  8. Joy to the World - Mannheim Steamroller Mannheim Steamroller: Angels We Have Heard on High Christmas Canon (Trans-Siberian Orchestra)
  9. Most of the people in my ward have been there for years. Most of us newcomers only know about 10-20% of them by name and visa versa. That makes it hard to ever talk when we see each other outside of Church - the best we can do is wave and perhaps say hi. I have been struck by the fact that we LDS do not do fellowshipping nearly as well as other Churches I have attended, but that is not really why a go to Church anyway. My pre-LDS friends suffice and I have met a few wonderful LDS friends on the Internet. I do of course realize that my fellow Mormons outside of Utah do a much better job with fellowshipping and friendship.
  10. <div align="center"> The White House Christmas tree bears some resemblance to the Sheliak from Star Trek. Perhaps this is the only working remnant of Reagan's Star Wars initiative.</div>
  11. I found this one the net and it sounded fun: Sound Reversal. Because it allows for the reversal of sounds, chiasmus has a special appeal to wordsmiths and others interested in the playful use of language: "I find Paul appealing and Peale appalling." -- Adlai Stevenson "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me Than a frontal lobotomy." -- Randy Hanzlick, title of song
  12. There are stars that will do what normal stars will not - they are called "Super Nova's" in our time and if a star super nova’ed within 600 light years of earth it would be quite bright and visible during the day - it's initial radiation could cause the ozone to fluoresce causing day like light (with no shadow) even after the sun had set. The Traveler Stars do not move to keep pace with Earth's rotation or orbit around the Sun.
  13. I will try to respond seriously to this one: I imagine a couple of Elders who have been specially screened will serve the Sacrament (prepared with White House bread and water) in the White House most Sundays.
  14. Maybe the no stems from a we don't teach that anymore, rather than it never existing, because I have heard about it repeatedly in the last several years. I support this change BTW.

  16. It is terribly unfortunate that skin color ever got associated with righteousness. However, we should do all that we can to distance ourselves from such an awful idea. Skin color has nothing whatsoever to do with curses. We need to acknowledge that and repudiate any claims to the contrary.
  17. The first year I started going back to Church I noticed one of the members taking his income tax returns in with him and that threw me off wanting to do this. I have avoided going into that meeting. I pay my tithing but don't want to be squeezed for my Christmas money too.
  18. My favorite is Dicken's A Christmas Carol. I especially like the Patrick Stewart version. Other favorites: It's A Wonderful Life Miracle on 34th Street A Christmas Story Mr. Krueger's Christmas
  19. Just be glad they do not go through the same elocutions as from the last century. We have lost our taste for the overly dramatic since that time. I imagine rehearsals are good since most people cannot speak from the cuff. Personally, I sometimes feel so parched for a good motivational Sunday talk. I love it when they do occur. In the mean time, I feel satisfied if they at least mention the name Jesus somewhere in their talk.
  20. 97? Wow, hope you get more that stewed prunes. Happy Birthday!
  21. A well designed ward website might actually attract potential members.
  22. ...like a box of chocolates that have been flash frozen and then fired off into outer space toward some unknown destination.
  23. Mormon Temple
  24. I would imagine these young Mormons may begin this challenge by issuing some strong exhortations on My Space and perhaps Zwinky. Who knows, maybe they will eventually find forums as MAD, LDSTalk and Beliefnet.
  25. I always liked ol' Ebenezer Scrooge much better after the visitation by the three Christmas Spirits. How about you?
