Allmosthumble, HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREETINGS!
-
In my ward I know of a couple that went to the Bishop with financial difficulties and explained that because of their creditors, that they were unable to pay a full tithe without having to file for bankrupcy and he told them that because of their situation....that they were still paying an honest tithe and he gave them a Temple recommend.

Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is an annual one-day holiday to give thanks for the things one has at the close of the harvest season. In the United States, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November, and in Canada it is celebrated on the second Monday in October. In the United Kingdom, Thanksgiving is another name for the Harvest festival, held in churches across the country on a relevant Sunday to mark the end of the local harvest, though it is not thought of as a major event (compared to Christmas or Easter) as it is in other parts of the world. This tradition was taken to North America by early settlers, where it became much more important. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgivings M. Maureen, Thanks for the information. I was in chat on Thanksgiving and wishing people a Happy Thanksgiving and a person told me that Canadians don't celebrate it, but that was wrong then...they just celebrate it earlier.

Thanks everyone for the lovely wishes!! And thanks begood2 for the Star Trek birthday wishes, makes it even more special. Which "series" did you get? I have the first season DVD set of Enterprise. When they first came out here in Canada they were selling at horrendous prices, but now they're even worse; it's crazy. Thanks again everyone and Happy "American" Thanksgiving! M. Yes, I have the First season too, but I'm saving for the second and third season!

Megg, Are you from Canada? Thanks for the wish. May your day be special too!

President Hinkley Speaks At Byu On Halloween
begood2 replied to StrawberryFields's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
For 96 years old, President Hinckley seems in remarkable health! He is also now the oldest living prophet that the LDS church has ever had. I hope that he can continue in that role for several more years. -
So, as much as this may contradict socially conservative sensibilities, maybe we should have judges who legislate from the bench? (Just kidding!!!!) Good thing that you were joking PC....because I kind of think that they already are...lol

SF, I'm so happy for Nick and the rest of the family. This is indeed great news to shout from the roof tops!!! I'm so happy that you are a member of this site because you have shown us all, so many important aspects of what is truly important in life....like family, patience, endurance through difficult times and a loving and caring attitude for all. May God Bless Your Family!

Ok, you win! I've had enough....lol.

SF, What he is trying to say is that if the Christians invented Halloween to help the former pagans adjust to Christianity ....then they failed, because it seems today that a large number of people are turning toward not away from paganism.

Dr. T., I'm not too sure about that, because I've not heard from john yet.

john doe, I'm glad that you're looking so good for being 101 years old today. Happy Birthday! PS: Sorry that I couldn't put all 101 candles on the cake without sticking them in the sides and that wouldn't look very good. Best Wishes!

Hey Dancergirl, I loved your post. Thanks for sharing it!
-
Insert (great post), I enjoyed reading your post. I also agree with you that it's not our place to be judging other people's worthiness and attire for church attendance. PS: I hope the lady that you spoke of that was investigating the church decides to return.

I thought that the Marriage Impossible video was funny.

Maybe you would like to start with just the sacrament meeting instead of all three meetings? There is a short break between the meetings and some leave, because they are unable to stay for all three. The majority stay, but they don't make fun of those that have to leave early in my ward.

Not all the time....there are some really sharp one on here too! :)
-
Heather, I would like to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Shanstress, I don't think it is so much a matter of does it offend or not offend, but how we chose to deal with the offense. If something offends you and you look the other way and pretend that it never happened....do you think that the the person committing the offense knows that they have done something offensive? Maybe not......that's why I feel that the offender should be told that what they are doing is offensive to you....but it should be done with a clear head and in a non-confrontational manner. I have never once gone to forum and told the majority of its members that a good many of their beliefs were wrong as you have done so time times in the past. The reasons this post offended me is because it sounds like your saying that some of us are so stupid that we must plug our ears or make up excuses as to why others have left the church, because if we used our minds then we would more than likely leave too.
