Jim Berkland predicts a major earthquake heading for the U.S. west coast.

Even if it doesn't happen this week like he's predicting, the logic seems to hold.*

*I, of course, know nothing about geology except what I retain from my High School earth science class (practically nothing) and the nice visuals provided on the video. So I'm not the best one to test the logic of the claim. But it's still an interesting claim.

California is going to have an earthquake?! Impossible!!!

(I put this article in the "duh" file. :P )

Earthquakes, tsunamies, hurricaines, floods, volcanic erupts, etc. etc. etc. The earth isn't stagnant. Everyone, everywhere runs the risk of having some act of Mother Nature come in and knock them off their feet.

Well, I know many have cried wolf before, but it is true that the moon is really close right now. If you have a chance go outside and get a look, tonight or tomorrow night it is supposed to be bigger than it has been for decades, and it does have a pull on the earth, so I wonder....

But I'm not gonna worry too much, there is nothing I can do about it now. Though I also find it weird that we have been getting earthquakes and we are smack in the middle of the continent. Nowhere is safe, that's for sure. I've just gotta stand in holy places.

We've been expecting the "big one" for over 30 years.

California is going to have an earthquake?! Impossible!!!

Well, and doesn't this prediction come up pretty much every time there's a major earthquake anywhere in the world?

One of the oddities I discovered when I moved from California to Utah, was how fond Utahns were of predicting that one day California will just fall into the ocean.

As a Californian, I found it annoying.

As an adopted Utahn, I now find it mildly amusing.

I used to believe that until I actually studied geology!

Utahans and their jealousies. What a turn-off ^_^

Yes, we Coloradoans are right next to the ideal place to be if the United States were to mysteriously start flooding.

Although I do wonder what the United States would do if this prediction were to come true. If "the big one" happened, how much of California would be affected? And what would that do to the U.S.?

That was obviously written by someone in Davis County. Their level of interaction with people living in the real world is lacking.

Hey..don't forget that my sister and your sister in law lives in Davis Co. :P

The sad thing is... I do have mild issues with people of Davis County.
