  1. If you are faithful LDS and know without a doubt this gospel is true, sometimes even blind faith is what you do. If the prophet says something, it's time to excercise faith and believe with all your heart that he speaks truth and recieves revelation along with the fact that he IS human and can make mistakes. you just have to balance those two ideas. If you're struggling with the idea of the church, excercising opinion and asking questions is a must. So I don't think it's derogetory as a whole, but has it's little rough patches. haha. There's my complex view of it all.
  2. She needed to pay rent. Straight up. I don't care if you were mean about it, that was the agreement. She's just mad cause she's wrong. Don't back down. You were right for apologizing in losing your temper but seriously just stick to the fact that you were right in asking for the money. If she doesn't like that, good luck to her finding somewhere that will reason with her better than you did.
  3. "The problem is that calling homosexuality immoral is an opinion and a religious one at that. Enforcing a religious opinion on the rest of the public is where I have a problem." Perhaps those that are both heterosexual and homosexual are in fact in favor of same-sex marriage because of THEIR religious beliefs...what now?
  4. A lot of things, we Saints don't have control over. ie; murder, violence, pre marital sex...we can do our best to teach against it, but rarely do we have the opportunity to prevent it. In this case, letting same-sex marriages become legal would be like us watching a great opportunity to HELP these individuals from making a mistake. We aren't preventing this because we hate them or don't love homosexuals. We care about them and are trying to help them from going too far with something that is abomination in the eyes of God.
  5. Sooo Im' pretty positive that if The Prophet asks you to do something...probably ought to put all your little " logic " and stupid "personally, i believe..." crap behind. Proverbs 3:5-6 :)
  6. oh my gosh. wow. boo hoo...the church finally took a stand on something..its not like we're running around frantically with protest signs...seems like a pretty subtle approach to me to help out with our own beliefs here. If you're religion believes that same sex marriage is unauthorized by God, and homosexuality is an abomination in the eyes of God, why on earth would you watn to support and help other people to reach that point? I applaud Monson for stepping up and telling people to take a stand for what they believe.
  7. I think at this point it's just their way of saying it's time for us as members to lead by example, stand up and say " HEEEECKK NOOOO' marriage is too sacred and created for man and woman only.
  8. Hi everyone! I wanted to let you know that since Olive Garden doesn't accept reservations, we will just meet up in the foyer. I will be arriving at 4:45pm to get our spot and since we chose a good time to meet, they said it shouldn't be a long wait and that we won't have a problem getting a table. So everyone just make sure to meet at 5:00pm! If you come after 5:00pm when we've already been seated, I'm using the name Pam (haha) so you can just show up and say you're with Pam's group! Here's the information again. I am going to say a group of 15-20 ( Does that sound about right?) when I get there. Who: All Lds.net members When: June 26, 2008 (thursday) Time: 5:00pm Where: Olive Garden Address: South Towne Center - Olive Garden 10450 S State St Suite 2212 Sandy, UT 84070 Yahoo! 9. uuhh E for effort??? Have a nice day.
  10. Ask your bishop for now. But i did read a neat quote not to worry and run around frantic about who will be sealed to who and who is going to be married and who isnt right now. We will have time to sort things out accordingly in the next life.
  11. I guess it could be Christ-like if you REALLY think about it..."when ye do what i say I am bound but when ye do not what i say, ye have no promise" haha. I'm totally kidding these people are crazy.
  12. I guess you could say that! When the LDS church stopped the practice of polygamy, the church branched out and another group formed known as the FLDS that continued the practice. There was also the RLDS that branched off as well and they have the same basics but different practices as well! So yeah, you could probably say FLDS is another type of Mormon.
  13. You're so rad. I'm glad you're one of the people that didn't walk through life relying on what your parents told you. Definetely good taht you're finding out for yourself. I think it's different for everyone as far as "finding out it's true" and I guess I'll do the lame cliche' "you'll know it when you feel it" line...and I assume you've felt it and if you're still unsure, just pray like there's no tomorrow. The surpreme being you talked about likes to answer your questions :) Good luck!
  14. HAHA, you don't know me. I've had more experience than most women at my age. And am I really youth still if I'm 20??
  15. Pfff puhlease. Since when can you do a proof and just claim that something is " a given" like that? That's like saying a pen is the root of all evil and thats a given. SOOO if you can prove that time does in FACT equal money and that money is in FACT the root of all evil I might give this a second thought.
  16. Well now the problem is,..how do we all define " sex"???
  17. OKAY so...I was a teenager not long ago..as in im only 20 years old right now haha! If my parents sat us all down and had some kind of serious talk with us I would be mortified, but it would be very effective. I'd know that I wasn't going to get away with anything and that everyone was going to be watching me so I'd probably be emberassed and angry and who knows what else but I sure as heck wouldn't make a wrong move with everyone watching :). I have now been married almost 2 years and have a daughter of my own and I hope I never have to deal with the situation you're in. Good luck!!!
  18. I've always kind of felt like she's had a " I'm Oprah so my opinions are right" kind of attitude.
  19. We had about 8 seminary teachers and i had a bunch of them throghout higschool just because your schedule would determine who you had i guess...? Almost all of them had been there for a reeeeeally long time.
  20. Good question! I wouldn't say it's something to talk to your bishop about. Making out happens and you'll know if it crosses the line. Maybe if you're making out all the time to the point where its kind of a base of your relationship then that's an issue. But I don't know! haha. Good luck
  21. Haha, I'm with skalenfehl on this one. We're gonna stash ours in savings and use it for schooling and bills most likely. Woohoo!!
  22. I think they're nuts basically haha. They have this huge " It's unconsitutional" defense about the raid on their compound, but since when have THEY ever even followed the law??? Also, if they believe in the Book of Mormon (which they do), I think they missed the part that says " obey the laws of the land." I'm not a fan of them at all. But, I respect the fact that they truly believe they have the true church and that they have felt violated especially with the search in their temple. I would feel sick if the government did that with the LDS temple. So I can see where they're coming from somewhat. However, it doesn't make their religion true or right in any way, so they had it coming.
  23. Haha sheesh, ummm, that's quite the pickle. Are you bisexual then? Or just messing around with people?
