Snow Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 I can't see a single thread on this important topic. Both The Lord's University - The University of Utah - and it's lessor cousin, BYU won this last weekend and are highly ranked in the polls. What is wrong with you people? Quote
bytebear Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 Having gone to the U, I agree, however I am now a Southern California resident and so I have to cheer for USC. It helps that my extended family are die hard USC fans and have 6th row seats. My only consolidation is that the one and only time USC played Utah, Utah won. Quote
john doe Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 Maybe you missed this thread: http://www.lds.net/forums/sports/25275-oklahoma-versus-byu.html Utah also won but Utah State would struggle against Logan High. Quote

I get to about one game every year or two - same for UCLA. Quote
Snow Posted September 9, 2009 Author Report Posted September 9, 2009 Maybe you missed this thread: http://www.lds.net/forums/sports/25275-oklahoma-versus-byu.html Proof positive that you can learn something new every day. I was unaware that we had a sports forum on LDS.net. Utah also won but Utah State would struggle against Logan High.I think that may be turning around. Their new coach is the former defensive coordinator from Utah's NCAA #2 finish last year and appears to be making progress. I don't remember the specific numbers but something like... last year USU only had six players that could bench 300+ lbs. Now they have 15... or something under the new regime??I think they could be good within a year or so. Quote
Mason Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 Weber State lost it's opener to Wyoming. However, to their credit, it was a close game. Quote

Excuse me but I think you have it backwards. BYU is the Lords University and UofU is the lessor cousin. Get it right!! Quote
talisyn Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 I hope this year the divine light shines upon all the teams that are not part of the BCS. Quote

Hey, I'll freely admit that our football team sucks. We should replace those West Point cadets with a Ranger platoon when no one is looking. Maybe then we'll have a chance at winning! Quote

beefche Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 Well, ya gotta admit...black robes with the accoutrements of a fallen priesthood are so cool! We Mormons like to take the good and leave the bad, so let's use the cool clothes of a fallen priesthood while leaving the fallen priesthood behind. Quote
Moksha Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 Snow, could we not call the lesser one the Lord's University and the greater one the University of the Lord? I am rooting for both teams till the final conference game. Quote
Snow Posted September 11, 2009 Author Report Posted September 11, 2009 I'm a big fan of both as well but as a U of U grad have a moral obligation to denigrate and malign BYU publicly - false priesthood and all. BYU - Zeal Without Knowledge Quote
Justinator1 Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 That's right, go Utah, we won't hold it against you the Utah State drew first blood...or that BYU walked all over Tulane today... Quote
