Not required, but some of us did that a long, long time ago because, well, "LDS" is not a religion. "Mormon" is not a religion.  "Latter-day Saint" is not a religion (though it is the preferred term for members, and people often answer the question of religion using the term that describes members: "Catholic" rather than "Catholicism", so maybe this is the best option).  "Mormonism" is not a religion (though it at least makes grammatical sense).  Of course, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" doesn't seem to fit the grammatical structure, but at the time, it seemed like the best option.  "The restored gospel of Jesus Christ" appears to be the preferred replacement (per the style guide).

@DennisTate, for many decades now the COJCOLDS church time on Sundays was three hours long. Starting this year, church time on Sundays is now 2 hours long. So since that 3rd hour is no longer spent on Sundays at church, members of this forum can spend it here. 😊
