Gretchen Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 INVISIBLE CHILDREN PRESENTS [+] THE RESCUEWe had a discussion about this in school the other day. Still can't get it out of my mind. Joseph Kony is kidnapping children to use as soldiers. They do horrible things to the children. Joseph Kony MUST be stopped. Quote
talisyn Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Child soldiers are being used in quite a few wars. It's evil, horrible, and there are a lot more horrible things going on by these same people. Children are innocent and need to be protected, not used as cannon fodder. We know from the BoM this usually happens when there just aren't enough adults around to fight and esp when people's hearts grow so cold and tired. Quote
Gretchen Posted March 22, 2009 Author Report Posted March 22, 2009 The children are being kidnapped, and their parents murdered. Quote
Gretchen Posted March 29, 2009 Author Report Posted March 29, 2009 Look, I know that this is happening in Uganda, a country half a world away, but think for a second, what if it was your child that Joseph Kony kidnapped? Quote
Traveler Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Children often are the first victims in conflicts including social, political and religious conflicts. Children are often the forgotten victims of social engineering fostering socialization of things like health care, sex education and entitlements. The more control of societies concerns are centered in a federalized of central government the more likely children are abused. For example the more liberal we have become with our marriages the more children are exposed to broken parental commitments and single parents. We know that such social restructuring results in increased poverty and criminal behaviors. And we do not have to look far. In recent demonstrations in the Oakland area we that children were utilized to foster criminal rebellion against lawful authority of police. Even those that argue in behalf of the demonstrations and claim that the Oakland police are destructive to Black families overlook the fact that fathering children outside of wedlock is even more destructive to Black families in that area. The Traveler Quote
Gretchen Posted November 1, 2009 Author Report Posted November 1, 2009 Why is it that no one cares? These are children of God, and we are standing by and watching them be slaughtered or mutilated or forced to do horrendous things? Grrr to you all for not caring about the children. I guess what people say is true; empathy is a forgotten thing. Quote
pam Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 That link in the OP doesn't work for me. Quote

Gretchen Posted November 1, 2009 Author Report Posted November 1, 2009 I'll settle for keeping the children in your prayers...and praying that Joseph Kony gets killed. Quote
Gretchen Posted November 1, 2009 Author Report Posted November 1, 2009 There are very few people that I'd gladly kill, and Joseph Kony is top of the list. Quote
beefche Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 I'm not sure if I will be praying that someone else commits murder even if the man deserves it. Seems wrong somehow to pray for someone to violate the Lord's laws. Prayers for the children and prayers for the government or military to stop this man is definitely do-able. Quote
pam Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 I can pray for the kids..but I just can't pray that someone gets killed. Quote
Gretchen Posted November 1, 2009 Author Report Posted November 1, 2009 Try this one.Sorry about the link. I didn't check it regularly. And Pam, you're right, that outburst was uncalled for. Quote
pam Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 There are horrible things happening to children all over the world. I wish I had the means to help support numerous agencies that are attempting to fight some of these battles for them. Quote

talisyn Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 Gretchen, it's a big assumption that people don't care. Just because I don't shout to the world all the stuff I've supported with money doesn't mean I don't care. Like Pam said, tell us what we can do....besides prayer. Quote
