Calling Significant Others "Baby"

Because I was raised with the idea from romantic songs in the '60s and '70s.

That's not one we've felt compelled to use either, though I do find myself calling my husband "Babe" now and then. But he is a total babe, so. . .

As a teenager, I was listening to the radio one day and remember counting 80 something songs that referred to someone as "baby".

So "Be My Little Baby" (not sure of the actual title) is not a song about adoption?

If we're getting our terms of endearment from songs, we should be calling our sweethearts "Baybay", not "Baby".

I call Sister Vort "baby" occasionally. I have done so since before we were married. She has never expressed displeasure at my use of the term, so I have had no particular cause to change.

It bugs me and fortunately my husband doesn't call me "baby" or "babe" or "sweetie" He might get slapped if I was in the wrong mood. Maybe he knows this. LOL
