Do I need my photo ID for the temple?

So I'm going to the temple to be endowed and I've lost my wallet. I have my temple recommend. Will I need my photo id?

Also, the temple I'm going to rents clothing, but does this also include the foot wear? If so, what kind? I'm asking because my feet get very swollen and need footwear that accommodates this.

Thanks!

You won't need your photo ID to enter the temple. The recommend is all that is needed.

The footwear they provide are elasticated slippers if I remember correctly. They have a lot of slack on them anyway.

You will have a temple guide that will help you with everything. They will prolly meet you at the door.

To clarify, I am aware of that, but I still think you should go with someone you know, and not have a stranger guide you.

I have a good friend to be my escort. I was hoping to fly my mom down, but it seems she can't get a recommend right now... something about her hair and so she's not going to church and yadda yadda. BUT, yes! I am going! It's all planned. I have the recommend. We're leaving early to go buy garments. I am sooo excited!! I was very hesitant if this was the right time because of my husband being inactive and us not being sealed, and I was really hoping to go with him, and was willing to wait if that meant we would go as a family, but since that's not the way it's going, here I go!

Everything will work out just fine, all you need to do is be worthy and desirus of the spiritual companionship. they do charge a minimul fee for rental clothing that helps to cover washing e;t;c... {and of course yer recommend}.:)

An other couple in the ward is also going to be endowed at the same time as I am, then they'll be sealed afterwards. This also means that a lot of our ward members will be there and I'm still very excited:) Last night though I had all these bad dreams about not getting there in time and them being out of garments to sell me. I always have bad dreams, boo!

Oh an other question, but I feel a little silly about this one. It is ok to fast on the day you receive endowments? I'd think 'of coruse!' but every time I hear people talk about that day they mention that they got in and out for lunch.... and I'm surprised they weren't fasting. Is there a reason not to?

Not as far as I know. If your temple has a cafeteria internally then people tend to use it afterwards, so you may a little left out but apart from that, no.

They typically ask that you do not fast while attending the temple. They've had a lot of people faint from fasting and consider it a health risk. I would recommend you fast the day before and eat the day of...you can still have the "fasting" approach (frame of mind, spiritual feelings, etc) while not fasting.

You know, I'm not surprised. No food or water and then you go into a place that is always warm, wearing a long sleeve long dress made of polyester and you're nervous as a dickens because you have no idea what's going on... sounds like a good recipe for fainting!

hair is a reason to not get a temple rec?

Not quiet sure myself:P I love my mother. She is fairly sensitive about how others perceive her though.

Temple thermostats are calibrated by temple engineers and controlled by temple presidencies--both groups tend to be constituted of elderly males.

It'll be an icebox in there. ;)

Temple presidencies do, I wouldn't say the same thing about temple engineers. Presidents are usually retired volunteers whereas engineers are usually employed professionals ranging from the early 20s to late 60's.

If you can afford your own clothing, it would be wise to purchase them online. Most small temples do not have the space for a laundry/rental clothes service.

Thanks for the info everyone:) I'm going to the Oakland Temple, which has a cafeteria and rental clothing (fancy shmancy) Appointment is set, escort arranged, time set aside to purchase garments, recommend in a safe place. :)

It would be so much nicer if the temple recommend had your picture on it! That would stop any heathens from selling them on ebay!

I love the Oakland temple. I was sealed to my family when I was 10 there and have done baptisms for the dead. The view is gorgeous, it almost makes the bay area look beautiful:P I mean, it is beautiful, but the crude that goes on in the city, WHOA. When ever my friends move to the city I know, they'll get into drugs, then bikes, become vegan, become an alcoholic and then come back home. Happens every time. Not saying anything about vegans... really I'm not:P
