  1. Your days of freedom are numbered, but congratulations anyway.
  2. No. The term Heavenly Father is synonymous with God.
  3. Or a roll in the hay.
  4. You would need to reconcile this yourself, but have you not performed such a process many times in your life when you have used your own problem solving abilities? Many anwers in life are not known and in the past, some explanations furnished were incomplete or wrong. That is okay, since ours is a Church of continuing revelation and the correct answer will eventually come to the forefront. You are a thinker rather than a dogmatist, and the Church needs that.
  5. I think St. Augustine's saying that "all truths are God's truths", is a good one. The difficulty though is in separating truth from superstition.
  6. What exactly is matte?
  7. Did a google from this and found that it made the New York Times as a barbecue place. Must still have heavenly ribs. Okay you LDS.Netters heading to LA, remember to check this one out. :)
  8. Because it is what is right for you. Rejoice in it and do not worry about comparing yourself with others. :)
  9. My thinking is that God used the method of evolution via the In Vivo laboratory enclosure known as Earth. Rib capers? Who knows what those scamps at House of Ribs may have brewed up - hopefully some Carolina Honeys. Speaking of which, does anybody know if Mr. Jim's Rib Shack on Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles is still in business?
  10. Unfortunately the strivings of perfectionism are far from perfect, however I think there is a strong correlation between being overly demanding of yourself and being judgmental of others. Perfectionism is a form of obsession. When the zealotry it produces is rewarded by the Church or society, the problem increases.
  11. Since scriptures from the KJV are included in the BoM, perhaps that is why we don't move to and easier to read and more correctly translated version of the Bible. Has anyone tried the Message Bible/remix version Bible? It is my favorite. I have certainly found this to be true of the Message Bible. Also in Gospel Doctrine class, I was able to better grasp the meaning of the scriptures we were reading. It is nice when the Bible not read as an obscure and arcane document.
  12. Elf, on the bright side, at least your dog is not a finicky eater. He would be happier at McDonalds than Chez Maison. :)
  13. My guess is that there are relative degrees of modesty and the perception of what is considered modest changes over the years. Early Mormon women could not have this till modesty changed in 1900's. Today this would be laughed at on the beach or poolside.
  14. Just make sure you counterbalance those devilish thoughts with some angelic ones :):):)
  15. You could always view them as songs rather than a confession of faith. Just a thought....
  16. I know that Tierra del Fuego is a stop over for Antarctica. I also know that one of the beloved professors at MAD has been referred to before as being Pampas, although I don't know what he has to do with the prairies of Argentina. Additionally, Argentina was involved in some sort of scuffle over the Falkland Islands, no?
  17. Since you ask: 1. Let any unpleasant talk roll off you like water on a ducks back. Remain serene and pleasant. 2. Go to the party and have fun. Stick to the non-alcoholic beverages and remain nonjudgmental of those who do drink a glass of wine. Remember, these people are your colleagues and hopefully your friends as well.
  18. Great site. I hope that encourages everyone to talk more about Jesus on Sunday.
  19. This Monty Python clip seems to have both British and French humor:
  20. Perhaps you can listen to this and dance after you eat the baklavas. Opa!
  21. YouTube - nana mouskouri - amazing grace
  22. Baklava is my favorite desert pastry. If you can make this you are an A#1 baker.
  23. Maybe she should call the law offices of Dewey, Cheatum and Howe. I understood that the backbiting became the standard line earlier that this (650 AD?) and was not so much due to competition with the Virgin Mary as it was a question of Apostleship-like status. Anyway, that is just from my vague recollection, possibly from some TV programs.
  24. I think the struggle between Cain and Abel was part of an allegorical story involving the new agrarian lifestyle versus nomadic hunter-gathering. There must have been conflict within the tribe over the choice of which mode to follow. The usage of this supposed curse to justify regretable practices is unfortunate.
