How to reference a forum poster’s handle

If I type @handle  I do not get the same look as I see other posters referencing a handle.  What is the secret?

When you type @mordorbund, a dropdown will start to form. You have to select from the dropdown the name you want (you can click on it, or use the arrow keys and hit tab when you find it (you also don't have to type the full name, it will provide a list of users based on what you've typed so far (which should be useful given your history of typos (inception-level parenthesis)))). If you just type @mordorbund it gets treated as text and you haven't actually tagged anyone.

@mordorbund Thanks for your input - Because I have no chance to spell correctly - I type my posts in "Word" and then copy it into the forum window.

It worked! I got a notification that I was tagged.

Since you write in a different editor, I'll tell you something else I noticed. If you start with paste @mordorbund into the site, you don't get the dropdown. You'll have to delete that word and manually type it in.

Also remember that sometimes there is a glitch in the website software that does not register it as a handle.  It believes it to be simple text.  The only way around that is to complete the post, edit the post, place the handle at the bottom of the posting window, and list will start to appear.  Pick it.  Then cut/paste into the desired location.
