  1. I loved almost every second of Starwars the Last Jedi (minus the entire Casino bit... they should have left that out). I’m utterly confused by the backlash from fans. I would go as far to say that this was the best Starwars movie yet. Thoughts?
  2. Don’t even know what is true anymore
  3. @MormonGator @omegaseamaster75 Thanks guys! I had similar thoughts. We could really use the money but the fact that this isn’t an insurance company and that I work with them regularly (and this is a really good company).
  4. I have a moral question I work for Chrysalis, a company that takes care of people with disabilities of various sorts. The clients I work with live in a home in a neighborhood. Before Christmas it got very cold and snowed here. One of the clients wanted to be helpful and shovel the snow and ice off my car... so he did and took a shovel to my car. There are now scratches all over our car (a 2015 civic we just bought). The company, Chrysalis, said they would now pay for the damage done and pay for the painting of the whole car. here is my question. Would it be wrong to just take the money and not get the car repainted???
  5. I did see an apostle drinking out of a Samuel Adams bottle once... it was only sprite though.
  6. These women don’t seem to care
  7. LISTEN! ...to the Holy Spirit
  8. A very long time ago in a different galaxy from our own (probably pretty far away), there were 3 known and recorded explosions that were the size of planets, each shooting unknown and alien shrapnel in all directions. It’s POSSIBLE that something from those xplosions landed here on earth around the time leading up to the Book of Mormon.
  9. Service is always good. We did service at a soup kitchen ran by a Pentecostal preacher. We mentioned briefly that part of the word of wisdom was not drinking coffee. 3 weeks later he told us he quit coffee x) In every single one of his pre-meal sermons he talked about and testified of the truth that us missionaries spoke.

  12. Acute, feminine angles are far cuter that male. An obtuse angle is not acute angle
  13. I just feel like the author shifted definitions. we say: “the people aren’t perfect, but the church is”. By this we mean that the teachings and places The church will take you is perfect, the people in it are not. Author argues: ”The church isn’t perfect, the gospel is.” author is essentially meaning the same thing. I get concerned when people try to seperate the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Church. They are one in the same. I have a friend that believes this whole heartedly, the church is just a tool to get us to God. I have heard him say “The church is just YOUR way of getting to God. We all need to find our own way of getting to God and the church just doesn’t work for me” This of course is false
  14. I love this, but I’m just curious why this changed or why it wasn’t so in the past. I had the Melchizedek Priesthood while in Highschool and went to do baptisms thinking I could baptize my friends but they said I needed to be endowed to do so.
  15. Thanks for your comment Vort! But those weren’t time bound where you had to read x-amount pages a day, which is what I’m doing right now, to keep up with everyone else. “If you are not reading the Book of Mormon each day, please do so” - President Monson (I don’t remember much from the two talks this last General Conference, but I’m pretty sure neither of them changed the Prophets commandment). I respect his advice and since then have done so with pleasure. The Last time bound scripture challenge was when Hinkley challenged the world to read the Book of Mormon in a year, which I thought was a reasonable challenge that didn’t force the world to keep track of pages they read.
  16. Does anyone else absolutely despise it when a stake president or mission president challenges everyone to read the scripture in a certain amount of time? Twice in my mission Word was sent out that “we were going to read the whole Book of Mormon together!” I then had to drop where I was in my Book of Mormon studies, and often times other things too, and spend the next 3 months plowing through the Book of Mormon. Well my Stake President extended the same challenge to the stake for preparation for stake conference and so here I am again, going from studying a chapter or two from the Book of Mormon, Chapter from OT, and a chunk of “Temple and the Cosmos” to trying to plow through the Book of Mormon to be ready for Stake Conference. Today I decided to quit so I could go back and start spending more time in chapters and not worry about reading the right amount of pages each day. What are your thoughts of scripture challenges? Most of me hates them but part of me is saying “your leaders are inspired and receive revelation for everyone including you” ... that part of me makes me grumpy. I’m also going to talk to my bishop and ask what he thinks (I imagine he will just laugh for me bringing up such a trivial thing xD ).
  17. We had a large glass table and we taped a square grid system under it. Then we drew everything with dry erase markers. When we went to a new area all we had to do was erase and draw again
  18. I was (and some what still am) a clean cut peter priesthood. But I definitely knew that the mission was not alone going to get me exaltation. My goal isn’t to be a missionary, my goal is exaltation . I was excited to go home, not because I didn’t love my mission, but because I loved what was coming! A year and a half later here I am. Married, kid on the way, got a sweet carrier path, some sweet callings, temple just 5 minutes away.
  19. Lucky you. I woke up at 3:30 b/c of the time change and I was waking up at 5:30 for extra exercise and study on my mission xD I literally had no desire to play. I kept thinking “I sure did like Skyrim and Total war 2 years ago... I should go play!... nah... I’d much rather take 5 Institute classes.” No joke But I did blast All That Remains and Silverstein for a few days xD
  20. Spotify account it really depends. I appreciated a journal a friend gave me, I was SO excited for music. But I have another friend that never wanted to keep a journal again. I have a friend that never wanted to listen to music. My wife felt guilty listening to music for probably a year after her mission. I didn’t play a video game for about 3 months but my friend swan dived back into them.
  21. Literally me on Highschool: ”Why do people like Football? It’s just a bunch of guys hitting each other on a field. Kinda silly and weird.” I now have more respect for it though, I love a good sports game. It is however still a little silly when you describe it x)
  22. Get really good at playing the intro of Fugue in D minor
  23. Article Summary: Daughter: “Mom I slept with a guy” Mom: “Oh no!” Daughter: “we were both virgins” Bishop: “Actually he has slept with a lot of girls” Mom: “Then it isn’t your fault daughter, he raped you” Biahop: “Wait what??? No, actually she still sinned and needs to repent” Mom: “No she didn’t, he lied to her about his sexual life, her agency was compromised” Daughter: “I’m offended, I don’t believe this is the true church” Mom: “I’m offended too, I hate the bishop.”
