Don't worry red eye, to become a Son of Perdition you pretty much have to see Christ himself, have his love, and know that he is the Son of God, and then reject him. You have to become so evil that you would have crucified him yourself. It's as if you've seen the sun and then deny it exists.

Not to be completely anal....but as a history buff I would like to point out that in the very, very early days of the Church the common language was Greek. Latin was adopted by the Western half of the church where Latin was the more common language among the Western Roman Empire, and became the official language after the Orthodox/Catholic schism. In Greek Orthodoxy the language is still very much greek, the same language the New Testament was written in. Cheers!

On a related note, has anyone here read the Great and the Terrible series? Think Left Behind, but with a slightly more non-ficitional tone and from an LDS view. The author is a retired air-force general.

The things that just aren't taught
YoungMormonRoyalist replied to hethathathears's topic in Health and Exercise
Art thou a brother, or a brethern? I salute you. Personally I like mixing two scoops of chocolate milk powder, one of protein, and then add two eggs, peanut butter, milk, and if you want, ice cream. Delicious....and good for you to boot! If you're hitting the gym or exercising in general. -
Groban. Amazingly spritual, good-looking guy, or utter cad You know, one might think they would choose the first, yet it surprises me to see the guys some girls go out with.... But seriously, Andre the Giant, or the Anigo Montaya?

Hey! By the way, as of my eighteenth birthday last sunday I got a letter in the mail encouraging me to register! As of right now the Canadian government is in election time. We have a parlimintarian government which is substantially different from the American one. Basically, instead of voting for a leader, we vote for a representative of our area. More often then not that representative will be a member of a party and if enough representatives, or MPs (Members of Parliament) form a government the leader of their party will become Prime Minister, the de facto head of the government. Though the PM himself is below the official head of the state, Queen Elizabeth (via her proxy, the Govener-General), he generally makes all the propositions for legislation. For the past few years we've had a couple minority governments. This never happens in the States as the government there is always formed from the two main parties, Dems and Reps. In Canada we have several main parties, so the party with the most forms the government, but may not have a majority, so they have to secure the agreement of the other parties before they pass laws, here are a few of them: The Conservatives - Our right wing party, currently the greaters holder of seats in Parliament, though not in the majority. Their leader is Stephen Harper. The Liberals - They are right smack in the middle, neither right nor left really. They've held power for most of the past 40 years, with periods where the government was formed by the Conversatives/Reform party (The two combined into one party). They are lead by Stephane Dion. (The first two are the parties that usually form the government, the next few, though never leaders, have had a large number of seats and have been the wheels and cogs in great Canadian changes, such as Universal Health Care) The NDP, or New Democratic Party - These guys are the left of center guys. Though I wouldn't label them full blown socialists they are often in favour of some quasi-liberalsocialistic ideas. The party used to be a provincial one, called the Canadian Commonwealth Federation, started by a pastor during the great depression. They have influenced the legalization of unions, and were the first to propose Universal health care, an idea so popular that the Liberals during WWII started it first because the CCF threatened to gain more votes. They are lead by Jack Layton. The Green Party - These guys came out of no where, literally. No mention of them being in the race on a significant level during the past year. Then a MP crossed the floor and declared himself Green, which gave them a say in government. They are environmentalists, with conservative economic tendencies. I forget the girls name who's leading them....sad to say. Finally, there's the Bloc Quebecois. They are a sepratist party by definition, looking to seperate Quebec from 'British Canada' and form their own francophone republic. However, in the past few years they have mellowed, merely seeking government recognition of Quebec's unique culture, language and heritage. They partially influenced Canada's transformation to an officially bilingual nation. At the moment I have no idea who I want to vote for.

Doesn't Acts say that he tripped and fell on a rock that split his guts open? I dunno, perhaps he hung himself, the rope broke and then said gut spilling happened.

Well technically if you melt a spade down you can make it into something else? I believe the Lord was talking about spades or something concerning the second coming? "And their swords shall be beaten into spades?" I know it's something to do with spades....

1 Nephi 3: 7 Do what the Spirit is telling you. If you're recieving revelation that tells you that perhaps right now is not the best time to be married in the temple. If it's true, which you say it is, and I believe you are right, then Heavenly Father will prepare the way for the right path. In another post I said that a temple marriage isn't necessarily a celestial one. The first is immediate, and opens a doorway of possibilities. The second is a continuing process, it is the one that truly binds one spouse to another? My sugesstion? While waiting for the temple marriage you can start working on the celestial one right away. I hope this advice has been useful. I'm not sure if it is considering the fact that I only recently turned 18 and am as of this moment, not married.

