i've had trinitarians explain it as "God is all powerful and can do anything He wants and I'm not going to understand exactly how it is possible just that it is"....so i usually just say ok and move on because there is no discussion after that because no matter what is said or what is read it is "God can do anything".

i think you should fast and pray. i will also tell you how i view making decisions with Heavenly Father. you need to reason it out completely, look at all the sides, take as much into consideration, do as much investigation as possible...then make your decision. once you have made your decision, THEN take it to Heavenly Father and tell Him you have made a prayerful decision and ask for His confirmation of your decision. I find that works really well, plus Heavenly Father likes to help but He likes to see us do as much as possible. good luck

Is there a right way and a wrong way to bare a testimony?

just as faith comes after the trial i believe that testimony growth comes after the baring of it. -
The Atonement: How Many Times
jameslentz replied to FlaviusHambonius's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
he has a book called The Continuous Atonement that I believe just came out this year. I am grateful to you for posting this link...I am edified and lifted having watched it and I feel so grateful for having been able to watch this tonight. I have been feeling especially weak this day and very alone in my life and ... I want to say that I just had one of the most spiritual moments of my life. While writing the lines above I was overcome by the Spirit, testifying to my soul that I am not alone, that I am valued by HF and JC. I spent 15 minutes or so in prayer, sobbing to my Father in Heaven. I don't really know how to give it justice through explanation, so I leave this testimony that HF knows each of us, that we are worth it to Him, that JC is the Savior and Redeemer of God's children. I can testify that this church has the restored fulness of the gospel and that no matter our circumstance we are all under the protection and mercy of God. May His peace always abide with you. -
Every person in this gospel struggles. Some have struggles that show on the outside and some keep it inside very well but we all struggle. It is our most important mission in this life to grow through our experience to gain an understanding of the attributes of HF and JC that we are trying to live to be perfected. One thing to remember is that we are not expected to be perfect here. We must strive to live the commandments, we must use the atonement every day, we must work hard and we all will still fail from time to time. But everytime that we fail and we sin, or we fail and have doubt, or we fail and "lose" some part of our faith our loving and ever patient HF is waiting to see how we react to this new situation. To see if we are going to fight to overcome, to regain, or to endure. I recently regained a great portion of my testimony. I have been away from the church for 15 years. A part of my testimony was always there in my heart, but the culture and even a few of the doctrines didn't sit right with me and I felt that the gospel had in some way been invalidated. Life has a way of bringing you to a decision. My decision came this year and now I feel that I can testify that this gospel is true and that HF and JC love you very much. They understand your struggle, Jesus went to the heights and depths of all feeling in this life so that He would have a perfect understanding of what each of us will go through. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was the prophet of the restoration and that Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet of God today. This knowledge and testimony makes it so that no matter what hardship is there or what doctrine I may struggle with understanding, it is all true and someday it will all make perfect sense. Here are a couple of talks that have done me a world of good lately and when I was reading some of your comments I thought they might be able to help you too. Remember How You Felt You Know Enough

Here is a talk directed more at the youth but really applies to anyone and I certainly have found it helpful: Remember How You Felt - Elder Jeffrey R. Holland We are all praying for you and pulling for you because you are our brother and we love you, just as our Father in Heaven loves you. I also agree with the others above that as you become more serious in your dedication to following the gospel, Lucifer will try with all of his might to persuade you against it. All of these trials should serve as signs that what you are doing is what God would want you to do. I believe that once the Spirit testifies to us that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God then shortly thereafter the adversary begins his attack to change our minds. If you have received that witness, grasp it with all your might and do not let go, trust in the Lord, have Hope in what is to come and endure all things. From Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin - "Come what may and love it".

you are strong enough....and if you're not, lean on the Lord and He will carry you through this. He loves you and He is proud of you just like we all are proud of you for taking these very difficult steps. All of us on here are behind you and we will do anything to help you through this. Our prayers are with you.

i think that the still small voice is different for each person...because that is what I believe this is....I also think that deja vu is the spirit as well, maybe not some grand vision or prompting but definitely a way of saying...we are here and you know it.
