pam Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Anyone addicted to any of these applications on facebook? I'm not. I haven't tried any of these. But my cousins husband just contacted me wondering if I knew how to feed a baby whale as he has to feed it by 4:30 pst. His wife won't be home for several hours and needs him to do it. So I'm sitting here thinking, this is really sad when a computer program is dictating our lives for us. Quote
hordak Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 So I'm sitting here thinking, this is really sad when a computer program is dictating our lives for us.Said on a computer forum by a person with 24,220 post:p;)At least here the people are real, or at least i think Quote
pam Posted February 1, 2010 Author Report Posted February 1, 2010 Touche...but at least I don't have to set my alarm to feed an imaginary baby whale at 4:30 p.m. pst. Quote
Bini Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 I've given FB the cold shoulder. I only pop in once in a while to check my mail etc etc but I'm not much into any of the apps that everyone is addicted to. But feeding a baby whale? Aww, that's so tender :] I have a virtual pet on my page but he's been *cough* abandoned *cough* for many many months. Possibly a full year and then some.. I get messages from time to time telling me that he's "starving" and needs some "TLC" but I tend to promptly ignore them. I'm just a terrible online pet owner, I admit. Quote
pam Posted February 1, 2010 Author Report Posted February 1, 2010 Reminds me of the Tomagatchis my kids had when they were little. They each had one and they couldn't take them to school. So I would have to babysit them during the day so they wouldn't die. They were worse than taking care of real kids. lol Quote
john doe Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Tell him to just let it die and go on to the next fad. It's easier that way. Quote
pam Posted February 2, 2010 Author Report Posted February 2, 2010 He already asked me if I have a spare bedroom as his wife will probably kick him out for letting her baby whale die. Quote
Palerider Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I refuse to play those games.....:) Quote
Wingnut Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I refuse to play those games.....:)Me too. I was never interested in playing them, but now I've decided that there's no way that I can start because I know that once I start, I'll get addicted and spend way too much time playing them. Quote

Guest Godless Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I play poker on FB, and that's it. Quote
lydlou Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 i like farmvile, yoville and cafeworld. all my friends and fam are on mafia wars too. the trick is to do the tings that dont requier you you be there at a certian time. like in famvill I have lots of trees and animals, because they dont wither (like the entier field of rasberrys i planted this morning) Quote
miztrniceguy Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I don't play any of them either...I was thinking of writing so on my wall so as not to offend anyone who might invite me. I have one farmville "gift" waiting for me to open and I won't, but I haven't hit the "ignore" button because it is from my niece. I think farmville is the one thing in common that the conservatives, liberals, and progressives that populate my page have in common. Hmmmm....there's a thought.... Quote

Guest Alana Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I like some of those games. Sometimes it's nice to do something mindless, it relaxes me. The thing with those games on Facebook is that they do require you to keep it up or you feel like all your efforts have gone to waste. I played it for a month and realized I was spending too much time on there. My favorite game right now is Plants VS Zombies. Fun, kids like it, easy to pause at any moment. Quote

You can block those so that they don't even show up. Quote
talisyn Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I play green Spot on Myspace occasionally. It's a lot of fun. My mom plays Farmville but she's getting disenchanted because she's sending about 25 people a day stuff but she gets maybe 1 or 2 back. Quote
miztrniceguy Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I just don't want to block my niece. Quote
Guest xforeverxmetalx Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I play Mafia Wars fairly often, but not in the addicted omg-I-have-to-keep-playing-this way. It's mostly just entertaining for when I'm bored, like a lot of the things I do online.I have FarmVille and a bunch of those other apps on ignore though. I figure one FB game is about enough, and well mafias sound more fun than farms. I just don't want to block my niece. You're not blocking her, you're just blocking the game itself. Quote
RipplecutBuddha Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I'm already addicted to Day of Defeat...a soldier can't take time away from the battle to go tend a farm or *rolling eyes* feed a baby whale...isn't that what the tree-huggers are for? Quote
MorningStar Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I only play Scrabble on Facebook which doesn't require imaginary animals to suffer. Don't get me started on Mafia Wars. People are driving me crazy with that game. Thank goodness I was able to block Mafia posts, but it doesn't stop some of my relatives from talking about it constantly. Quote
WillowTheWhisp Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I ignore all the mafia wars and farmville and lil blue cove etc requests. I just get inundatedwith them. Life's too short for all that junk. Facebook itself is great though. It has helped me get back in touch with people who have moved away and who I haven't seen for ages. Quote
annamaureen Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 To be honest, I frequently hide my friends when too many of these Farmville type games start popping up in my news feed! Quote
Elphaba Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Anyone addicted to any of these applications on facebook?I haven't looked at them either. They look like I'd have to think hard, and I try, if at all possible, not to think. But a lot of people do seem to enjoy them. Edited to add: WORDTWIST!!!!Elph Quote
pam Posted February 2, 2010 Author Report Posted February 2, 2010 Wait till CM chimes in. His wife is totally hooked. lol Quote
