Well, today was my last day at work. It seems the last few weeks have flown past. I'm taking the family to Williamsburg next week for a vacation (Busch Gardens, Jamestown, the works) before I report on the 25th. We'll have almost 2 weeks of loading equipment and preparation until we fly out on July 5th. Our sister unit left Wednesday; they are going to Kuwait, where at least no one is shooting.

What stinks is I had tickets to the Thunder Valley Nationals at the Bristol Dragway in May (my son loves drag racing), and they postponed the races until 6-8 July! What a bummer.

I don't know yet if I'm coming back to the same job; I'll have my Computer Science degree finished before I get back, so I may make a change.

Anyway, it gets closer every day, and it seems to be going very quickly now. Every now and then I look around my home and get that feeling: soon I won't be around any of this.

I hope you DO get access to a computer and can visit us once in awhile...I WILL miss you, and will be praying for your safe return.

Thanks guys. We're going to be running the supply and logistics operations (ammunition, water, fuel, etc.) for Al Asad Air Base, just outside Fallujah. Should be interesting.

"ingteresting" isn't the word that I would use, but my prayers will be with you and with ALL the troops over there.

Just rember, don't be in the soft skinned hummer right behind the fueler, or the LMTV hauling ammo, both seem to have big red RPG targets on the side of them :D

Also, you said you will have a comp sci degree...you should really go WO if your going to stay in for a while, the 251-A Information Systems Technician WO, is a really nice job from what I hear, what is your MOS now though?

God Speed! Not the clock, but God Speed your efforts and your sacrifice in the service of you fellow man. I thank you and your family for this.

I'd say the clock too. May the time pass quickly so that you can be back with your family. Be safe and we'll hear from you REALLY soon.

I'm doing pretty well, all considered. We got back from our vacation yesterday, and it was great. :) I report the day after tomorrow, of course, and we fly on the 5th of July. At least until the 5th I'll be home at night.

Is there any way you can keep the board apprised of how you are while on your tour? Or perhaps your wife could do it, if she were willing? Just simple posts describing your status, sent in, say something like three -month intervals.

I don't know you well, but every soldier matters to me, and knowing of one who personally is on his way over there brings tears to my eyes. You are a very brave man, (even if you think otherwise), and I'd like to know that you are okay.

I think Outshined is going to hook me up with his address over there (and I'll share it here) so people can send him packages.

Also, I believe he'll have internet access over there, so hopefully he can post once in awhile. B)

Correct on both counts, CK! I've already been in touch with the internet provider there; it's about 60 bucks a month, but worth every penny as far as I'm concerned (especially if I can split it with a buddy). ;)

That is awesome. I know I personally would like to know that you are well and safe.

Outshined, I wish you all the very best whilst you are in Iraq, and look forward to hearing how you and your fellow soldiers (US and British..cos I'm from UK) are doing...:)
