Jennarator Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I have what I need, (Although we don't have much money, I don't need much.) I never know what to ask for. My husband is asking what I want. I thought I would get ideas. What are you asking for for mother's day? Or on the same note, what are you getting for your mom/wife? Quote
Backroads Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I'll probably get a book. That is, if my husband has the sense to realize I should get something for mothers day as the future mother of his children. I'm planning on "giving" my mom the treadmill I got from Amazon Vine even though I can't technically give it to her. She's been whiney ever since she found out I got it. Quote

Bini Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 Hubby slipped up the other day and I found out that he has been planning a "momma-to-be" surprise this Mother's Day. I thought that was very sweet. At this point though, not sure what exactly it is.. I'm pretty sure he's going to take me out to either brunch or dinner and then something else..Buuut.. for my mum I'll probably be sending her a greeting card and some chocolate covered jelly beans (those are her favourite treat!). I wish I could do more but it's a bit difficult when she lives far away.. A couple years ago I ordered this awesome cactus from California and had it shipped to her front door! She loved it! Fully grown it should be about 4-6 feet tall. I can't remember exactly what it was called but it was something like "The Golden Torch"? It sprouted these beautiful full flowers.. Absolutely gorgeous. She loves to garden and so really enjoyed planting this one in her backyard :] Quote
classylady Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I would like a new watch. An inexpensive one is fine--just something that isn't too big and bulky and I can still read the dial. Quote
Blocky Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 I said "Honey, this Sunday is mothers day. I want flowers, for you to have the kids to draw me pictures and to relax when I get home from church." I did not include any 'this would be nice' or 'something like this' or 'if you feel like it' because it just works better if I say exactly what I want with no way to confuse it. I suppose you could confuse 'relax when I get home' with 'I want to make dinner while you play video games' but I cleared up that confused two years ago. Quote
pam Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 I want this by Liz Lemon Swindle:But since it's a bit too pricey, I've asked for an IPOD Nano or some kind of MP3 player. Quote
mightynancy Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 New flooring for the upstairs bathroom. :) Quote
Guest Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 We don't give store bought presents on Mother's and Father's day - not even greeting cards. My husband usually does the breakfast in bed stuff, the kids usually make a card, then I don't have to do lunch nor dinner nor clean-up. It's an awesome day. I call my mother, and my husband calls his mother. That's it. Quote
zippy_do46 Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 (edited) Pam, I love that picture... I put a sign on the door of the house that says, "MOTHER needs your help for mother's day". We are working on floors at the house and this "old lady" does floor work very slowly. So far it worked. I had my daughter and her daughter show up to help. The best gift they could give me. Wingnut Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 I've been so busy with the truffle project that I haven't had time to think about Mothers' Day for myself, my mom, or my mother-in-law. It hasn't even occurred to me to ask for anything. Quote
pam Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 My kids are used to me answering "nothing" to their questions about what I would like. I think my son was quite surprised this year when I actually came up with something. He probably thought he was going to get out of spending money. :) Quote
