  1. Here is your answer............from LDS.org Modern-day temple fonts are patterned after the brazen sea in the Temple of Solomon. The sea sat in the outer court of the temple and was used by the priests to wash themselves before they performed sacrifices at the altar. It rested on the backs of twelve oxen, which represented the twelve tribes of Israel.
  2. I am thankful for a loving Heavenly Father who loves us and who is mindful of our needs. I am so thankful for a loving husband who I completely adore. He is truly my anchor when life gets stormy. I am thankful for the men and women who are serving our country and protecting our freedom.
  3. Bonjour!!!!!!! My french isn't nearly as good as FunkyTown's. But welcome!!!
  4. All I can say is ditto to Mahone. My older brother had the opportunity to guard the Pres. of the United States at Camp David. He was not active but I remember a conversation we had. He stated that it would be a higher honor and a far better priviledge to guard a Prophet of God then the Pres. of the United States.
  5. You have probally heard this a million times................its the people that are treating you ill and NOT the gospel. Does that make it any easier...absolutely not. Even though I am not in your current situation I am in one as well (my dh and I are unable to have children). It is imho, that when individuals (or couples) don't fit in the norm of a typical LDS family it is hard for those that do to understand their specific needs. Basically I believe that there is awhole lot of assuming going on .... on both ends of the spectrum. We who live those lives need to educate those who don't. Also, and this comes from my own experience, that we might need to swallow a bit of pride and ask for help. People don't know its needed if it isn't asked for. Go to church to be uplifted and edified. Don't go because you have to, go because you want to. I allowed my feelings to get in the way and became inactive for over 2 years. It was/is a strugle to go, but I know that is where I need to be. Hang in there Debs, our Lord is mindful of us who simply don't fit in. (((hugs))) Les
  6. LOL............your welcome!!
  7. what about Ken.............ie Barbie and Ken
  8. What people tend to forget is that we do have universal health care in the US. It is called medicare and medicaid. IF that is what is going to be the basis for our healthcare then I can see huge problems.
  9. ok...................alittle over whelmed:o both dh (dear husband) and I have 401k---------------------- I would like to invest (don't know if thats the right word) a little (don't want all our eggs in the same basket) but I also don't want those funds locked away in something that we can't get it out in cause something major does happen. so...............................yep still confused:confused:
  10. I will be the first to admit that I am the least financial savvy individual there is. Where on earth can I learn about investing, IRA's and such? Is there such a thing as "Finances For Dummies"??
  11. I agree with Loudmouth_Mormon 100% don't hush!!! These stories need to be told there is a voice that has to be heard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When my dh and I were first married a coworker was in an abusive relationship. She happened to live rather close to us and one night while dh was at work she called me her boyfriend was attempting to beat down the door. I immediately called 911 and thank heaven they got there in time. I have seen the abuse and I am thankful for you ladies that have the courage to stand up and be heard!!

  13. A triathon is what I am training for. 1000m swim, 30 mile bike and a 6mile run. I am looking for some smaller ones that might not kill me. )
  14. Wow!! I am attempting..............key word attempting to get in to running. Not a runner, have always considered myself a swimmer!! As I slowly attempt it is great to see even the small accomplishments such as seeing my pulse rate recover more quickly. My goal is to be able to run 6 miles by June.....don't know if I bit more off then I am able but I am still trying. If I don't get the six done by June I will still plan on it by September.
  15. "If the Church allowed critics and opponents to choose the ground on which its battles are fought, it would risk being distracted from the focus and mission it has pursued successfully for nearly 180 years. Instead, the Church itself will determine its own course as it continues to preach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world." The Public Delemma, LDS Newsroom March 9, 2009. All I can add is....isn't it great that we are lead by a Prophet of God!!
