Basically, a 'what on earth are these people thinking' moment. If I were that mom I would be on every single news show that would have me. I would talk to every reporter on the face of the planet. The authorities are not saying why they took the kids, and we all know by now that if there is a plausible enough reason to blame anyone at all, especially the parents, those people almost always try the case in the court of public opinion first. If they need to be kept safe from someone OTHER than the mother, then PLEASE use some sanity and TAKE THE MOTHER WITH YOU! Surely there's a place where they could hide them together! This really sent up a red flag for me because the authorities were saying nothing bad about the mom. No 'squalid living conditions' no 'drug abuse', nada. I really see no purpose for keeping the family apart, unless it is a threat to make the mom cooperate with some investigation. Quote

I mean, at the very least this newborn is legal. I'm not comfortable with the idea of removing kids from homes of illegals only for that reason. It would clog the system further, and more truely suffering kids would be left with their abusers. Quote

I think JD might be on to something. I would be totally flipping out if I got to hold my baby for only a few hours and then the rest of the kids taken. What the children must be going through! Quote

As much as we like to rant and rave about those evil government people, I would think they wouldn't take the children unless these kids are in real danger and the mother cannot protect them. Perhaps they are living in horrible conditions; perhaps the father/boyfriend is a danger; perhaps the mother cannot care for them. Due to confidentiality, we may not know the whole story. I'm willing to assume these professionals are compassionate and are truly looking after the children's welfare. Quote

What kind of mother does that? I know they exist, sadly. Now, if they hadn't been in a rush, and she had been they type to sell her kids, how do you think everyone would feel (particularly the officials) if those kids had disappeared in the last 2 days while they investigated? I hope whomever made the allegation does get punished though. Otherwise there are tons of people who will make tons of allegations for petty revenge type reasons. Quote
