The thing that a lot of libertarians seem to be too dense to get is that you ALWAYS ask for vastly more than you want, because the enemy WILL insist on compromise.

 

I prefer a policy of honesty. You ask for what you want and then tell those who want to compromise to go pound sand.

How about next time using one of those little winky faces for those of us who are just plain dense. 

 

Well, let me clarify.  I have in private discussions suggested that this may be a good course of action -- to require people to purchase and learn to operate a gun to qualify for citizenship.

 

Would I ever publicly endorse such a policy such as getting signatures for a ballot measure?  I thought about it for a minute way back when I was discussing it with a friend and concluded pretty much what you wrote.  A part of me still thinks that would be a dream come true.  But my libertarian philosophy says, "No."
