  1. If you use Windows Vista I found a fix that will improve your operating system. Auslogics defragmenter organizes data on your hard drive to speed up your system. You can download it for free here: http://www.auslogics.com/en/software...frag/download/ This program organizes a hard drive better than the utility provided by Microsoft.
  2. I would advise anyone getting a college education to not go into excessive debt to get it. Get all the courses you can from your local community college. Don't go into a lot of debt. It will haunt you until it is paid in full.
  3. It wasn't even that hard to get my Computer Technology Industry Association A+ IT Technician Certification. I took a 150 hour course and studied for several months to pass both exams to become an A+ Certified computer technician.
  4. This is a memory from my mission. I have never felt the Holy Ghost in this way and hope I never will again in the future. I was driving on a two lane winding road in Pennsylvania around the year 1995. While driving on this winding road I came up behind a semi-truck that was traveling at a slower speed than what I wanted to drive. So I attempted to pass the truck when the truck reached a small straight way in the road. I felt a few promptings that I should not do this when I pulled out into the on coming traffic lane but continued to accelerate the car I was driving anyway. Then, I felt the Spirit in a commanding voice tell me to pull back behind the truck and to do it now. Might I clarify that I heard no audible voice, but I felt a voice of authority cut straight to my inner being. My young mind was shocked and I listened to what I had been told. After I was back safely behind the truck an oncoming car drove by us in the other lane. I could not see this oncoming car because of a bend in the road ahead. I don't want to know what would have happened had the Spirit not told me what I should do to be in physical safety.
  5. I can relate there. Dual-Core processors are awesome but I recently gave in and bought a Phenom II 940 Quad-Core processor for my system. The solid state disks are the next coveted upgrade I am looking at. Some of them have over 220 megabyte per second read speeds!
  6. I suggest you take a look at the below Internet site. They deal with pornography addiction: Confidential Pornography / Sexual Addiction Treatment System
  7. You do more work than I do as a Ward Clerk. I usually show up at around 07:30 on Sundays and leave by 15:30. I was also feeling frustrated by the work but I asked God that I might find joy in serving in my calling. He gives me joy as I do His work.
  8. I disagree. Being righteous is not selfish. A truly righteous person does what he does because that is what he has become. Being righteous is not selfish because righteousness blesses others.
  9. Thank you for the encouragement and the advice from everyone. I also think it is so important for people to learn the rule of 72. It is such an important concept to learn with money. You take your interest rate divide it into 72 and the quotient (or answer) is how many years it takes for your money to double. At a 3 percent interest rate your money doubles in 24 years. At 6 percent your money doubles in 12 years. At 10 percent your money doubles in 7.2 years. People who know interest have it paid to them. People who don't understand interest pay it on their debts. If a $2,000 credit card is at an 18 percent annual percentage rate your debt will be doubling every four years.
  10. I think if you stay with the following ten points you will be alright: 1. Love God and our neighbors. 2. Keep the commandments. 3. Repent of our wrongdoings. 4. Search out our kindred dead and receive the saving ordinances of the gospel for them. 5. Attend our Church meetings as regularly as possible so we can renew our baptismal covenants by partaking of the sacrament. 6. Love our family members and strengthen them in the ways of the Lord. 7. Have family and individual prayers every day. 8. Teach the gospel to others by word and example. 9. Study the scriptures. 10. Listen to and obey the inspired words of the prophets of the Lord.
  11. Rejoice With Me! My Credit Card Debt is Almost Gone! I owed about $9,700 of debt in 2006. And now I presently owe less than $1,000. It really helped that my debts were at a 3 percent annual interest rate so a lot of my payments would knock out the principle balance. Does it help your credit score to just make payments on a small balance like I have? I have pondered paying this down to around $500 and just making the minimum monthly payments to have a good credit score. The card is locked in for life at a 3 percent annual interest rate.
