Monson saw him literally give the shirt off his back. Stories about his selflessness were legion. "The image of him I will cherish until I die is of him flying home from then–economically devastated East Germany in his house slippers because he had given away not only his second suit and his extra shirts but the very shoes from off his feet," Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, decades-long friend and fellow LDS Church leader, once recounted Sunday21 and the Ogre 2 Quote
the Ogre Posted January 3, 2018 Report Posted January 3, 2018 I just read the news and then said a prayer of thanks for President Monson's decades of hard work. In my prayer, I also thanked the L-rd for President Nelson. I'll be thanking the L-rd for President Monson for quite a while. He was a special man and a wonderful leader of the church. He will be missed. pam, Midwest LDS, Jane_Doe and 1 other 4 Quote
Midwest LDS Posted January 3, 2018 Report Posted January 3, 2018 Yoy know I shed a few tears this morning. I loved President Monson. He was the first General Authority I could listen to when I was a kid, because I loved his stories. He was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, and it warms my heart to know he is back with his beloved Frances, and is with Our Lord and Savior who he loved so much. pam, Sunday21 and Jane_Doe 3 Quote

Guest MormonGator Posted January 3, 2018 Report Posted January 3, 2018 His "Dare to Stand Alone" speech is so inspiring and beautiful. Going to miss him, big big time. Quote
pam Posted January 3, 2018 Author Report Posted January 3, 2018 My thoughts are also with President Russell M. Nelson who will take on the monumental task of leading this Church as president and prophet. He is already 93. Midwest LDS, zil and the Ogre 3 Quote
