  1. Don't take this wrong, I'm just being blunt: you haven't taught him to respect you. He needs to come to an appreciation that what you say is LAW in your home. No second guessing, no running to the other parent. At 7 years old, that might be a hard principle to establish, but I'd strongly encourage you to try. Give him a choice. Explain that every time he asks, there's a penalty (a chore, a timeout, a longer delay until he gets a movie). And stick to that penalty. And don't forget the power of distraction. If you HAVE to, just tell him the video player broke. I had to do that to cold-turkey my kids off that terrible mistake the world calls Xbox.
  2. Well, we need to get to the bottom of this, as there's no doubt in my mind whatsoever that our exaltation depends on this data.
  3. I started the audiobooks, and they're loaded with gratuitous sex. It reached a point in the book where there was no real plot. Just sex. I gave up waiting for it to get back on track and moved to the next book. Same thing... Subpar writing from a subpar mind.
  4. I'm a SUCKER for vampire books myself, but this didn't pass muster. I mean, c'mon! Vampires can't go in the sun because they glisten? Ugh, I threw up a little in my mouth just typing that! And, as a side note, do NOT read the Sookie Stackhouse series. They're vile.
  5. Okay, it's one thing to READ them. Curiosity and all that... But it's another thing ENTIRELY to enjoy them. Ugh. Why would you make such a thoughtless and hateful suggestion? Possibly one of the worst pieces of cinema of all time. And don't let HOST fool you, either. It's the same story, but with different names... ............................................................ And one final note: are there really that many of you so insecure in your marriages that you'd be afraid to tell your spouse about a dream? Wow. How can you live with someone you can't trust? I don't mean to be... well, "mean" - I just can't fathom it.
  6. Dude needs to be shipped to Antarctica.
  7. Moksha: I've put your terrific photo to good use. Just refresh your browser if you don't see it yet.
  8. Fair enough. A rather tepid rebuttle, I admit. I don't disagree that Bush was a globalist. He wasn't remotely conservative, that's for sure. But Obama has taken the wheel from Bush and put the proverbial pedal to the metal. Okay, now here I have to disagree. Not in more peril? While we can debate the legality of the War in Iraq, there's no debating that Bush would put a boot in anyone's rear who threatened the US. Obama, on the other hand, wants to disarm nukes even as others are arming. He wants to shut down the shield defense in Europe so as not to offend Russia. He apologizes to the world for our existence. He even downplayed the fact that we, the US won WWII. He is weak, he exudes weakness, and he's inviting catastrophe (from both within and without). Yes, the last administration was terrible. But Obama makes them look like newborn kittens against his own sabertoothed tiger. And by "few", I assume you mean "every move he's made"??? Do I need to quote scripture at you? Do I need to remind you why the Jaredite and Nephite civilizations went the way of the Dodo? Do I need to cut and paste the dire warnings that our capacity to thrive is based on our righteousness? That the moment the majority choose evil over good, we're hosed? I'm working folk. And any nation that can dwell on the death of a musical savant pedophile (and please don't give me the "he was acquitted" speech - so was OJ) for 2 weeks while ignoring the Cap n Trade bill is mindless.
  9. Okay, here's a BIG one I hear all the time: "I could care less." EXACTLY! Which makes such an inane comment irrelevant!! It's "I couldn't care less", you people!!!!!
  10. Hmmm, and if polygamy was really from God, we wouldn't He wouldn't have retracted the law, right? It was an "inspired" document. One that made specific concessions in order to unite the colonies. Sure, Christ could have come down and told them all what to do... but that's more Lucifer's methods. And you shouldn't act so surprised about the uproar. Eventually it comes down to one piddly little straw breaking that camel's back. Just one straw. Better to be grateful at the realization that at least some of the mindless proletariat's eyes are finally opening. Let's just HOPE it's not too little too late.
