunch meats seem to go off flavor within a few days. I love Deli counter potato, pasta and cole slaw salads. However, those never last more than two days in my house. I LOVE them! I found a deli in the local Thriftway store that has bologna in the rolled loaf-(I buy a chunk of beef bologna and grind it up at home, in a pinch, beef hot dogs will work) For rainy days I love to grind the bologna in the meat grinder, add dill pickles, onions, miracle whip, mustard, dash of horseradish, salt & pepper to taste, then spread on lightly toasted bread and add loads of fresh spinach or leafy lettuce. Serve with tomato rice soup. Reminds me of being home from school on a rainy day. Only instead of bread, we would have it on half a lettuce leaf. Mom would save the bread for school lunches and Dad's work lunch's.
-
eeww, that is when the meat is spoiled and then you cook it.
-
Same for Oregon, do you also get rainbows in the puddles on the street? (note, I know that those puddle rainbows are caused by oil dripped by cars, but they are pretty anyway )

Johnny Appleseed Day When : March 11th and/or September 26th. Why two dates?......read on Johnny Appleseed Day honors one of America's great legends. Johnny Appleseed was a real person. John Chapman was among the American settlers who were captivated by the movement west across the continent. As Johnny Appleseed travelled west, he planted apple trees along the way, and sold trees to settlers. With every apple tree that was planted, the legend grew. A Little About the Legend: John Chapman (aka Johnny Appleseed) was born on September 26, 1774. He was a nurseryman who started out planting trees in western New York and Pennsylvania. During the life of John Chapman, the "West" was places like Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois. John Chapman was a deeply religious person He was known to preach during his travels. According to legend, Johny Appleseed led a simple life and wanted little. He rarely accepted money and often donated any money he received. It is believed that he died on March 11, 1845, from what was referred to as the "winter plague". The actual date of his death has been disputed. There is a lot of "legend" in stories written about Johny Appleseed. By it's definition, over the years, legends grow bigger than life. It also appears that there is some link between Johny Appleseed and very early Arbor Day celebrations. Celebrate today with an apple rich menu. Include fresh apples for snacks, and some applesauce or apple pie for dessert. And, make plans to plant an apple tree. Origin of "Johnny Appleseed Day": There is plenty of documentation to support claims for Johnny Appleseed Day on March 11th and on September 26th. We found no one who claims to have created this special day. So, here's the skinny on the two dates: John Chapman was born on September 26, 1774. This date is undisputed. It is believed he died on March 11, 1845. However, his date was not formally recorded and the date of death is disputed. Here is how we come out on the debate: This day should be celebrated on the day of his birth. His birth date is undisputed. His birthday coincides with the season of the apple harvest. A birth is a more positive day than a death. We think Johnny would agree. Worship of Tools Day When : Always March 11th There are few things that the male population worships more than his tools. To some, a tool is a natural extension of their arm. So, Worship of Tools Day is a logical day of celebration. And, it's definitely a guy thing. Please note however, there are more than a few ladies who love to work with their hands, and find today to be an important holiday. Need a birthday or Christmas gift idea for one of the "boys" in the family? You're never lacking for tool ideas when you visit the local hardware store. Celebrate today by working with tools, and buying a tool or two. Receiving a tool as a gift today, makes this truely a special day. Song of the Day: If I Had a Hammer Origin of "Worship of Tools Day": Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day.

March 9th Panic Day When : Always March 9th Try to stay calm. Take a deep breath. For today is Panic Day. Can you handle today? Good, we were worried for a moment. Hopefully, everything is going just swell in your life, and you have no need for this day. But, if problems and troubles are looming, try to hold off hitting the panic button until this day arrives. Don't worry. Don't fret. and, above all, don't panic. However, if ever there was a day to panic, today is that day. As you get through this unsettling day, you have another day to worry about.......International Panic Day. Origin of "Panic Day": Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. Perhaps they were too rushed and panicked to record their creation. March 10, 2011 Middle Name Pride Day When : Always March 10th Middle Name Pride Day honors the seldom used middle name that often sets you apart from others. It was selected with care, so you should be proud of it. Here's two big reasons to be proud of your middle name: First, there are plenty of John Smiths and and Mary Jones. It's the middle name your parents gave you that makes your name unique. Second, your parents chose your middle name with great care. It often was selected to honor a friend or relative. That person may have possessed certain characteristics that they want you to inherit. Do you know why your were given your middle name? If not, today's the day to find out. If it was in honor of someone, find out a little more about that person. We encourage you to enjoy your middle name on Middle Name Pride Day, and every day! Note: Middle Name Pride Day is uniquely different from Name Yourself Day. Origin of "Middle Name Pride Day": Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day.

