  1. Welcome! There are a lot of good folks here, so don't be shy about your questions.
  2. LOL!!! Someone is trying to stir the puddin'!
  3. Rachelle, I am currently in a separation where I too want to do whatever I can to save my marriage. I went through a lot for the first few weeks, trying desperately to get my wife to come back and see the tragedy that she had created. But I started searching for answers and did one thing that seems to have brought the quickest change and we are now sort of talking about reconciliation....well, we have a long way to go but this is what I did that took it from me begging her to come back to her wanting to talk more.....I just wrote her a note and told her that I agreed that we needed to divorce...I left that note at her house when I picked up my sons and she called me the next day. The note was very short and in it I apologized for some of the things I had done and then told her that I agreed with her decision. Might be something you want to try, there are a few more specifics to the note that I will share with you if you would like.....all I know is that if there is anything in your husband that wants to save your marriage this note should help bring it to the surface. The good thing about living in NC is there is a one year separation that is mandatory before divorce so this helped in my situation. My heart does go out to you because I know some of the hurt you are feeling and it is not easy to deal with but it does get marginally better each day. Take care.
  4. Let me also add my congrats to you spiritseeker for following Christ's example into the waters of baptism. Your Heavenly Father is very proud of you for your decision, and looks forward to being in your life for all time. Good counsel has been given to you to at least write down your feelings of the day now while they are still fresh and review them from time to time to remind yourself of this very special day. Congrats also to marshac....receiving the Aaronic Priesthood is in itself a special honor. This is truly what sets our church apart from every other church is the Priesthood authority to act in God's name. Always strive to remain worthy to use and receive the blessings of this honor.
  5. welcome to a fellow North Carolinian!! Let us know if there is anything we can do for you. Hope you find this as helpful as the rest of us.
  6. In the movie Finding Faith in Christ they show that scene and use that version as the script...but I just love the way Christ is portrayed in that video and also in the Testaments....
  7. as a Christian, whether LDS or not, it is our direction from Jesus Christ to keep the commandments...repentance and the Atonement of the Savior that makes repentance possible gives us a way to cleanse ourselves after our weakness creates a situation that we sin again. The continuous cycle of repentance, striving to keep the commandments and sometimes failure to do so resulting in sin is why the Atonement is so powerful and impressive. The Atonement is meant for our use as often and as liberally as necessary during this life to continue to strive for perfection. So asking any Christian if they keep the commandments is like asking a mother if they keep their children safe....they both try everyday.
  8. Glad you're here!!
  9. just from what I see of the prophet and the apostles during their talks at General Conference and elsewhere, there are times when they start talking about Jesus Christ that it sounds very much like someone that has seen and perhaps talked to the Savior....
  10. I think most of this could be solved by enacting one law....Term Limits in Congress....limit the terms allowed to be served and you immediately get rid of the career politician and get new blood and new ideas every so often on both sides of the aisle....if it's good enough for the office of the President then it should be good enough for the rest....and while we are at it limit all elected public officials....that would make life a lot more interesting dont ya' think
  11. had it been available I definitely would have hit the laugh button!! As to the number 24, I've always felt anytime i see or hear it that it just "feels" right...that might just be my own personal OCD though. Very interesting thoughts...
  12. I think that it is really a matter of semantics in most of these cases and in separate accounts....I think I saw one time there are 4 accounts of the First Vision that were written or dictated by Joseph Smith and each was a little different, but that would make sense seeing as how he is human and when you tell or relate a story especially at different times then there will be small variances. This is also why often the police will interview the victim of a crime a couple times because on each interview they might remember something new. Just my 2 cents.
  13. Glad you're here!!

    Regrets

Hi Dee, My heart goes out to you and I hope that you can find a way, find the courage to act on what you and your ex-husband are talking about. I would advise you to ask in prayer that it might be confirmed to you and your ex-husband that it is the right course to follow. I believe that will make it easier for you. I believe that Heavenly Father loves families. Families are the core unit in the organization of this existence. With the recognition that you have of mistakes and effort needed you are well on your way to healing your family. I wish you well dear sister.
  15. welcome to the site....i am sorry for the situation that you find yourself in. While there was no physical infidelity sometimes emotional cheating is worse. It is good that you sought out and found this site because there is definitely great support here. It would be wrong of me to offer any advice other than to pour yourself into the scriptures with fasting and prayer to find your answer, you already say that you know through prayer you need to stay in the marriage, so maybe there is something in this trial for you to learn. I am currently separated from my wife and I was completely devastated when she left. One thing that I found that helped me tremedously was a book called "The Peacegiver"....if you've never read it I would suggest it....maybe it will help you like it did me. I feel for you and your situation and pray for you on your journey.

