carlimac Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 (edited) I think it was obvious but since you asked: We love drama and controversial topics.Well, is there anything wrong with trying to discuss contemporary issues that have potential eternal consequences? For me, homosexuality and this gay marriage thing is the most befuddling and distressing thing I've come across in relation to gospel principles. It helps to discuss it with others who might have more insight than I do. I've learned a ton from this board about it all. It's far worse for me than any Church history topic. I'm at peace with all that. But the LGBT agenda plus the moral decay and dishonesty in our govt. leaders just gives me the heebie jeebies, especially when I think about the future my children and grandchildren have to live through. So you may be making light of it all, but to some of us, this board is a great source of information and education. Suzie Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 Obviously, standing up in defense of what is right..going on the offensive instead of just passively letting the uninformed masses (Babylon) destroy civilization. (just Bytors take on the comment)How exactly this new ruling will cause the destruction of civilization? Or are you just using hyperbole? Quote
Suzie Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 For me, homosexuality and this gay marriage thing is the most befuddling and distressing thing I've come across in relation to gospel principles. I don't know you personally but I can perceive through your posts how you feel about this particular topic. We see it differently I guess and I personally do not feel emotionally attached to it, and before you think I am saying you do...no, I am not saying that, I am just trying to say I try to separate my thoughts from my emotions when discussing topics of this nature. So you may be making light of it all, but to some of us, this board is a great source of information and education. It is indeed, and I never said it wasn't for me. I was trying to make a comment to put everyone at ease since this sort of threads (as you know) usually end up being closed by moderators because the whole "discussion" gets out of hand very quickly. jerome1232 Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 It seems that the ninth circuit is giving California 25 days to appeal the Judge Walker's decision before they lift the stay on it. Quote
talisyn Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 TBH I'm much more concerned with what happened with the Voting Act of 1965 and how amazingly fast...almost as if by magic...some states were to enact changes to their voting regulations. If I were suspicious, I'd say the DOMA and Prop 8 rulings were to give the other ruling cover, because it sure dropped out of the media feeds like a boulder in the ocean. Here, gay people, have a marriage. Just don't plan on unencumbered voting if you live in these districts lol Quote

The swing vote between Shelby County and Windsor was Anthony Kennedy; and he derives much of his personal influence from the fact that he isn't a "safe" member of either the liberal or the conservative wing of the court. Exactly. We will all have to suffer these calamities, so it's a pretty big deal. Quote
bytor2112 Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 (edited) How exactly this new ruling will cause the destruction of civilization? Or are you just using hyperbole?Come listen to a Prophets voice:This heinous homosexual sin is of the ages. Many cities and civilizations have gone out of existence because of it. It was present in Israel’s wandering days, tolerated by the Greeks, and found in the baths of corrupt Rome. This is a most unpleasant subject to dwell upon, but I am pressed to speak of it boldly so that no youth in the Church will ever have any question in his mind as to the illicit and diabolical nature of this perverse program. Again, Lucifer deceives and prompts logic and rationalization which will destroy men and make them servants of Satan forever. Paul told Timothy:“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;“And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Tim. 4:3–4; see also Moses 5:50–55.)“God made me that way,” some say, as they rationalize and excuse themselves for their perversions. “I can’t help it,” they add. This is blasphemy. Is man not made in the image of God, and does he think God to be “that way”? Man is responsible for his own sins. It is possible that he may rationalize and excuse himself until the groove is so deep he cannot get out without great difficulty, but this he can do. Temptations come to all people. The difference between the reprobate and the worthy person is generally that one yielded and the other resisted. It is true that one’s background may make the decision and accomplishment easier or more difficult, but if one is mentally alert, he can still control his future. That is the gospel message—personal responsibility.- President Kimball Edited June 29, 2013 by bytor2112 Quote
