i think it can surprise us how much our children already know and by what age. Maybe asking them questions to find out what they already know will tell you how to proceed.

wanting to convert...can't get past some things...
jameslentz replied to danceinthedark's topic in General Discussion
the number one thing here is to desire this for yourself...not for your husband and not just for your family's sake. That is noble to want that but the truth is that if you convert for the wrong reason it won't "stick", and could lead to problems down the road. That being said there have been many who have come looking with the exact same concerns that you have. I would offer this suggestion....try to gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon. Read, ponder and pray asking HF if it is true. Follow what Moroni exhorts in Moroni 10:3-5. A testimony of the Book of Mormon and the witness of it's truth given by the Holy Ghost is what is important. No one can give that to you except for the Holy Ghost....and if you ask in faith you will receive an answer. The reason that is important is that if you know the Book of Mormon to be true...then it naturally will fall in place that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God since he translated it and was the tool used to bring it to the world. You can also follow the same process in gaining a testimony of him as a prophet that you follow for the Book of Mormon. Prayers and peace be with you and your journey. -

Jesus taught (Matt 5:28) 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart Alma 12:14 says: 14 For our words will condemn us, yea, all our works will condemn us; we shall not be found spotless; and our thoughts will also condemn us; and in this awful state we shall not dare to look up to our God; and we would fain be glad if we could command the rocks and the mountains to fall upon us to chide us from his presence. i remember reading once that brigham young said when asked how he lived such a good life he said that when the thought of the sin entered his mind he became so busy repenting for the thought he didn't have time to commit the sin. I do believe that the hardest part of ourselves to gain control over is our thoughts, i know i struggle with it but each day is a new opportunity to have a clean mind and come closer to HF in thought, word and deed.

we have a sister in our ward that provides homemade bread for our sacrament. It is quite substantial and has a sweetness to it....i always thank her for the sacrament "cake"....i agree with all the above and like to think of it this way....if the emblems symbolize and help us renew our baptismal covenants, would anyone not get baptized because they were fasting? maybe it's not the same, but i truly believe that in everything we do it matters where your heart is...or like said above it's about your intent.

I have posted 100 times (well, now 101) on the forums and attained the rank of "Senior Member". I have noticed that other than becoming a Moderator (ick) there is nothing else to strive for....so i ask, is there a point? (btw, tongue firmly in cheek)
