I still don't understand what judge the mount of Esau means. I am familiar that Esau sold his birthright for a meal of pottage to Jacob because he despised the birthright.

Doctrine and Covenants 89:21 reads: "And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen." Who is the destroying angel? Satan is the destroying angel. Many people who abuse drugs and alcohol fall into temptation and the snares of the evil one. Our minds will be clear and one will find it easier to resist the devil if your mind is not clouded by substance abuse.

In Obadiah verse 21 we read: "And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord’s." The saviours are the saints going in to mount Zion (we all know the temple is mount Zion). What does saviours judging the mount of Esau mean? I have never been able to figure out what this part of the verse is speaking about.

This is the main reason why I dual-boot and use a Linux Operating System. I prefer to use Linux Ubuntu 8.10 when browsing the Internet as it is so much more secure against malicious software.

I side with Tubaloth on the subject of progressing between kingdoms of glory. I certainly would not stake my claim of entering the celestial kingdom by being slothful and eventually getting there in the next life. If we procrastinate the day of turning to the Lord we could find ourselves eternally shut out and damned. We are warned over and over in the Book of Mormon to not procrastinate repentance and to turn our lives over to the Lord.

Martybess, I think you meant "posterity", not prosperity. Children are a gift from God. They are not a spiritual gift in my eyes (at least how Moroni describes spiritual gifts in Moroni chapter 10). However to be a good parent one needs to seek after the gift of wisdom in order to instruct your children properly in the way of the Lord. The gift of judgment would come under the gift of discernment. There many qualities of judgment and discernment that are intertwined. The gift of piety would come under the the gift of seeking that which is righteous (which is also part of the gift of wisdom). Thanks for the scripture references on spiritual gifts Martybess. I will have to include them with the list of spiritual gifts.

When you go out to serve a mission you are making a commitment to the LORD to focus entirely on Him and to do the work that is laid out for you. Men and women are encouraged to not call home and talk with others while serving a mission except on specified days. It is too hard to carry on a romantic relationship and to properly focus on the work that you need to do while serving. He should be focusing on the work he has committed to do and not be worried if you are dating other men.

I would agree with Kawazu. But if this guy is legitimate doctors also charge money for their services. In my own opinion though I don't think it's right to charge money to pray for someone.

A thanks to all who are giving contributions to this thread. I am finding there are so many gifts covered under the spiritual gift of wisdom that it doesn't do it justice to just call it the gift of wisdom. I think I am going to make a sub category under the gift of wisdom and list more spiritual gifts under this. I will do some tweaking with the list in the future and post it again for all to see.

I believe the account of Christ recorded in John chapter 8 verses 1 to 11 is true.

Many of us often hear the account written in John chapter 8 verses 1 to 11 of the woman taken in adultery to be judged by Jesus (John 8). But how many people have read the Inspired Version of John 8:11? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee; go, and sin no more. And the woman glorified God from that hour, and believed on his name.

"And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils . . ." Mark 16:17 We can also attribute the casting out of demons to people being born again in Jesus Christ. As people become truly converted to the Gospel of Christ, devils are cast out of their lives. I believe that there are actual exorcisms that do happen today, but perhaps this scripture can also be seen as partially fulfilled in the a fore manner that I stated in this post.

Recently I began to question why I believe what I believe. Most of it comes down to John chapter 7 verse 17: "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." I know the doctrine is true because every time I live what the Prophets of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints teach I come closer to God. The LORD has also given me a special divine confirmation that Joseph Smith saw the vision of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in 1820. I sought His confirmation on truth for years before I finally received a witness. After the vision Joseph Smith had and after years of preparation, he was called by the LORD to be His prophet and to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fullness. I am so grateful to the LORD for all the truth He pours out into my soul when I seek after Him.

One thing I reflect on often is Judgment Day. I know that one day I will stand before the LORD and account for my mortal life. I have felt peace many times in my life. This peace that comes thru the Atonement Jesus Christ made. Sins I have struggled with don't bother my conscience anymore as I have forsaken them thru the strength my Heavenly Father has given me. Why am I a Latter-Day Saint Christian? The LORD has shown me that this is faith I should be involved in. I feel the authority of the Apostles and Prophet and see the wisdom that they give us in the name of the LORD.

I am a man and I think this is some good advice for me. When I come home to my wife it is good to be cheery and happy to see her. You don't want to come home grumpy and ignore your family.

I used to run all the time in High School. Now my left knee bothers me too much to run anymore so I do other cardiovascular exercises. (And what gives I'm in my mid thirties and my knee is starting to go! ) What I do for exercise is the low impact cardiovascular machines at the local gym. I also enjoy weight lifting.

I am going to get a key logger in the future because I want to use it to keep track of what is going on. Of course the best filter is a parent rather than software or hardware. One can only live on borrowed light so long as all are free to choose. But I also don't want to be like an ostrich with his head in the sand.
