These are good examples of stupid laws but the one going around facebook right now takes the cake. 31 states allow rapists visitation and custody rights to a child born of rape. Perhaps this is more about laws being too vague. The laws have not been rewritten in those 31 states to exclude rapists from having parental rights over a child of rape.

Bini, not disagreeing but he already did that. And she spent the day cleaning up. Isnt that what he wanted? -
In many places you can not even change the oil in your car let alone repair it. Did you hear about the woman who was fined for having a nice green garden in her front yard? there was a huge stink about it for months till the city finally semi recanted. it might have been nice to have just said something along the line of you have been working so hard today! How about if we go out to dinner or call in a pizza and enjoy the evening. Then do that and make it a warm happy evening with no talk about what a good girl she was. -

Joseph Smith and the carthage mob
annewandering replied to annewandering's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Its hard to understand people like that. At least the man admits Joseph Smith was murdered. -
That is so true, Apple. My father found out his dad was married before and he had a half sister, when he was 35. Not a happy thing to find out at that age.

I was reading in the comments of a news story concerning the church. One of them said Joseph was a murderer because he killed 2 men in the mob, after the mob shot and killed Hyrum. I have never heard this before so looked it up on the web. He did fire 6 shots and may have hit two people although they were not killed. I was astounded that he was called a murderer for defending himself and his friends from a mob intent on killing them all. Antimormons at work, I know, but that is quite the delusion. Has anyone else heard this story before?

It doesnt sound right to me, Bini. Some big pieces are missing. Did your biological mom survive the typhoon? You must know that bits and pieces of rumor are going to go for the most salacious explanation. If it was a small town then its so much easier to say your biological mother was from 'out of town'. That way it has nothing to do with them. Remember in the Philippians there is no divorce so it would be not uncommon for babies to be born from an adultery. It does not mean they were not loved and wanted. If that were the situation it had to be very complicated. IF it were the situation. Your parents made a mistake not telling you at a younger age. Even if they were rumors you should have known so you would be prepared, still they were doing what they thought was best, considering there was nothing but rumors. ie: gossip. Since you want to pursue this to know if there are more rumors and why they didnt tell you, you need to be open with them. I would talk to your father and then to people who were there when you were found if you want to get a better idea of whether the gossip is true. Bring it into the open which is where it should have been all along. Whispered gossip is more poisonous than truth.

Brigham Young had a temper and was opinionated. I can see why Emma and he did not get along. He was a prophet but he was not the kind of gentle man that Emma would have liked to have around her. Joseph and Brigham were like night and day, personality wise. While I would not wish for her to have married a nonmember, all things considered it was not an unreasonable choice. She had enough of tribulation and she was already sealed to Joseph. Did she have children by her second husband? Edited to add information. Emma married a man named Lewis C. Bidamon. He was a nonmormon but he had helped control the mob against the saints. He was in law enforcement after their marriage. I imagine Emma felt safe with him. Interestingly he was a philanderer. He was married several times, having children both in and out of marriage. He had a child outside of his marriage with Emma. Oddly, he never had any children with Emma at all despite the fact that they both had proven fertile with others. I did not know Emma was pregnant at the time Joseph died. Another reason not to go west. Yes women did but it seems like a poor idea if avoidable.

Evacuate and call the police. It troubles me that you, and whoever originally posted the question, use the term Occupy. The term you mean is invade. Occupy implies a relationship to the occupy movement when you are referring to vandals. On the other hand if you do mean protesters OUTSIDE the premises then just ignore them. They have a right to be there, normally.

I suppose some may be like that. Mine tend to be more puzzles to work out. Many years ago I had terrible nightmares every night for a year. A few years ago I realized that they were about betrayal. It was during the time I was being molested by a family 'friend'. Other times I am doing something wrong without realizing it. My dreams will show me what I am doing. Dreams can serve a lot of different things depending on our needs.

I saw something on facebook that made me think about Emma Smith today. It was a picture of some tombstones of the Smith family. So I was thinking. Emma has a lot of trials and lost all her family but her one son. She had been raised to privilege and now had little but her memories. How hard it must have been to even think about leaving her only living son and the burial places of her beloved husband and babies. I cant help but think it was a factor in her deciding to not go to the west.

Help my wife is a mess!

OP, I dont know about your wife but if my husband said or implied by words or actions that I was a mess because of my housecleaning, it would be the LAST time I ever cleaned a thing in my house till he died. At that time I would get a scoop shovel and put everything but mine in a burning pile. Now if he was further insulting I would get out the scoop shovel, right then, and put everything in a burning pile and burn it. And dare him to say a word. After all the house is clean then. Right? Your attitude has a lot to do with how your wife reacts. No matter how nice she is. Might pay to look at yourself before looking at her. Then sit down with her and talk, not preach, about what you and she can do about it. Today, in my house, we are doing something different. He usually does dishes and I usually mow. I detest dishes and he doesnt like to mow. I love mowing. Anyway it has been so hot lately that neither of us have been doing our chores anywhere near properly. So today I am doing his job and he is doing mine. I am doing his dishes because I know he is aggravated about them and he is doing the lawn because he is an angel. :) Maybe theres a lesson in there. Dont know what it is but there must be. lol. -
I would suspect everyone has had dreams like that. My personal opinion is they mostly come from our fears. Not sure why God would interfere with a good dream. Satan, being the mean person he is might just to be annoying. Mostly they are from our own minds and fears.

Help my wife is a mess!

My much older cousin married this happy go lucky woman. She was always overdoing everything. If she went to pick asparagus she picked ten bags full. If she popped popcorn she popped a dozen bags. she had two children. Her oldest, about my age, cleaned and cooked from babyhood because her mom didnt. Their house was awful. I 'babysat' for them when I was a teenager. Stayed there weeks at a time when she worked harvest jobs. she had such a good heart but she did not see the dirt, garbage, rotten food and she didnt smell it. Long after I grew up and left the area she had a brain tumor. It was successfully removed. All was good. We moved back to the area. It was going to be an early frost so she called and asked if we wanted tomatoes. Of course we did! So we went over to pick them before night and frost. She invited us in. Oh My Gosh! The house was spotless! Absolutely spotless. I was speechless! The only thing I can think is that she had had the brain tumor for a long long time not growing. When they took it out she went to normal. It was like night and day. She was still a warm happy person. Just not quite as over doing. and a Whole lot better housekeeper. So what is my point? Compulsive messiness has a reason. Could be physical or it could be mental. Take the time to figure it out and then, compassionately, find a solution. -
Talk to your bishop about the blessing. He may try to speed up you getting a home teacher. He might be busy but he is the bishop and he is there for you when you need him.

Advice in choosing good tv shows and movies
annewandering replied to nagatopain17's topic in Youth and Seminary
Person of Interest is good. I dont really think it has anything inappropriate in it. Pretty cool huh! -
Given a choice why would you pick something with wine or bourbon or rum or whatever in it? Flavorings cant be made without the distilling liquid which is alcohol, that I know of, but good mustard can be. Even brown if you look for it.

lol I have never considered reviewing any I read. Does it slow you down?

I dont know what is right or wrong but I would have a hard time not talking to at least my own bishop. Perhaps he could counsel you on what to do?

That book does sound interesting. Do you think this is a bit like Anne Frank? I would be very interested in a review when you finish it. :)
