  1. Setheus,I agree with Lindy. The service men and women have my deepest respect and prayers. this war on terrorism is going to be very difficult to win. I think God that no one in your group got hurt by this girl. Even though this girl was being used as a pawn by these depraved adult male relatives it would not have been morally wrong to have shot her, because the safety of you and your men is a priority. Where I work, I have talked to some of the older workers, that were veterans from the Vietnam war, and they told me that the Viet Cong used children as human bombs to kill US solders then as well. I just hope that the American public has the resolve to stay in the fight until victory has been achieved.
  2. Winnie, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. I know how they can become part of the family. My mother lost her dog, "Sugar Bear", this spring. He was about the same age. He was very smart and gentle. He was also very active until about a week before he died. We all still miss him, but we try to think about the fun times we had, instead of dwelling on his death. I hope that you can find some comfort in my post and enjoy your vacation with your family. :)
  3. Setheus, I agree with Lindy, SF and LT, and think that you are too hard on yourself. God not only sees our faults, but also the good things that we do in this life. :) I have read several of your post, and I can see a good man that has compassion for others. You seem to have a special guardian ability in your advise to the younger and/or more vulnerable posters. :) As a soldier, you are also a protector of our country. Without this protection, we would not be able to enjoy the freedoms that we have become accustomed to. :) If you haven't already done so .... take a look at the thread : "Just A Reminder, To Remember". Lindy shares a poem by: Dennis Edward O"Brien, Chaplain United States Marine Corp. I think that this poem is just great and have added it to my collection!
  4. Shawn, Yes, I'm going to live with God again. I know this because I make my faith in Jesus Christ a priority in my life. I'm not perfect and I sometimes make mistakes, but I try to do my best each day and when I fail I ask God for his forgiveness. What I don't know is, what level of glory I will attain in heaven. I'm working to obtain the celestial kingdom, but I don't know if I will be able to follow the straight and narrow path for my entire life and avoid the temptations along the way.
  5. Lindy, Thank You! :)
  6. AMEN and very well said Begood2! SF, Thank You! :) I'm trying to provide a positive contribution.
  7. SF, I would like to be known as a helpful, loving, and caring person. :) I don't want to be known as someone that thinks that they are superior to others and puts others down, so that they can show the world their greatness.
  8. If I am only good at one thing....let it be to bring a smile to someone that needs it :) Lindy, your avatar makes me smile. :) I think that it is a cat, but it reminds me of my two tame raccoons that I raised from babies. :)
  9. Lindy, I found the Time article to be very interesting. Thank you for sharing. :)
  10. Setheus, I'm very thankful that we have brave men and women serving in the military. It is through their great scarifies that we are able to enjoy the freedom and security in the USA that we have become accustomed to. :) These men and women are the true heroes of our country ... not the sports characters or entertainment industry figures that the media makes such a ruckus over. It saddens the heart to learn about the death and injury of some of these fine protectors. I pray that their families and fellow military comrades can take some solace in knowing how thankful we, as citizens are, to their efforts. I also pray that most can return home safely! :)
  11. LaurelTree, I think that you have made several good points for regular church attendance! :)
  12. yb4bets, I think that it is great that you are trying to help your friend. :) I think that all of the posters have given some really good advice that you can share with your friend. After your friend has had time to ponder the suggestions that have been given ... I would then try to initiate a discussion about what the Savior's life means for us. (The Atonement). Jesus willingly and humbly went through the sorrow in Gethsemane and the suffering on the cross. This great sacrifice was made to pay for our sins and overcome death. This sacrifice of Jesus has paid the debt for us ... that we could not pay. All we need to do is come unto him, repent of our sins, and love him with all our hearts and follow his teachings ... to be saved.
  13. SF, I liked your "trolls" post!
  14. Marsha, I'm sorry to hear about your brother having cancer. I will put your family in my prayers. May God bless and comfort your family in this time of need.
  15. Traveler,You have a very interesting perspective on church and service! :)
  16. vb4bets, I think that estump has given you some very good ideas to try... I hope it will help your friend. I think that everyone would be better off having friends that care enough to help them get over the rough spots in life. :)
  17. If Michael's intentions were so honorable in Terri's case ... why did he: 1. Move in with another women and have children by her? 2. Refuse to allow most of the money that he won for her medical malpractice suit be used to try rehab? 3. Fight to keep other specialist from examining Terri and using more precise medical tools such as an MRI? 4. Terri was Catholic, it is not against church law, but the preferred form of internment is burial not cremation. So why was cremation chosen? 5. Michael won the court case to have the feeding tube removed and got custody of her remains ...so why did he feel that it was necessary to have the burial service without informing the parents , when and where it was going to be? 6. Why did he feel that it was necessary to make Terri's gravestone marker a political statement with the wording he had inscribed on it? When they make a movie and write a book about Terri ... I wonder if the political statement on the grave marker will be shown?
  18. SF, I think that summer is just so busy a time, that it is very hard to fit every thing in. With so many activities competing for our time, you almost need a 30 to 40 hour day to fit them all in!
  19. Service work is rewarding. One Saturday we went out to a disabled members house and put on a new roof for them. :)
  20. Jenda, The puppies look very nice!

    Alone.

Autumn, Thanks for your kind reply. :) I'm very happy that things are working out for you! :)
  22. LaurelTree, I hope the chat works out. I'm still working at that time however so I will not be able to join in.
  23. Jason, Good luck with your seminary studies! :) You are right, setting goals for oneself will be an aid in their fulfillment. :)
  24. Snow, It seems more like the priest was possessed with unchecked pride and ego that ruled the day. The legal system needs to show the Romanian Orthodox priest that his actions were entirely inappropriate.
  25. You don't know how close you are with this one believe me.....I was convinced I was worthless.... and it was my friends who kept me hoping for a better life after marriage. I had (and still have) the best friends anyone could ever ask for! Lindy, I think that your very cool, and I enjoy reading your post! :) Thanks begood2.....I'll have to add you to my friends list Lindy, I would be honored! :)
