Here's an intresting tid bit for you all. Do you know that European Jews, especially Eastern European ones are largely (though not predominantly in some areas) descended from the Khazar Khaganate that is now part of the Ukraine and Russia? Around 800 AD the state religion was made Judaism by the monarchy in order to equally displease both the Eastern Roman Empire (Orthodox Christianity) and the Islamic Caliphate, rather than right out anger one of them? They were disperesed by the Prinicipality of Kiev and later by the Mongols. History fact of the day!

Positive Thoughts about the Opposite Sex?
YoungMormonRoyalist replied to OneEternalSonata's topic in General Discussion
In the words of the classy Michael Buble (Dubbed the 'New Frank Sinatra', he covers a lot of the singers songs): And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times It's you, it's you, You make me sing. You're every line, you're every word, you're everything. And I can't believe, uh that I'm your man, And I get to kiss you baby just because I can. Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through, And you know that's what our love can do. YouTube - Michael Bublé - Everything Watch and enjoy! -

Positive Thoughts about the Opposite Sex?
YoungMormonRoyalist replied to OneEternalSonata's topic in General Discussion
I can't speak of all females in general, so I'll speak of my girlfriend, a member from a branch in my stake. I love the way she smiles, a special kindess, goodness, righteousness. I love her chastity, I'm not sorry to say that a truly chaste woman is at least.....eternally more beatiful than a woman of the promiscuous persuasion. To be frank I find a certain sensuality to a girl who says "Heck no, I'm waiting for the temple mister." I love her amazing singing ability I love our mutual ability to be completely open to each other about everything, our sins, temptations, problems as well as our greatest deeds, our love of the gospel, and our wonder of God's Plan (A long amount of time is spent on the phone with her) I love her laugh I love how she continually preassures me to go onto a mission even after I've told her almost every day that it's decided.....I'm going where the Lord will have me go. I love when she gets angry at me, because, let's face it, her angry face is cute. And the list could go on and on... -
I want to go to Church, but I do not believe! Help!

Perhaps you should wonder why these 'people' are so much more morally upright, so faithful, and...so full of light. Why do they seem to shine forth in faith and in deed, what makes them hold fast to their doctrine, their beliefs, and why does it make them good people? -
Who Are the Gadiantons Today?

I know I might be trashed for this....but I think that the way US politics are going this group might soon be formed, or is already formed. A lot of it sounds like Russian politics.... -

Dose anyone else read the A Song of Ice and Fire books? Sorry, the topic reminded me of them.

.............. ................................ .............................................. ........................................................ I'm a guy. What we've got here....is a failure to communicate. For the most part, I understand when the other gender is trying to communicate interest. I just like verbal communication......
-
Because you guys can never be clear. I'll tell you a story about a girl who liked a certain guy. She never told him, perhaps she made some non-verbal hints, perhaps some subtle verbal ones, but no "We should go out some time." The guy, who is currently saving up for a mission and college, is somewhat distracted by work/spiritual preperation, but is still open to dating. It finally took a friend of the girls to say. "She's really interested in you." The guy, somewhat intrigued, asked her out on a couple of dates, and they had a blast. And then my girlfriend moved...to Vegas!!!! The moral: Be clear, as sexy as the non-verbal subtle hint stuff is, sometimes we need you gals to say "Hey, we should go out sometime." That's about as clear as we need to take the hint.

Here's an interesting little tid bit for you all. In the original greek the new testament was written in the word hell used in Matthew 16: 18 is translated from Hades, meaning death. So the actual words should be "And death shall not prevail against it." In fact, in some coptic scripture used by the Ethiopian Christians and other Orthodox religions the words "But it shall be renewed, resurrected as I was" are added to the verse.

Book of Mormon geography, where did it happen?
YoungMormonRoyalist replied to livy111us's topic in General Discussion
I believe it took place in the Ithmus area. Most archaeology indicates it to be the most likely place. As for the scriptures being moved to New York. A GA once talked about the possibility and evidence that either Moroni our the Three Nephites moved it there in preperation for Joseph Smith. The Hill Cumorah in NY isn't the sam in the BofM. The one in NY was named by Oliver Cowdrey. -
I didn't really feel like reading through all this...so I'll just testify of my belief in the divine doctrine of deification, and what it is to me. I believe that the Lord God, our Father in Heaven has promised man all things. As it says in the Bible I believe that I am a son of God and a joint-heir with Christ. I believe that if I am worthy and faithful that I will be perfected through the atonement of Yeshua bar Abba (Joshua son of the Father in Hebrew, Jesus being the Greek form of Joshua). I believe in the God of the New Testament and all scriptures, who promises that we shall inherit all the things he has. The literal Father of our spirits who seeks to help us become like him and his Only Begotten Son, the one who extends his hand and says "Come, your sins are washed clean in the blood of the lamb. Now let me teach you all that I know and give you all that I have." All that he has to give is the perfection of love kindness or charity, that being eternal unconditional love. It involves the perfection of my priesthood, and the power to spread happiness, and righteousness through out all of God's creations. He will teach me other divine attributes if I am worthy, but the attributes of love, righteousness, and charity are his most important I believe. God is nothing without love, and the atonement of his son. All his creations, his powers, his acts and accomplishments are for naught if he had not charity. This is what to become a god is to me. The Christ came down and became like us, so we can go back up and become like him. Though I am not perfect right now I believe that if I am faithful, if I strive to follow God's will and if I endure to the end I will one day be cleansed by the fire of the Holy Spirit and the blood of the Messiah. Even now I, and all faithful and good of any religion are on the path to what I call godhood. As the three servants described in the bible we are to increase our talents, whether they be spiritual, mental, or physical in preperation for that blessed day when we can kneel at the feet of Christ and hear the words "Well done my good and faithful servant." This I testify in God's name.

