Connie Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 (edited) classic example of how words are used in war. governments are of course the prime target of Satan. his entire platform in the war in heaven was "i will govern" and he still seeks to do so. but also: 1 We believe that governments were instituted of God for the benefit of man; and that he holds men accountable for their acts in relation to them, both in making laws and administering them, for the good and safety of society. government is a tool, so government can be of God, or it can represent Satans counterfeit. but of course if we draw attention to this we are evil? yes? no? and to make such a comment about our brothers and sisters who are gay is just vile. classic example of how words are used in war.Exactly, couldn't agree more. Very classic example. As the man said in his article: Hate. The opposition must be shamed, vilified, and demonized. That is exactly how anyone with a pro-sin tendency likes to paint those against sin. richlittell Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 I don't think the third knew at all that they would get kicked out. I think Satan flattered them just as he does us now, and that many of them bought into the lie. In the beginning when they were gathering up their army or shoring up their minds or whatever, they probably didn't know how many could eventually get to join them. Free agency existed in the premortal existence and they may have thought they could have won over more spirits. I think they may have known the odds were against them, maybe, but had hoped for a better turnout. Or maybe they thought they had a "plan B" strategy that was failproof, or maybe even Satan convinced them it would be better to exist without a body than to accept God's way and live under his rule. On a similar note, I think there were many spirits who probably rooted for Satan or even preferred his plan, but felt that it was best to sit on the fence and not get involved since they had the smarts to see that God would win regardless of Satan's effort. fun speculation Quote
Guest tomk Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Satan has been called " a liar FROM THE BEGINNING " Quote
Hemidakota Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 that they were going to be kicked out? how about the 5 foolish virgins, do you think they knew they were going to miss the Bridegroom?Because I suspect they thought they were all ok, and I also suspect they thought they were on the right side of things. I really doubt they thought they were evil. I also wonder if they thought WE were evil, I mean after all, under the plan WE selected, some people are sure going to everlasting destruction. I can see how they would think we were heartless.I do not believe as it was in the beginning as spoken by Abraham, regarding the grand council of chosen leadership that most of the third hosts were present. Nor, not all of the remaining hosts were also present. Quote
richlittell Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 I ask nobody to agree with me about anything. All I asked was that a controversial subject which has lead to frequent heated arguments and closed threads not be brought up over and over again ad nauseum. Their is little or no desire here to listen to what those on the other side have to say, and that is your prerogative. I am just sick of seeing interesting threads locked. This one had nothing to do with same sex marriage.I have never posted anything that belittled your beliefs or doctrines. Can we PLEASE stay on topic? Here's a hint (not directed at anyone because I have no idea who you all are).the best way to stay on topic is for only ONE of the offenders to simply stop replying to the other offender. That's it, problem solved. Just ignore it and make your contribution to the topic at hand. You don't even have to lay down your pride, as everyone will see the better of you for it. (not directed at you fent, as I don't know you or haven't followed the post, this is directed to "you" in the general audience sense). Quote
threepercent Posted September 8, 2008 Author Report Posted September 8, 2008 how to stay on topic was not the topic, um, opps., ahh, nevermind. I am not the droid your looking for. Quote

Actually fent, I would like to beg to differ if I may. Every time you say YOUR GOD, YOUR CHURCH, YOUR BELIEFS, I find it belittling and somewhat offensive. The tone is coming across almost as if it's a negative thing. Very difficult to tell tone in written word but that is the feeling I get whenever I see it. That our God is any different than your God or anyone else' God. We all have the same God whether you or anyone else sees it that way or not. How we interpret and understand HIM is a different thing. Tamrajh Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 (edited) So back to the REAL topic... I suspect the 1/3 and 5 virgins were all thinking something to the effect of "Oh, it's not that bad. I'm just a little off target here. He'll forgive me a little bit. Right? I mean He loves me, He knows I don't mean it. I'm just going along with it because everyone else is. He knows the real intent of my heart after all... that's all that matters." Hmmm ... maybe I should get my visiting teaching done, and start having FHE, and reading the scriptures every day with the family... Edited September 9, 2008 by Tamrajh Haha, I go visiting teaching, not home teaching! Quote
Wingnut Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Not having read anything previous to this page, I will stay on topic. Mostly. :) My thoughts tend to wonder more about the 2/3. I wonder if there are people who chose Christ's plan and came to earth solely for the purpose of obtaining a body, because they recognized that it was better than the alternative, even if they agreed with Satan's plan more. I have a hard time believing that some of the most evil and vile people on this earth actually chose the Savior's plan on purpose, because they agreed with it. Yeah, yeah, the veil. I also wonder (though less, because this seems more doubtful...it's more of a joke to myself really) if there weren't a few mistakes. People who chose to be part of the 1/3 but accidentally made it into the get-a-body-and-go-to-earth group. Quote
WANDERER Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 In context of the second coming I think that: All ten virgins knew He was coming...but....one group had believed a false rumor that the bridegroom would come early so they only needed a little oil. Perhaps, speculating a little, out of the two thirds, some might have given support to the wrong plan... but followed Heavenly Father's vote because they had wisdom enough, if not of their own. Quote
