Just thinking about eternity scares me. I don't like things that have no end. That has to be an end.

Your thoughts?

Great thoughts.

Personally my mind cannot comprehend it right now. It does scare me a little, and it fills me with wonder and gratitude, that I can be a part of it.

I think part of our obstacle to comprehending it is:

1) The effects of the Fall of Adam.

2) We have not been resurrected yet.

3) We live in a world bound by time.

4) Generally, we're an impatient lot, particularly myself.

Alma 40: 8

8 Now whether there is more than one time appointed for men to rise it mattereth not; for all do not die at once, and this mattereth not; all is as one day with God, and time only is measured unto men.

There are moments in earth life when I would like it all to end!!! I am saying that in between loads of laundry! ;)

Seriously, I don't fear the eternities. I think there will be much in the way of learning and new adventure and lots of horizons left to explore. Who knows? Maybe there will be more endings..... we just don't know about them yet.

I hear you SOOOO loud and clear!

Which is why eternity will be so much better. No Walmarts. They are banned from the Celestial Kingdom. If I ever heard a reason for going there, that would be it.

Eternity is so unfathomable to me. Like people have said it is because we are ruled by time; twenty-four hours in a day no more no less, daylight savings time, get to school on time and work and church and activities. What other existence can there be? It's a worthy question :\

Walmart is a great place top work. I'm just not to fond of babysitting machines that act like hyperactive 3 year olds and customers who are mean.

It seems time actually goes slower while manning the self check outs.

You know, it does scare me. When looking at the universe and its beauty (and through this, the grander of G-d), I know I am such a little person and that terrifies me. I also know G-d said H- was Alpha and Omega, the beginning and end, an eternal personage, and through Joseph Smith that I am as well and that G-d would help me grow to reach across time as H- does. This is a little more heartening. What scares me, but also motivates me, is the need to endure to the end.

Now this little cliche is what makes some people think there is an end. If there is an end, it is to this life and the eventual judgement when all endeavor ends.

I believe that we live in a universe of transitions. So, there is not end, merely transitions, and that seems pretty cool to me.

Therefore, the answer for me is yes and no.

No because of the above, yes because I'm afraid of failing, of being alone, of not being good enough. So afraid in fact that I have to detach myself from all emotions to simply type that otherwise I'd have a panic attack. This is harder to do than you think.

I must always remember that fear is the opposite of faith, that such fear does not come from Heavenly Father but from the adversary.

Very nice. Thank you, Ruthie.

Not scary at all! what really would scare me would be an impending end and not being able to love my family again.:)

I understand the Murdock Media Empire will only operate "down below" as well. ;)

Like those long hours manning the self checkout lanes at work? (Walmart)

Absolutely, the Borg will be slated for outer-darkness (I work WalMart as well in produce--do you prefer 4011s or 4135s?).

Me: Hopeless romantic. Idealist.

I know from personal experience that love lasts forever. Even if I can't wrap my mind around the concept of eternity, my heart understands and embraces it. No fear, only hope.

It's estimated that you spend 60% of your life standing in line. Then you find out it's the wrong one...

I once worked in a branch of a bank where there was nothing to do all day because there were so few customers and it was incredibly boring. We used to fight over the phone calls and the occasional customer who did come in. The days seemed long and I was always tired. If I thought eternity would be boring like that then I would dread it. I used to think of the sitting on a cloud playing a harp scenario and I definitely didn't want to go to 'Heaven' if it was going to be like that. But I don't think it's going to be boring at all. I think it is going to be dynamic and exciting with new things to learn and new things to do all the time.

I have to admit though that trying to comprehend eternity or infinity makes my brain hurt.