  11. Right on, SixPack. Thanks for the comments. You know, when we as members of the Church have been taught that the Constitution and Declaration of Independence came about as part of His will, by men that He inspired... how can any Latter Day Saint believe that the road we've been on for years now (this all started well before Obama - he's just not even bothering with the softsell his predecessors used) is acceptable to God? If the Constitution came from God, then how can anyone be okay with how far away we've walked from it? I currently identify with the Constitution Party. It all comes back to their simple logic: you government types want to do something? Then show me where that's allowed in the Constitution. Oh, it's not there? Well good thing the Founding Fathers developed a method to make improvements! If what you want to do is so universally important, then you shouldn't have ANY problems passing an amendment. Aaaarrrrggggh. I'll stop. For now. If anyone is still reading at the bottom of this post (haha), I'd strongly encourage you to read Mark Levin's "Liberty & Tyranny". I haven't been through Beck's book yet, but I hear great things about it, too. As well, Ron Paul's Conservative Manifesto is a great thought-provoker...
  12. I attended the Orem Tea Party. There were a few hundred of us there. There were 22 different Tea Parties across Utah alone. Attorney General Mark Shurtleff was there, as was a Utah Congressman, and a few others. Heck, even one of the Osmonds showed up to sing a song (and sell T-Shirts that read "Proud Owner of General Motors"). Miss Utah (of 2007???) was a doll, too. I thought it was good. While not all believe things are as dire as they appear to me, I am convinced that it's time for the Elders of the Church to start their rescue efforts of the Constitution - as prophesied. I hear sooooo many people complain about our current Legislative and Executive Branches, but so few are doing anything beyond whining about it... which is sad. Complacency and chosen-ignorance are our greatest crutches. We CAN make a difference if we can begin to move en masse.
  13. I bet he had no idea that day that he'd come to a sticky ending. Death by fondue.
  14. Awesome mental picture! I actually wear one of my wife's bras packed full of cedar chips.
  15. If there's already a thread on this, I apologize (link to it on this thread for me). Who attended a Tea Party on the 4th?
  16. Well, at least with THESE models, there are roots in the head... which appears to be more than the real live model possesses...
  17. Being on an LDS forum, the first word that came to mind was "moisture". Why can't we thank God for the rain? Or for the snow? Why does every publicly offered prayer express gratitude for "moisture"??? How about "hope" and "change" ??? They're just killing me these days. At this point I'm just hoping for a quick change...
  18. You just haven't been in the public education system for a while. Hmmm... I find it FAAAAAAAAAR more annoying that the homosexuals adopted a word that used to mean HAPPY as the moniker for their sexual orientation. And it's doubly ironic that they picked a word meaning "happy", considering the suicide rate of homeosexuals. But don't mind me. I use the word "gay" like it's going out of style... which is also rather amusing, because its modern interpretation has become quite trendy as of late...
  19. Hang in there, man. 9/11 did the same thing to me. Only I was married and already had 2 kids at the time. Had to move 1,000 miles to live in my in-laws' basement for a while (ugh - and they STILL charged me rent) and work 2 full-time jobs to pay off all my debts and keep food on the table. Ironically, that period of my life became a spiritual high point for me. I did my time, turned to the Lord out of desperation, grew from the experience, and things eventually picked back up for me. So my advice would simply be: turn to the Lord. Hope for the best but expect the worst. Joseph and many of the early Saints never had but a few moments of peace. That may not make you feel any better, but misery loves company, right? I'll send a shout-out to the Big Man Upstairs for you.
  20. If the New Testament alone could prove the Truth, we wouldn't need the others.
  21. As someone who issues handouts frequently, I'd just like to say that I'm not offended when they end up in the trash. I provide them for the class to help them focus, to give them something to talk about with their family over dinner, etc... but realize that any given handout might only strike a chord in one person a week - and that's okay by me.
  22. Perhaps it was another prophet... or maybe I have the book wrong... Oh well, can't remember my source materials on this one...
  23. Are you living your life in accordance with the rules and admonitions of the church? Often there is a correlation between doubt and sin.
