  1. Thanks so much for sharing this!! We can truly learn from those of other faiths!!
  2. If you read my post.....I didn't say women would not be on the list......I only said that perhaps more men then women would be on it.
  3. The church strongly recommends adoption. However more times then not it is the grandparents that have "issues" with having their grandchild adopted. If the birth mother chooses adoption the would be grandparents need to completely support that decission. In many many cases (but not all) where the girl decides to keep the child it is raised by and 100% financially supported by the grandparents till adulthood.
  4. I am going to take a brief aside for just a moment: If every one that has posted here would/could think of the 10 or even 20 most influential individuals in history were.....Would that list be made up as mostly male?? My guess is that it probably would be. I think (IMHO) that it is a historical and cultural accurance. Does it diminish the role of women? No, absolutely not! Women have been and continue to be honored and revered in the gospel. As a prime example, who did Jesus first appear to after his death? Just my 2 cents.
  5. Hello and welcome to the site!!!
  6. Thanks for all the words.............. I am actually doing rather well with the whole infertility thing. It has just affected my faith to the point of being able to pray. I lack the faith.....I lack the desire. I have the attitude that of "it is just me" why on earth would He (Heavenly Father) care about me. Before you say anything I KNOW....He knows me, He Loves Me, He wants whats best for me...................hmmm don't think so. Don't get me wrong..............I love Him, I honor Him. I know that this is His gospel. Yes Colorado does rock!!! I lived and went to school there for a short time and absolutely loved it!
  7. Not sure is this needs to go here or in "Gospel Discussion" so Mods...please feel free to move. A little bit of history: I have been inactive for almost three years. The last six monthes I have been attending again, when my work schedule allows. The main reason for the inactivity is that it simply hurt too much to go. My dh and I have struggled with our inability to not have kids and attending church was just another reminder of what we didn't have. I simply had the choice to go to church and come home heart broken and tearful. So I simply stopped going. My husband recently put in an application in Colorado. I would have the chance to continue my education which is something that I have felt very compelled that I NEED to do. Plus there are other benefits of being there. Here is my dilemma..................I am scared to pray about it. I know it sounds silly but I am scared to do it. I have prayed so hard and so long to be a mother and still can't tell you if I ever rc'd an answer. Here I am wanting this change and I am scared because it seems that the things I want most I simply can't have. So..............there you have it.:confused:
  8. Thanks for the intel...I expect the gangs would last about 5 minutes longer than the cowboys. Hey................be nice to us cowboys (and cowgirls)!!!! P.S. I am NOT from Texas
  9. Rule 1: No demin for Sunday Church. A guy would never wear Levi's to Church - what make women think it is alright? WoW!!!! I have been breaking that rule for years!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I grew up in rural/western Wyoming and I have seen "new" wranglers worn to church w/ a crisp iron/starched white shirt, a bolo tie or a silk bandana tied around the neck. So.................I can't say that I agree w/ rule #1. A good rule of thumb to follow is if an apostle/prophet should up on your front door, school, or work would you feel "modest" in your clothing choice.
  10. Hello and welcome to the site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Easter From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Easter 16th century Russian Orthodox icon of the Descent into Hades of Jesus Christ, which is the usual Orthodox icon for Pascha. Observed by Most Christians Type Christian Significance Celebrates the resurrection of Jesus 2009 date April 12 (Western) April 19 (Eastern) 2010 date April 4 (both Western and Eastern) Celebrations Religious (church) services, festive family meals, Easter egg hunts, and gift-giving (latter two, especially in USA and Canada) Observances Prayer, all-night vigil (almost exclusively Eastern traditions), sunrise service (especially American Protestant traditions) Related to Passover, of which it is regarded the Christian equivalent; Septuagesima, Sexagesima, Quinquagesima, Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, Lent, Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday which lead up to Easter; and Ascension, Pentecost, Trinity Sunday, and Corpus Christi which follow it. Christianity portal Easter (Greek: Πάσχα, Ethiopic: ፍሲካ, Pascha) is the most important annual religious feast in the Christian liturgical year.[1] According to Christian scripture, Jesus was resurrected from the dead three days[2] after his crucifixion. Christians celebrate this resurrection on Easter Day or Easter Sunday[3] (also Resurrection Day or Resurrection Sunday), two days after Good Friday and three days after Maundy Thursday. The chronology of his death and resurrection is variously interpreted to be between A.D. 26 and 36. Easter also refers to the season of the church year called Eastertide or the Easter Season. Traditionally the Easter Season lasted for the forty days from Easter Day until Ascension Day but now officially lasts for the fifty days until Pentecost. The first week of the Easter Season is known as Easter Week or the Octave of Easter. Easter also marks the end of Lent, a season of fasting, prayer, and penance. Easter is a moveable feast, meaning it is not fixed in relation to the civil calendar. Easter falls at some point between late March and late April each year (early April to early May in Eastern Christianity), following the cycle of the Moon. After several centuries of disagreement, all churches accepted the computation of the Alexandrian Church (now the Coptic Church) that Easter is the first Sunday after the Paschal Full Moon, which is the first moon whose 14th day (the ecclesiastic "full moon") is on or after March 21 (the ecclesiastic "vernal equinox"). Easter is linked to the Jewish Passover not only for much of its symbolism but also for its position in the calendar. Cultural elements, such as the Easter Bunny and Easter egg hunts, have become part of the holiday's modern celebrations, and those aspects are often celebrated by many Christians and non-Christians alike.
  12. Congrats................ sadly as I have no kids I can't offer much advice
  13. Being a gal from Wyoming.................. Love This!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. I am not an investor nor am I financial savvy, but I do know that with any investment there is a risk. It is my understanding that before on leaps....one needs to be prepared for the fall.
  15. In many aspects I agree with you. Home ownership is a fine goal and one in which we should all obtain. However, not all of us can afford $300,000 to $500,000 (or more) homes. We, as a society need to live within our means. We can't expect to have everything all at once, it simple takes time. I truly feel for the ones who are attempting to own a home that they "truly" could afford and due to unemployment are losing it.
  16. sorry all I am going to bore you all w/ a story......and yes it is true................... When I was young my father was severely burned (58%). To make a long story short he looked and to this day his body looks horrible. I will NEVER forget being in that burn unit and seeing my mother hold his hand. Right there and then without a doubt I knew what love was. Love is more then a mere attraction it is more then just a feeling. It simply is so much more. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would hope that my husband would still love me if I was unable to loss wt. due to medical conditions. If she is unwilling to loss wt. maybe just maybe it is her self-esteem is the issue. Maybe he needs to help her w/ that. just my 2 cents
  17. All I can say is WOW!! I always have believed that life is precious and should be protected.
  18. I have never been to a disciplinary council, however it is my belief that when individuals hear "disciplinary" they think they are standing in front of a firing squad. It is my understanding that the whole process is done with love. Perhaps that is the one point that she needs to hear.
  19. Not sure if this has already been stated, so if it has, my apologies..... IMO, I think we as members of our LDS faith tend to put any one that is of our faith high on a pedestal. When they (either as a individuals or as a group) fall from that pedestal we can have a heard time forgiving them of their acts. However, when we do this we are only hurting ourselves. Our faith is full of unique individuals who are all attempting to live the gospel to the best of their abilities. Their "best" can only be seen as such in our Heavenly Father's eyes........... I am guilty of holding the bar higher for individuals when I myself need to work on raising my own bar. Just my 2 cents........
