Yeah right Wing, I know this is your blog!

I hate when I get suckered into shows that I know are going for heartstrings, but I loved this! Is it just me or does the British audience seem to be so much more a part of the show than any of the American competitions? I've seen them dish out some pretty harsh initial judgments, but when someone rocks it, the audience seems to pour out a ton of love. It's like you know if someone is going to make it based on their reaction alone. Simon's face while she was singing was the best. The one where his chin is in his hands and he breaks out into a smile. You cracked him Girl!

I've heard people speak out against denim skirts, but I wonder if there was ever (or still is, depending on where you live) a hooplah about things like this: I've always felt like we are to do our best and assume that everyone else is doing the same. If someone is under our stewardship and we feel that it would be appropriate to mention something to them about dress or even things like hygiene for that matter, I can see it being ok in some situations, but always done in a loving and non condescending way. There are some things that a mother or father could say to their children that simply wouldn't be appropriate coming from someone else. I see it as kinda being similar to following the proper chain of authority. Still, just because someone has a concern or an opinion doesn't mean that it always needs to be voiced. In the grand scheme of things, the clothes mean very little.

Well, before people start thinking it's odorless, it has a smell, it's just NOTHING like you'd think of when you think of a poopy diaper. It smells kinda... sweet?

Especially breastfed ones.

Never let fear motivate your decisions when it comes to this experience and your life as parents. There are horror stories for EVERY situation out there, but this is life. It's wonderful, going to be hard work, but AMAZING! We were created to do this. Don't let the fears of man trump the plan of our Heavenly Father. Faith is always the best motivator. Congratulations to you and your wife!

I looked for a picture of him at the end of the movie where he's in the straight jacket, but I couldn't find it with the time I had.

You sure you're not just saying that, but you're more like this?

WHY OH WHY can't we put more than one LOL on a post?!

I'm glad you figured out how to get back on! I just read your blog and was very touched. You are amazing! I also appreciate this quote. I think that Charity really is the key to how we are supposed to live. The quote I have on the bottom of my post is another one of my favorites. Glad to rub virtual shoulders with you!

Is there a support group for disgruntled mods? Maybe an online chat group that meets once a week. But... who would moderate?

Something tells me he'd follow you wherever you went. He's got Pam radar now!

Or we do a non-date Speed Dating thing and rotate chairs every 5 minutes. Talk about messing with the waiters minds!

Mmmm "powerfully built" huh? Sounds like one of those phrases that's used to mislead. I think I'm gonna use that one in the future. "I'm not fat, I'm powerfully built!"

You're only 5'7?! I would have sworn you were at least 5'10!

I think you hit this on the head. We're all different from who we are in person when we're online by virtue of the fact that we're ONLINE! It takes away certain elements of the in person experience, (sometimes lets us sidestep some manners that we'd adhere to in person) but for all intents and purposes we're ourselves, just in a different situation. But still, I don't understand, like others have said here, those who feel the need or thrill of creating an entirely different person. Even if the contact we have with those people doesn't have a huge impact on our lives, I still find it a little insulting when I find out that someone decided to mess with the truth in a situation as laid back as a friendly acquaintance in a chat room or web board. I guess both sides could be saying, "It doesn't matter THAT MUCH so why do it?" or "It doesn't matter that much so why care?" I'm still saying the first of the two.

I love that! Thanks for sharing Elph!

SUCH A LIAR! I saw that huge fat tongue of yours licking your lips as Chad and the other waiter (that you didn't flirt with enough apparently because we still had to pay... at least I did... did you?) brought out our food!

I've often wondered how much of this is an insecurity issue or an attraction issue. There are certainly times in my life where I have felt very insecure about my height. I'm feeling better now about exactly who I am than I ever have been before, but I still love the feeling of standing next to a guy who is taller than me. It's not a feeling I get to experience ALL that often and I really like it. I don't want to make anyone else feel bad either, but it's just easier to be honest about the attraction level from the get go. I've had guys tell me that they simply were more attracted to girls shorter than them, and I'm ok with that. What's the alternative? Say, "NO, that's discrimination based on height and I demand that you give me a chance!" LOL, we all just like what we like.

I'm a fake. I pretend I'm a tall chick on here, but I'm actually only 4'11.

Ask your bishop when you should go through the temple. I'm pretty sure that you need to be ordained an Elder before you go to the temple, but not set apart as a missionary. If you already are, it might just be a matter of calling the temple and setting things up, but trust me, your bishop will be pointing you in that direction anyway. I'm sure he'll love to see your enthusiasm (that is what I'm reading, right? :)) Congratulations though! It must be awesome to have taken such a big step. Life will never be the same! Good luck!

Papa Married a Mormon and The Great Brain book series
Honor replied to rockwoodchev's topic in General Discussion
I TOTALLY grew up on these books too! My mom would read them to us at night before we went to bed. They were pure genius! Yeah, the author is John D. (as in JD) Fitzgerald. I grew up in California with a mom who LOVES the library so I'm pretty sure that it wasn't entirely a Mormon thing. I haven't met too many others who have heard of them, but it's not like I ask everybody. Oh, and JD and Tom WERE real kids. It's based on Fitzgerald's life and his brother Tom as well as others from his community but with some creative license taken. He grew up in Price. Thanks for reminding me about these though. I'm so going to read them to my son when he's old enough to understand. I should read them again just for me! -

I am sorry for your loss, but relieved as you are. I hope that you and your family will feel peace at this time and that it will be a sweet time shared together. You all are in my prayers.