  12. Taxes will go up sky high if free universal healthcare gets through Congress. I cannot believe the amount of money Washington has been spending and it is because the checks and balances of power the Constitution had in place are being set aside for what many deem as the greater good.
  13. I have read a part in the Pearl of Great Price where John the Baptist appeared to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery. Of course his head and body were in a perfect resurrected state.
  14. Wow, Palerider. You have more posts than I do at a computer forum that I go to all the time. I have 2,579 posts at the other forum I go to.
  15. I don't mind if a few computer guys hijack the thread personally. I just upgraded to a Phenom II 940 Quad-Core Processor on February 6th. My Flight Simulator X wouldn't run at the graphics settings I wanted with my old Athlon 4600+ Dual-Core. The Phenom II Processor series rules! The Intel i7 Processors may have more computing power but who wants to dish out $280 U.S. currency for one?
  16. What processor, motherboard, RAM and hard drive are you upgrading to?
  17. Good points JudoMinja, but I would like to clarify one thing. The woman taken in adultery was not forgiven at that point in time. She was told to start her repentance process. Go and sin no more was her counsel. In the Inspired Version of the Bible we read that she did turn her life to God and repent.
  18. Forgiveness to me is a matter of faith. It is faith that vengeance is the Lord's and that He will repay. He is the perfect Judge. The Peacegiver is a good book. I listened to it on an audio book and enjoyed it. Loving Wife, I would seek and pray for Heavenly Father to give you joy. Seek that you might have the joy of the Lord in your heart. It is easy to let the burdens we shoulder in this life crush us.
  19. I consider the Lord's name very sacred and I never use the phrase "O my ***." I don't even like the word gosh because sometimes it does sound like you are breaking the commandment to keep the name of the Lord sacred. When I do hear people say the phrase I sigh within myself because God's name and any reference to it should be taken with care. "TGIF" really bothers me as well because it is refering to the Lord in a casual way.
  20. My kids don't have cellular phones, an i-pod or portable visual media. It is too much power to give someone in my opinion. My daughter asked for an MP3 player and I will likely give her one in the future. I personally hate cellular phones. My wife has one but I think they cost too much.
  21. I loved watching the ski jumping. It's crazy how far those guys can jump. Watching the ski racing was painful because the snow was so icy. There were many athletes that wiped out. The Skeleton is an insane event. Going 90 miles per hour on a sled facing head first. You couldn't pay me enough to do that. It was sad that the Jamaican Team didn't make the qualifying time for the bobsled. It has been an interesting Winter Olympics so far.
  22. Man, I thought most people would be happy with this news. Isn't everyone tired of the oil companies stuffing their overpriced petroleum down our throats? It's good to see technology is advancing past the internal combustion engine. The internal combustion engine wastes 50 percent of the energy during gasoline burn to heat. Sure the electric automobile is in its infancy, but it will get better if their is a market for it. As battery technology gets better we will probably see these cars get double and triple the range of the present electric automobile.
  23. If these become popular mass manufacturing will make electric cars cheaper. I am also interested in these automobiles as the technology matures and the price comes down. Own a gasoline car for when you go on long trips and the electric car for the normal commute and around town errands.
  24. What do you think of this? Nissan is going to release a purely electric automobile in late 2010 called the "Nissan Leaf." The car has a top speed of about 87 miles per hour (140 kilometers per hour) and has a range of 90 to 100 miles on a full charge. The price range will be around $35,500 to $42,500. The Lithium battery life is four to five years. To yield a full charge, a 220-volt, single-phase AC charger takes less than eight hours, and topping off the battery from a 110 volt standard home wall outlet will take around 16 hours.
  25. Counsel I have heard from authorities in the church is to not trust movie ratings. I don't trust movie ratings and most movies aren't worth watching anyway. What is up with the price of 3-Dimensional movies? $11 to go to a movie?! That is a rip off. I wanted to see the movie Avatar but I will not see it because I refuse to pay $4 more to see a 3-Dimensional movie.
