  1. Speaking of parties and Super Tuesday, that also Mardi Gras time!!! Carnival in Rio too... Reminds me of the Daze of 47 Parade
  2. I'm looking forward to Super Tuesday, then Ash Wednesday the day after. Not too excited about Thursday, but TGIF.
  3. I found President Hinckley's admonitions for Mormons to treat non-mormons with dignity, respect and friendship, as well as his admonition against racism, to be particularly meaningful.
  4. I agree with that part about confusion with actual doctrine. Watch the above podcast and you will understand the precise details.
  5. I have seen them do the wave at football games but never at a funeral.
  6. Yes, I realize that Sami is the usual name - but whoever heard of a Sami Dance? Maybe these jokes get lost in the translation. BTW, Here is same Saami Music: YouTube - Sofia & Anna - Du Calmmit (your eyes) - 2000
  7. I have wondered if the main collective benefit was that of peculiarity. The individual benefits are obvious for not smoking and drinking alcohol to excess. If more peculiarity is ever needed, the Ministry of Silly Walks is but a footstep away:
  8. Elf, have you seen this podcast? I consider to be the best presentation of Blacks and the LDS Priesthood to date. I would invite all to view this so we could all be on the same wavelength. The information in this podcast may well surprise you, but it is excellently presented. http://www.mormonstories.org/blacksandtheldspriesthood/
  9. This may be a little naughty but it will give you a good idea how to handle telemarketers. Have a defibrillator handy. YouTube - Tom Mabe funny phone call
  10. I wonder how life for us Mormons would have been different if the WoW had remained as a suggestion?
  11. Start by finding or searching for an ancient artifact. That always makes for an interesting premise. Put the setting around 1890 to 1910, since that is an interesting time period. Weave in events and people from that time period.
  12. Speaking of Norway, how about the far north and Lappland? What is going on up there anyway? We always hear about their dancing. Is dancing a means of keeping warm up there?
  13. I wish his followers would abandon the maddness of Reverend Phelps and his daughter and link up instead with the Landover Baptist group. At least the Landover Baptist group never pickets funerals. You might want to google this group.
  14. The schools are the ones responsible for creating a safe environment while the students are there. They are the ones who need to enforce a get tough policy on bullying. No need to bemoan how parents should raise their kids - that cannot be affected by public policy. What we can do insist that our children have a safe and bully free environment in which to learn.
  15. This is a very important subject and a concern to all parents. Thank you for posting it.
  16. Yeah, I remember some of the nutty things my neighbors said when I was a kid based on this kind of thinking. They went door to door telling everybody that putting fluoride in the drinking water would render us into Communists. Obviously they themselves has overdosed on Ezra Taft! As far as the economy goes, we have piled up a staggering debt due mostly to the War in Iraq. Can we recover or at least keep treading water? We would need to end the war ASAP and work on reducing our balance of trade deficit.
  17. Public speaking is purely voluntary. I too have been wondering what to do if I was ever asked to speak. Fortunately, they seem to always ask the same people in some sort of random rotating order.
  18. BTW, gotta love PAD THAI!!!
  19. Was it Thai? Did the name sound something like Tom Kha Soup?
  20. Would choice 4 be the continued teachings of Jesus throughout the communities of this ancient world, that pre-dated any specific church or does this blend into choice 3?
  21. I feel very sad about this.
  22. What is the purpose of Ward Conference?
  23. As far as I know, there is no Cleon Benson McConkie. The name just sounded worthy of such a fictional book. However, this issue is real since many suggestions on what to do with "those people" frequently have a bottom line approach to casting them adrift from the help they may need.
  24. In this post StarTrek world, what do you think about the Multiphasic Sensor Array of Justice? Sounds much more sophisticated does it not? However, the Photon Cannon of Vengence still sounds too violent for a Celestial God of Love. Definately not something a Goodly Parent would keep on hand.
  25. I think it was in Cleon Benson McConkie's book, Why Burden Your Pocketbook with Ethics, that the suggestion was made for Conservatives to consider setting adrift the poor and destitute on the ice-flows of Canada. I was wondering if that idea has gathered any momentum here?
