marshac
I have a problem with "leaking" strategic information and am not sure how it differs from treason- I do have a problem with suppressing the true cost of wars we chose to engage in simply for political purposes. Moksha
Revealing blunders could affect somebodies security, but more likely on a career military or contracted level rather than anything national.
Just_A_Guy
It will be ironic indeed if these disclosures ultimately force the President's hand into a full-fledged occupation of Pakistan. Or if they wreck our working relationship to the point that the President has to ultimately pull us out of what he and the rest of his party always maintained was the "good war"

NeuroTypical
Aren't some leaks on purpose to manipulate the media?A better way to put it: People in a position of power try to manipulate public thought in various ways. The media is one tool they use. A "leak" is one method of employing that tool.
Mahone
Interestingly, on the wikileaks page regarding this, a new encrypted file has been posted called "insurance". See for yourself: Afghan War Diary, 2004-2010 - WikiLeaksPotentially posted as insurance, in case anything happens to wikileaks or the founder? The file is heavily encrypted. Maybe a key will be released to decrypt the file if such a situation occurs... sounds a bit like Dan Browns Digital Fortress.See here for more info: Wikileaks Afghan War Diary Mirror
HoosierGuy
So what did we learn from the leaks? The war is going bad in Afghanistan. The sad thing is, the will prosecute the people behind the leak with all they got. But that still will not change the outcome of this war. We are losing with no direction. It proves that existentialism is true - hell is on earth. We are in with Saudi Arabia but they produce radical anti-American Muslims. We are supposedly allies with Pakistan but their government seems full of people who are against us. We are loyally bound to a country, Israel, who is hated by all the other countries in the area. What a mess. Like computer and home entertainment electrical cords all tangled together making one big knot.
