This just doesn't happen here in the great northwest very often. Lots of people here do not have AC in their houses! The sign at the Methodist church next door to work says... To any of the people outside of WA who are scratching their heads about why this 100*+ weather is such a big deal. It's because it's RARE here. 80*'s is our more typical summer temperature. The majority of homes here (even new homes!) don't come with A/C, because you can usually get by just fine with ceiling fans and opening the windows up at night. All the stores here are sold out of window A/C units. A few of the chain stores (Home Depot, etc.) have been commendeering the coastal stores' stock of A/C's and fans to sell here, because their temps are still just in the 70's and 80's. It's nuts. Right now it's only 22%, so not too bad at all. I remember these type temps with 100% humidity. Don't even want to think about that. That is miserable! Quote