The Trinity Questions – For Traditional Christians
YoungMormonRoyalist replied to AnthonyB's topic in Christian Beliefs Board
May I be the first to propose that while we certainly disagree with most of Trinitarianism, that there is much more in common than we think? The latter-day Saints believe in one God, or Godhead. Personally I think the words can be used interchangebly. Father in Heaven is our God, Jesus Christ is our God, and (though it is not said as much) the Holy Spirit is our God. They are distinct in body, and personage, and yet they are one in unity and form the Godhead, and they are our God. (This is making sense to me, but then again it's quite late and when I get somewhat tired concepts that are for the most part complicated become quite simple to my mind (May I also point out that this post will most likely seem like babel to me in the morning)) -
First things first....diets are for the most part poop....big cow paddies. This is the diet I follow: Big breakfest: This is what I had for the past two days: English muffin with peanut butter, apples, and bacon in between....absolutely delicious, healthier than one might think, and may I mention delicious? It's a big, nutritious energy booster. I also had yogurt, cus I'm a sucker for the stuff. Second tip: Just get rid of snack food. After imploring my mom to stop buying bad food when she finally did I felt a sense of loss. I actually wandered the kitchen, trying to find 'the good stuff'. And yet....I couldn't get it. My favourite snack right now is sharp apples with sharp cheese. Don't look so much for sweetness or breadiness (as I like to call it). Roll the food around on your tounge, taste not just one item, but all of the working together! It's just like the Godhead, distinct in personage, but working together for something marvelous. Third tip: Review your goals....constantly...and view why you want to accomplish them. My goal right now: Get in incredible shape (Sub goal is get a wicked six pack and good torso) I had to find a good reason for the first goal, something better than "I want to look good" or "I want to look healthier". The reason I have found that works best for me is, "So that I can accomplish God's will". I have internalized this reason time and time again. I have come to believe that God needs someone strong not only spiritually, but mentally and physically. Who knows when he might require one of these attributes? If I can provide him with a body capable of taking on the most difficult of tasks I am in a much better position to serve him. The other reason is: I want to look good for the girlfriend. Final tip: Make a plan in you journal, keep a nutrition and exercise journal. You're goal should not be to gain or lose weight, but to become fit...period. I currently weigh more than I did back in my 'flabby period', but it has become for the most part lean, healthy muscle. If you are exercising don't just stick to cardio or weightlifting, do both in conjunction. Weight lifting helps muscles use up fat, the more you have the more fat you lose when doing cardio.

May I point out that either way her eternal salvation is in jeprody. Members often intertwine temple marriage and celestial marriage as one in the same. They are not. One might have a temple marriage but not a celestial one. The first is made in the temple, the other is built up and maintained throughout life and into the eternities. A temple marriage is not good enough for our Heavenly Father, he needs spouses to be so intertwined, so loving, and caring for one another that nothing could break them.

What God reveals to one people he can and does reveal to another. Was Paul an inspired prophet of God? Yes, on that we can all agree. His words were inspired of our Heavenly Father? If these words were so sacred and of good report does it not stand to reason that he would tell them to another of his prophets in another land? I asked a friend once, who's father was a pastor, has your father ever preached the same sermon to different people?

Works are NOT required for Salvation
YoungMormonRoyalist replied to Jenamarie's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Perhaps the reason that we have works is not so that we gain some reward, but maintain our fait, through which we attain grace. You are married no? Do you have to work at a marriage to maintain it? Do you have to tell your wife that you love her, that you care for her? Do you take her out on the occaisional date? Do special things for her? The marriage is marriage, period, but without constant work it will degrade and fall. The same can be said for grace and works. Grace and Works are necessary because they are inseperable. Grace is attained by faith, and faith must be constantly nutured by doing the things Christ commanded of us, in other words, works. Works must be done with an eye to Grace, because without direction good deeds are meaningless. So then the question is? Our works necessary for salvation? In a certain way yes. Grace is the only thing necessary for salvation, but works help us maintain our faith. -

Prophet no....Inspired...yes? Inspired men are placed among all peoples, all nations, all tounges, and all places. As the Law of Moses was a preperatory gospel to the ancient Israelits I believe that it is possible that most world religions are in their own unique ways preperatory gospels. They all teach of Good and Evil and the struggle between them, and generally try to mitigate suffering. I think that perhaps God placed them there so that the basic tenents of the Gospel, that of choosing between good and evil, would be in place when the full Gospel was brought to them.

Works are NOT required for Salvation
YoungMormonRoyalist replied to Jenamarie's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
As I see it, conversion is an ongoing, almost eternal process. Conversion does not end at faith, baptism or any of the other ordinances. I can testify that though I was baptized till the age of eight I was not truly converted till later. How does this connect to works? Easy. One might say that works are a part of conversion. In John 14: 15 the Holy One of Israel says simply "If ye love me keep my commandments." To truly love the saviour, a requirement for grace, one must further God's work. We need to clarify that we are carrying out not our own works, but Christ's works. Faith and works are synonymous, one, and insepperable. As I see it, Grace and works are one. The atonement of the Only Begotten is put forth and simulated in every ordinance and deed done by the saints. Baptism is in simultude of the death and subsequent resurrection of the Saviour. The temple ordinances and covenants are a way of reafirming and strengthening our faith in God and his Son, thereby attaining grace. Grace and (true, not faithless works) works are one in the same. To quote the eternal Frank Sinatra "You can't have one without the other". -
We can become gods?

May I ask you a question? Why differentiate between God and god? Why not say, "There are no gods formed after me rather than Gods?"- 212 replies