    Hello

welcome to the site I hope that the answers you can receive here will help you find your way home. I would just like to add my personal thought to your first question about Jesus marrying. There is no written record of that being a fact as mentioned my hemidakota....what I have come to believe is that since we have a Heavenly Father and we are created in his image with the opportunity to become like Him then it only makes sense to me that we also have a Heavenly Mother. It also seems logical to me that Jesus was in fact married but it was not written about and here is why I believe there is no record of either of these women.....as often as both Heavenly Father and Jesus' names get taken in vain and the pain that they feel for that and how there are those that revile against the mention of there names, Heavenly Father would not allow the same to happen to his beloved eternal companion, nor would Jesus. So I believe that love for their mates has kept that from us but I believe that because of what I stated above that they do exist. But that is definitely something that will have to wait until returning to our Father before we find out. I hope that you search in earnest for the answer to these questions, use fasting and prayer to help you to receive your answer, and then trust that answer. You have been promised the Holy Ghost to show you truth, use it.
  17. once you get to where you have some endurance in you cardio system you might try something I found some time ago...it is called HIIT, stands for High Intensity Interval Training. Basic concept is that you have a short period of intense cardio followed by a period twice as long of steady state cardio. Example: 1 min warmup at steady jog 30 second all out sprint 1 min jog 30 second sprint 1 min jog etc Scientific findings have shown that this type of cardio triggers fat burning quicker and longer than steady state cardio. I have been using this since last year, along with diet and some weight training, but this is the only type of cardio I do. Since March 08 I have lost 127 lbs....of course it is not all because of this but I feel like it has helped. Just a thought....
  18. first welcome to the site....second, we all come to the gospel with different circumstances and life experiences. I would say the important thing here is to make sure you are investigating because of your own need for truth and the gospel and not because you think it is the only way she will marry you. You both deserve for this decision to be based on your personal salvation. So just ask yourself, "If I convert and she stops dating me, would I continue to be active?" If you can honestly answer yes and you have faith in Jesus Christ then your first step would be to take the discussions with the missionaries, and start going to church. The first step in any life changing event is usually the hardest but is also the most rewarding. Good luck and keep coming here for advice, there are a lot of really great people on this site.
  19. Interesting perspective...thanks. I haven't been out of the country yet, thought I would on my mission, but no...so it is good to hear from people that have....so thanks.
  20. Just remember that everyone here cares for you even though we may have never met...you can come to any of us at anytime for help or just to talk....your Heavenly Father loves you and wants you to be happy and to return to Him, these are the first steps and He is with you. I pray for the Spirit to be with you in this journey.
  21. Glad to have you here!! Everyone is very friendly and helpful so don't be afraid to ask questions or post!!
  22. it's actually TPS and it requires a cover sheet....LOL! sorry, couldn't help myself.
  23. Here are a couple of examples, one from the preaching of Jesus and the other from Mormon....I found many other examples but I think this should suffice....hope this helps John 16: 23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Mormon 9: 21 Behold, I say unto you that whoso believeth in Christ, doubting nothing, whatsoever he shall ask the Father in the name of Christ it shall be granted him; and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth.
  24. being able to feel worthy is a very hard thing to accomplish for me because i am so good at beating myself up about all the little things. A friend of mine that i just reconnected with made a good observation when he said that often we are harder on ourselves than even God is. I have only read part of this book but I plan on finishing it...I think it could probably help in your situation to understand that our Heavenly Father expects us to use the Atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ....it is not a one and done deal and there is no limit on the number of times you are allowed to use it. The book is called "The Continuous Atonement" by Brad Wilcox, you can find it on DeseretBook.com. BTW, I have recently become active again and I am in the same boat as far as trying to put my life in order to get my recommend so that I can go back to the temple. I have taken comfort in some of the talks I have heard recently from the General Authorities about accepting trials and actually being grateful for the opportunities to grow that hardships bring. I wish you well on your journey.
