  1. I work at a clothing store so I actually get angry when they DON'T have them! hahaha, but yeah, just take those scissors and have at it! Sometimes they're nice to have also even if your blouse doesn't fall off a hanger, it's nice to use those loops instead so it doesn't stretch out your top. But other than that, they don't seem to serve a purpose! :)
  2. I think I remember hearing Jehovas Witnesses believe we'll be gardeners or something for God. We get to spend forever planting things? Hahaha, I'm not sure if that's right. But that's the first thing I thought of.
  3. Ooh I saw this a couple months ago and I loved it!
  4. And I have. Through prayer and study I've recieved personal confirmation from my Heavenly Father. Perhaps you're going about your questioning the wrong way?
  5. I actually think there were about 7 different accounts written by Joseph Smith. That's what a mission president said anyway (President Callister was his name, he has a few books out now I'm not sure of the first name sorry). Anyways, I believe it was made clear that with each account written it was because he remembered things differently as time went on and would remember other things later on and so on and so forth. I guess I'd compare it to any memory/dream you've had. As time goes on and you try recounting all the small details it gets harder and harder. But it doesn't mean it didn't happen.
  6. Bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla BLA.
  7. Say the words you just wrote in this post outloud....in a prayer.
  8. Joseph Smith was a prophet and if you can't humbly pray asking if that is true and using HIM as your confirmation (not us), then until then, perhaps this discussion doesn't need to go further.
  9. I think no matter what a persons motives, it's never a BAD thing to teach them about the gospel. Step by step I guess!
  10. Me too Royalist!! hahaha i was like ummmmmm how the heck do i respond to this one??? It did seem very urgent...he got that part across. But urgent about what specifically I couldn't quite catch.
  11. It does sound really extreme, but I think to the people that have a strong enough testimony/faith in their leader and prophet, it makes complete sense, and maybe to those that are still struggling with their testimony is sounds foolish.
  12. I dunno I think everyone picks certain things, points, ideas out of certain posts to respond to. Sometimes replies have nothing to do with the original post even....haha. I see where you're coming from but the throwing out " self righteous" is a going a liiiittle far on this one.
  13. My experience is that usually (usually being key word here) when someone accuses another of being self righteous, it's their way of expressing feelings of lack of superiority, truth and, well, righteousness. The guilty take the truth to be hard. I in no way saw any self righteousness in Bens postings, but it struck a nerve with you for SOME reason, possibly your own insecurities in that area of your life.
  14. That is an amazing quote apples!!! I love it! thank you!
  15. No one is unbreakable. Even the ones with the strongest testimony can fall. However, for something like politics it leads me to believe her testimony was shakable from the beginning or maybe she's been having doubts and other issues before this. All you can do is love her. The decision she's making may lead her to THINK she's truly happier, but you will witness her falling more and more. She needs you more than ever right now and she's lucky to have a great friend like you that cares for her.
  16. In another view of these points...I was thinking about the LDS church and how we teach sexual purity. From my experience ( mine..and i know everyones different), it felt like the boys at church were hounded relentlessly about staying pure and had all these serious talks. Even in Seminary they had this big deal where they seperated the boys into one classroom and the girls into another and we were told that we were all going to be having a somewhat in depth discussion on the do's and don'ts. Come to find out, while I was in my class, we played games. So when the class was over I asked my male friend what they did and he was mortified because they went into discussions ( for the millionth time) about what men should and should not do on dates, ect. in their class. The girls in the LDS church in my opinion are NOT taught at the extent that the boys are. And I also feel that girls are equally responsible for whether or not a boy decides to "make a move." So what do you think about THAT?? haha, do you think our young men are hounded only to realize that he meets a young LDS girl that lets him push the envelope just a liiiittle farther? None of that has to do with fathers teaching daughters and purity balls. But it goes along witht he question of whether or not the young men are being taught in the same way the young women are. I for one, applaud Christian churches for teaching girls to stay pure, but perhaps they don't need to go to extremes. ( if that is in fact what they are doing.)
  17. Are Scientologists really super psycho with all kinds of crazy practices?? I would ask about each one I've heard, but that would take a long time! Haha, so, if you've heard a myth about Scientology and want to squash it, go for it!
  18. Haha, iCarly is not even the worst. Wiggles and....some other disney show with a bunch of wierdo guys dancing around singing about hats and things. My daughter ( 15 months) will only settle for things with music though so she comes and goes!
  19. haha, the one about worshiping Joseph Smith makes me laugh because my brother got that question a lot on his mission. He'd always explain that no we don't worship him, and sure enough, the day the investigators decide to come to church the whole sacrament is based on Joseph Smith hahaha. Gotta laugh at those.
  20. I agree with you ADoyle! I (personally) believe that everyone is born with certain trials and/or issues they are more prone to than others. However, wickidness never was happiness, and although you may be "born with" a particular trial, I don't feel like that's a reason to give in. I like men, and I like them a lot. I was born that way. But I still chose to live the law of chastity from an early age.
  21. I think it's a pretty cool idea! I live in Salt Lake City and it would be fun for sure. The only thing I can think of is that Provo (BYU) has a bigger population of group daters and they're always looking for a fun date so if you build there, you're sure to get tons of Mormon group daters there.
  22. Maybe you could find something she feels passionate about and ban her from doing it cause you don't like it?
