I found this story on snopes.com that I thought was interesting. Apparently it's a true story. I also thought the ending was pretty cute. It said:

As to whether or not small children can see God, perhaps it’s best to leave the last word to the following young lady:

A kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they drew. She would occasionally walk around to see each child’s artwork. As she got to the one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, “I’m drawing God.”

The teacher paused and said, “But no one knows what God looks like.”

Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, “They will in a minute.”

From the mouths of babes!

Do all children see God or angels? I don't really know but I believe that some do. And maybe we did too when we were once a baby. It might be part of our mortal development when during that time the veil is placed across our minds and we no longer remember.

Heavenly Father's Plan is so perfect.

Hi, Omega.

Do all children see God or angels?

Yes they do. That's what keeps them well-behaved until they turn 2.

The veil hits on the second birthday, which explains why the good behavior disappears.

When my daughter was very small she would stare at a spot on the wall for the longest time. It wouldn't matter what room, it was almost always the same spot. Sometimes she'd give the biggest smile to the wall (and not me!!!). I have a feeling I'll find out why in the next life :P

I'll tell you right now what it was. Here in America in polite company, we call it 'passing gas'. Even as I have grown older, I have had the same experience.

I like to think that children still have a close connection with god. Its been a very long time since I have shared this story with anyone (probably more than 20 years). But I figure this is the place to do it...

When I was 5 years old, my mother worked as a visiting in-home care assistant for the elderly. There was one particularly nice old lady named Mona. She never had kids of her own, but she really loved them! She always let me and the other neighborhood kids play in her yard while my mom cleaned her house. She made us cookies and everything. I liked her a lot!

Sadly, one day, Mona died. I was still only 5, I had known her less than a year. But she was like a second grandma to me.

My mother took me to see Mona's grave, and as we stood there, she tried her best to explain death to me. She said our bodies are like a glove, and our souls are like the hand inside that can make it move. But if our soul (or the hand) goes out, the glove just lays there, with no life in it. I tried my best to understand, and I asked if Mona was burried there in the grave. If she was trapped. My mom said only her body is burried. But her life and soul are free to go anywhere they want.

Then my mom started crying, and looking up at the sky, saying,

"Mona, where are you? Please come and see me, I miss you so much."

My mom never really got a long with her own mother, so Mona was sort of like the nice, loving mother she never had. She really loved Mona too, like I did.

Well, the grave was on a small hill. As we stood there, suddenly I heard Mona's voice say,

"I'm right here... Hold on, I'm comming."

I looked down the hill, and Mona was there!!! She was walking toward us very slowly. I was so excited, because while mom was explaining death, she also said that we would never see Mona again, until after we got really old and "went to heaven". When I saw Mona, I pointed at her, then turned to my mother and said,

"Look! There's Mona, right there!"

My mom turned to look... I could see Mona clear as day, but mom said,

"Where? What are you talking about?"

I kept insisting Mona was right there, and pointing, but my mom just looked at me kind of wierd... I didn't understand why she couldn't see her. Finally, I looked again, and Mona was gone.

To this day, I'm not sure if it was my child-like creative imagination, or if I REALLY saw something. But all I can say is, it was VERY real to me. And the memory is as clear as any other I have. Maybe some day I'll know.

When my oldest daughter was born and we brought her home from the hospital she looked towards a picture of Joseph Smith that we have on the wall and reached out her arms towards him. It felt to me like she recognised who he was.

A few years later we were visiting a town where none of us had ever been before and she said she recognised it and even described a building further along the road. When we got there is was just as she had described. Did she have memories of it from before her birth?

I had kind of the same experience Willow. I found my son who was six month at the time smiling. Trying to figure out why he was smiling so big, I turned around and there was a picture of Christ on the wall that he was looking at.

I don't mean to discount others experiences but given my children's responses to a big purple dinosaur and a red furry monster i (personally) wouldn't be quick to assume they see more based on these types of responses.

My mother heard this story a while ago. The friend had a young daughter (maybe four years old) and a new baby. Apparently one day, the mother overheard the daughter asking the baby, "can you tell me about Jesus? Because I'm beginning to forget."

Maybe it's one of those Mormon "urban legends" but it's neat anyway.

on a serious note I don't have any memory of seeing either... but I have met people who have seen angels when they were younger.