Help! Is there an easy way to remove underarm stains?
Iggy replied to classylady's topic in Advice Board
Never tasted the stuff, but I do love the smell of it. We got our mouths washed out with brown soap. My uncle got it from a military surplus store- sometimes that soap burned your hands when you washed with it. THAT is what Dad washed our mouths out with- only he didn't have us take a bite, he wiped the soap on our tongues. Only did it once to me- I learn fast , plus I puked all over him: front of the pants, all over the front of his legs and his shoes. -

slaps forehead with palm- totally forgot about the fels-naptha- it will even take out crayon that has been dried onto the fabric. BUT it also requires elbow grease. Wear rubber gloves to protect your skin if you are doing a bunch of shirts. Anatess, you don't want to do the lemon juice to colored fabric- only whites. If the stains are on the cotton jersey garments, then she may want to check out the Ritz fabric dye-they have a product that will re-whiten whites. -
Mmm, blended all together with vanilla icecream and forget the seltzer water. That just might be good. OR better yet, Coke Ice Cream Float - to me that is better than a Root Beer Float. My oldest sister used to put milk in with kool-ade, she called it Cream of Kool-ade. She did it with non-citrus juices too. Bleah- I would rather use the juice as flavoring for a milk shake.

I forgot who it was who called those kind of prayers Turkey Prayers. Ever try to get a turkey to fly- toss them into the air and they hit the ground hard. Blueberry Pomegranate with a touch of seltzer? or something a wee bit stronger???

The only way smoking MJ is legal here in Oregon is if the Dr gives you a script for medical MJ. It is also illegal to grow the stuff UNLESS the Dr gives you a script and you go through a bunch of red tape to register to grow it, and it better be just enough for you, according to the Dr's script. Otherwise if you get caught you are going to get arrested. If it is less than an ounce, then you will get put into the system, and released on your own recognizance. If more than an ounce, you get put into the system, and when you go before the judge you will be given a bail amount to pay. Depending on what alerted the cops to your smoking, such as driving erratically, you just may not be given bail. I was trying to find the articles in our local newspaper for the court updates- to show that possession of MJ is illegal here in Oregon. BUT I don't want to pay for a year's subscription to the on line paper just to get to the Court Updates. Oh, by the way, if they are caught with MJ paraphernalia that has smoked MJ debris yet no MJ, they are still charged with possession. IF they are driving a vehicle and have these items in the car, then they are also charged with Driving While Under Intoxicating Substances. Izzy, if you want to tell someone, tell his Bishop. Unless he is inactive. Smoking anything whether from a bong or not, is not okay with the Church. Also, have you told him how you feel about the picture? Sometimes that kind of peer input is enough to "slap" some sense into someone.

May 21st!! Good grief! I won't have everything unpacked and put away by then! OH, that reminds me, I need to buy some of those small propane cannisters. Decided not to pack them in the truck. Had them for over 6 years, wonder if they would have still worked??? AND I left all of my glass hurricane lanterns behind also. They were full of oil, and again I didn't want to put them in the truck. Didn't have anything to put the lamp oil in. (mmmm, does this sound a bit like the 10 virgins?? only a wee bit skewed, mmmm) Oh, that reminds me, I need to purchase a few more glass loaf pans. {{squirrel}} Hey, did you see that squirrel????
-
Sorry for your loss, I too have lost nearly all of my family in the 58 years I have been alive, yet I have NEVER used that grief as an excuse to be rude, childish and churlish, especially on an internet forum. As Slam said, get over yourself. If you are not in the MOOD, then sign off the forum, turn off your computer, and don't come back until you are in the mood. BTW, please don't come back until you can behave like the adult you purport to be. I for one am sick and tired of your petulance. Not in the mood indeed! Bleah! Side note here: did anyone else notice that he put having trouble with a car as a priority over his aunt passing away?? Bleah, again and again and again.

In your profile you state you are 25 years old. How old is the daughter? Why have you not met the parents? How do you know the daughter. I'm just curious.
-
In other words you want them to end: In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. Taking out not only the 'thy' but also the 'son'. Because Thy Son refers to God's Son. Okay, that makes sense. "We ask this in the name of Thy Son, Jesus Christ, Amen" is for a prayer.
