Okay, so I confessed all my sins and have been doing great so far as chastity goes. I havn't had any problems for almost 2 weeks now and I havn't had very many urges lately. I'm doine prety good overall.

I just got a new bishop he isn't the one I confessed to. My old one said that if I slipped I dont have to explain the situation all over again. If i slip what should I tell my bishop, and even if I don't slip again what should I say as a follow up? I don't know what to say to my new one now aahh! Its making me nervous!

Don't be nervous. Relax. One day at a time....one struggle at a time.

It wouldn't hurt to build a bishops influence into your recovery plan....if in fact you feel that it would strengthen you. I mean, what if you just went in and told him your situation and asked him to be part of it. Then, if and when you need him, the trust will already be there.

Are you adding other supports to your plan? Like the 12 steps? The bish could help support your walk thru them.

With our situation, we really found that managing the "slips" was more easily accomplished and avoided when we were working thru everything that even might be a trigger. We learned to manage the addiction and all the urges and all the triggers until we unraveled all the lies and the patterns and until that uncontrollable urge to use lessened and lessened. Now we manage life and the temptation comes a knocking and we banish it before it gets any stage time. It is a really wonderful place to be now. Even though we never take anything for granted.

I think two weeks is simply awesome. Congratulations!! I hope you have a plan for the your next weak moment. It will come by and by..... and offer you another opportunity to get stronger!

Best wishes.

I've had my own struggles with the law of chastity - pornography specifically. It's a pretty nasty topic, and I'm glad you have the strength to talk about it and ask for help - that says a lot about your character (wow I sound like my Dad...).

I've found that, among other things, a firm testimony helps. Scripture study, prayer, and all those other things really help push the bad thoughts out. I'm approaching about 3 weeks since I made a firm (re)committment to the Gospel and I've found that as I truly commit myself that my thoughts keep themselves clean. Truly, as the cliches say, the darkness can not abide the light.

I also think our ability to overcome is directly linked to our desire. You should constantly remind yourself why you are choosing to do the good things you do. 1 John 3: 3.

Tell him exactly what you're telling us. "Hi Bishop, I've slipped up in the past and repented, and Bishop X told me I didn't have to explain the situation all over again."

All good?