Can some people give a boost to this discussion

Read it: Simply answer, we don't know the method of creating spiritual children, but a lot of revelation indicates that it isn't in the way we would go about doing it..... -
Calling all youth on the board....I just wanna know how many of us there are. Roberto, 17, Canada. (Turning 18 in a month)

Here, here! Is that how you're supposed to spell that?

Hey don't worry. Paul was described as a beady eyed, small, poxy-faced man .....who when roused by the lord became as a lion. Seriously though, check out the oxy stuff, it works great and helps cover it up as it works. When I had a bad problem it was kind of a confidence booster. Also, take the advice about the eletric razor.
-
So....in other words......your just like us!
-
Hey bro, for shaving you might want to try and eletric razor, something that won't cut up the skin. It happens to most of us, it happened (and still somewhat happens) to me. You can try Oxy-Coverup for Men, it's kind of a concealer-make up that also acts as a medicine for it. I'm sure all the great prophets have had to fight the odd pimple.

I read a talk by a GA once that said that though the native of habitants of the Americas may only have a trickle of the blood of Lehi in them, the covenant the Lord made with the people of Laman is still applicable.
-
They have about 300,000 to 500,000 members approximately if my memory is serving me right. I think you'll be fairly well recieved, perhaps with a bit of awkwardness, but you will most likely be seen as a 'long lost cousin'.

Heinreich Hubener - The youngest man (Age 16) lawfully executed by the Nazi Government for treason and suberversion of the state. He was raised in the church, and active in it. He became a member of the Nazi Party and the Hiter Youth because, let's face it, Hitler helped improve things in Germany after the travesty that was the Treaty of Versaille. However, he protested the outbreak of the war, and began using his position as a minor worker at a government office to secure news of the war and spread it through pamphlets. At his trial he spoke so well, full of conviction that the Nazi Party was an evil organization, and full of eloquence such that the Gestapo Officer who arrested him asked that he be given only 15 years in prison. But the judges, being fearful of such a charismatic, upstanding man, ordered his execution by guillotine. As for other saints in Germany, the major membership was concentrated in Hamburg. They were ordered not to sing songs talking of Israel, and were told, straight to their faces that 'after all is settled we are coming for you'. The only other saint of considerable note in the war was a young sergent (I have the documents and the book with me, but....too tired to look up the name) who accidently called down an artillery strike that somehow managed to obliterate half a Russian division. My uncle, a non-member and architectural engineer, snorted at the idea that the Twin-towers were demolished in a conspiracy type fashion. He said one of the reasons is that the gas tanks ignited by the crashing tanks heated the steel to such a degree that it lost half its structural integrity, something that would give the impression that it was demolished. My father is the prinicpal of an educational institute, my mother was a major whistle-blower in a law/government organization. A guy in my ward was the lead economic advisor to Suriname, South America. Pretty darn educated....but then again, I'm Canadian so the above quote may not apply to me. There was once the story of a certain man. He spent his life preaching the gospel, and paid for it with his life, submitting himself to the laws of the government which ruled his area of the world, and accepting execution by torture. He advocated paying your taxes, and concerning yourself more with the word of God and living it than bringing down the government. This man could have brought down the government of his area, raised his people in rebellion, but instead he preached that the kingdom of God was not of this world, and is of greater importance than all the ones of this world. The first man to guess who this was gets major blessing requests to the Big Guy from me. UFO - I've always had a pet theory, I don't take it to seriously because it doesn't matter if it's right or not, that there are other planets out there with other people, not really aliens, just people. And that because this is the most wicked world (With also the most righteous), they have had more time to advance than us. Perhaps they've visited here, and some decided to stay. Who knows...it's just a theory, that I personally couldn't care either way about, and I don't even know if I believe. But what I do know is that I'm going to serve a full-time mission, get home, get educated, marry in the temple, and have kids. Do you know why? Because I believe God think's that's more important, and more eternal than UFO's. As for the New World Order - Yah it's out there, and I think that we know a lot more about it than one thinks. It's a giant secret combination, or a bunch of little ones, something most saints acknowlegdge exist. It's the Kingdom of Satan set up in opposition to the Kingdom of God....conflict in everything you know? A worldly kingdom set up to oppose the heavenly one. The best way to combat it is by preaching the gospel, not through 'fighting fire with fire', for someone truly converted to the teaches of Heavenly Father will not, in good conscience take part in it. I'm sorry, this is just a tad bit too stereo-typical. We need to see past the bounds of nationalities and realize that we are all human beings, all children of god, and especially among the saints, all brothers and sisters. And yes the world is black and white. The Gospel never talks about shades of grey. Humanity however, is a mix of good and evil, but the two can never mix, they're like oil and water. We are made up of both, but not a mix. God is not of our race, we are a sub-species of his. On a lighter note, does this mean God is played by Harrison Ford? QUOTE=truthwalker;244051]How can you else explain from the psalms that he have thousands of chariots. What are these chariots? And Hezekiel said they had Wheels. Not feet. How can an angel, a physical being have Wheels? thats a mechanical thing. Explain that to me.. please.[ They could be actual chariots...and chariots usually have wheels....they're kinda useless without them. -
There are many health benefits to a weekly fast, and I'm trying to work to at least one every weekend, though it is hard with work. Then there is the 'testimony fast' which is different from the others as it is done not for the health benefits, but the spiritual ones. FYI Next August, a month before my mission I'm planning on taking a short hike up the mountain near my place and spending two or three days in quiet contemplation/prayer/scripture reading while fasting (I'm bringing some water and fruit with me just in case things get dangerous...as well as a cell phone). Then comes EFY, then Trek, then Endowment, then mission. A spiritual bonanza right before my mission.
