I'm confused? How does this relate to the rest of the topic? (unless I've forgotten something from an earlier post, in which case I apologise!)
-
I voted neither born again nor evangelical. I was baptised into the RC church as a baby, received my first holy communion at 7 and was confirmed at 10, and at that time fully believed all I was taught...however I now question and so don't consider myself born again at this time!

Ooops! I thought you were referring to this: 'To approach or accost someone with an offer of sexual services in return for payment.' http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=solicit

I'd be really interested, as I'm a big Beatles fan, and especially of George Harrison and John Lennon... Must admit that I don't fancy having to spend money to see the video which apparently proves them to be satanists, as I do feel this is probably a money making exploitative venture on the part of the website concerned...wouldn't object to receiving a copy of it on a cdr tho, if anyone is able to 'capture' it? :)

Thanks for those interesting Website links Outshined... Thanks for the interesting Biog. stuff on Ozzy, Ari! Btw, although George Harrison may have been worshipping his 'god' Krishna, it still doesn't prove he was a 'satanist'! I think I'll carry on listening to my extensive record collection, many of which I've listened to with my children...and carry on being who I am, not a devil worshipper or anything, just a normal mum doing what I can :) My children seem to be pretty well balanced too, so I'm not gonna interfere with their musical preferences...btw, my son doesn't listen to Marilyn Manson because he said he either abused or killed a dog in one of his concerts (correct me if I'm wrong...I may have forgotten exactly what he told me)...so, far from being influenced to be evil because of M.M.'s songs/actions on stage, my son has disassociated himself from him...without any influence on my part whatsoever...he's only 12 btw.

My definition is the same as Ben's.

I would be interested to see the video, if only to see whether or not statements had been taken out of their original context so that they appeared as if the people were all satanists... Really, would you consider George Harrison to have been a satanist?

Public Displays Of Religion Disappearing

Well I'm not LDS, but I went on a nudist beach nearly every day of a holiday I took in Yugoslavia back in 1985, I must admit that it was very liberating...have to say, my self confidence in my body was much higher back then, which would have helped me to disrobe more comfortably, but that's just me!!! I have no objection to nudist colonies and I think that I could probably comfortably exist in one now...even tho my body is big and saggy these days! if I had the confidence to realise that nobody there is really interested in what you look like, it's your attitude to each other, respecting each other no matter what your outward appearance is, that would matter most...they do have strict rules I believe, regarding 'voyeurs'...at least they did on the beach in Yugo. -

Thanks USNationalist! -
____________________Wow! Your story sounds identical to mine. I agree with what you said...very sound wisdom. ← Thank you Ari...you know, we all have to learn from our mistakes don't we? and I think it's a good thing if we can at least guide our children to be aware of the pitfalls of being 'blindly' in love!

Just curious to know, as a John Lennon fan, was this the only statement he made in the video which led you to believe he was a satanist? If not, can you let me know the other things he said, and in which context, eg. where and when he said it...year etc. I don't see the remark above as being a statement that John Lennon was a satanist..he was simply pointing out that religion, at that time, was out of touch with youth!

Hey! We're all feeling paranoid now!!!!! ARGHHHHHHHHH.....

Sorry I haven't replied to this earlier...sort of lost the thread with all the other new replies in other threads in this forum. I can understand why, living in a country where people are already allowed to carry guns openly, you mainly hold the opinion that this is for the best and the safest option. Of course I can see the value in having a gun available as a deterrent if somebody is trying to harm you, unfortunately it can become all too easy to rely on this in matters that are less dangerous/life threatening, and I think that is why we have gun controls in the UK. It would be interesting to see some sort of comparison between crime rates/per population figures between countries where guns are allowed and countries such as the UK where there are more restrictions. -
Also some of the most perverted minds are from the so called Christians! Just because somebody doesn't believe in God it doesn't automatically make them evil or perverted!!

IMO when rock stars associate themselves with devil worship and other 'unsavoury' things, publicly, they are only doing so for effect, to add to their iconic status...I really don't take it seriously for a minute!

I chose the same answer as Ari, however it is really quite a difficult one when you look at it closely, because in the end I wouldn't turn my back on my child whomever he/she decided to marry. I would hope that my children would be able to discuss their relationship with me in such a way that we could decide between us if the person they're with is okay or is abusing them either emotionally or physically, and that they would value my judgement as much as their own in deciding this. I'm not wishing to sound like an 'intefering mother' but I wish that I had listened more to my family's warnings about the person I eventually married, as I ended up staying married to him for 11 years, most of which were unhappy, just because I wasn't confident enough to drop him when our relationship was not so great before we married, and wasn't confident, until years later, to walk out on the marriage when it was definitely doomed to disaster!!

TXRed, thanks for answering my enquiry about your kitten. I wasn't doubting your first use of arnica, and am pleased to hear that it was effective, I only wondered about its continued use in the healing process for your kitten's back, and wondered if some sort of splint would have normally been used to assist in the healing. I understand your problem regarding the cost of vets services, and fully agree that you did the right thing regarding your goat, and am pleased to hear she had such a happy outcome to her problems.

Dontagreeljefe...everyone in the UK pays for the National Health Service via their wage, thru National Insurance Contributions. This also covers Social Security which is paid to low income families. I know it is not ideal to totally rely on the state for your health/rent needs, however it is more ideal to have these provisions in place in case you become unemployed or sick, not necessarily of your own accord, at some time in your life. I don't see anything Marxist about this system, and don't see many people in the UK who contribute NI payments complaining, in fact many are stating that they would increase their contributions if it was definitely put towards improving the SS and NHS services currently offered. I haven't read your church leaders opinions on these matters as I prefer to make up my own mind on these matters, not just listen to and follow blindly, the opinions of others.

My vote went to 'learn the issues...' As an anarchist I am encouraged not to vote in elections, however I do have difficulty with that, due to my feelings about the Right to Vote that women fought for. Having said that, I do not feel that any one political party in the UK represents all of my opinions, and I would not like to 'blanket' vote for 1 party just because it had similar opinions to mine, but very diffferent ones on some important issues. The stance of our local Anarchist group is to use 'Direct Action' and talking to the people we mix with at work, or in other environments, find out what they take issue with, and to try to persuade as many other people, those involved in politics and those who aren't, to see the reasons why these people, and us, want changes made, and hopefully achieve some of them that way. Lobbying I suppose is the correct word to use! Btw, I prefer definition 6 of www.dictionary.com for Politics: 'The often internally conflicting interrelationships among people in a society.' to any other...that way, we're all involved in politics, whether we like it or not :)

May I ask if anyone knows if there was a reason that the USA didn't create anything like the NHS which we have here in the UK, and the system by which we make National Insurance Contributions as a percentage of our wages, which covers us for NHS treatment by hospitals and doctors? We also have NHS dentists, although these are now quite scarce! For their treatments we have to pay a certain amount dependent upon which treatment is given, but it is a much smaller amount than we would pay privately. Also those in receipt of Income Support are allowed Free dental treatment. I know that our NHS system doesn't always work out perfectly, there are also long waiting lists in our hospitals, and shortages of beds etc. however I cannot see why any country wouldn't want to adopt this system?

I'm very interested in your story Txred. I would advise anyone to consult a qualified Homeopathic or Herbalist practitioner before just treating themselves and their families/pets tho, just to be on the safe side. Btw, did you consider having your kitten checked out by a vet after giving it the first dose of Arnica? I would have thought a broken back would have required some sort of surgery or splint to be applied to aid in its healing? perhaps your kitten would have healed more quickly and less painfully, thus reducing the amount of Arnica you had to use? I'm not criticising, just curious as I don't know very much about herbalism or homeopathic medicine myself, although I have attended a small lecture on both recently, so I am aware of a few basics.

I voted Yes, then realised the thread was closed! Sorry everyone... I voted yes because I believe in freedom to choose whatever form of music you wish to listen to, and that not all 'heavy/head banging' music is bad for us or our children. Kids have brains the same as we do, and they can choose whether or not to take any notice of less than pleasant lyrics.

Thanks for defending the rights of non conservatives to be a member of the LDS church or of this board. I'm neither conservative nor liberal, in fact I used to be a 'lefty' in the UK, now I'm an anarchist...sorry Ari, but each of us has a point of view and each of us has a right to express it...

I voted Yes...I wouldn't like to force anybody away from the site. I agree that some comments/one liners are not particularly necessary, or adding anything to the threads concerned, and yes this does become annoying in some circumstances. I have been 'outed' by Dis myself for posting pointless one line 'I agree with you..' posts, and I apologise for doing so without making further remarks that add to the post. As for some of Please's posts wanting to provoke controversy, I do feel that sometimes others here also post one liners (or more) in order to provoke controversial remarks too...they know who they are, and sometimes their posts, especially in the advice section, are quite mean and insensitive...I still wouldn't like to drive them away from the forum though, because each of us has something useful to contribute at least some of the time, so let's be fair! Btw, if there is an enormous white space beneath my words, which is taking up bandwidth, I do apologise but it was my kitten stepping onto the keyboard whilst I was typing which caused it!!
