  1. Thats not just unique to Utah, here where I live in we have very liberal state assemblyman (PA's equivalent to the house) who keeps on getting reelected as Republican because people don't pay attention to such small political figures, and usually vote straight party lines anyways. It's always sad when I feel I have to vote for the lesser of two evils. But that is what it has all come down to over the years isn't it? Or you could vote third party, knowing your vote won't count for much. Or you could do what I did at last years election, I though all 3 candidates for state senator where terrible, so I did a write in vote for "Jon Stewart" Boy voting sounds more appealing by the moment.

  3. I figured this was going to be the answer, but felt obliged to ask. This is is pretty much a mirror statement of the same flawed logic and generalizations that says: "your not voting your faith if you don't vote for Republicans, because they oppose abortion, gay marriage, stem cell research, or whatever the social issue du jour is" Also isn't Provo in district 2? The same district that has elected a Democrat since the early 90's, the only Democrat in congress from either The House or the Senate from the state? So then if I am all for stem cell research who do I vote for without voting Democrat? That is probably one of the issues of the Republican party that I disagree with. But to vote Democratic...no way. There have been teasers on tv about the tv show House. House is walking down the corridor with the hospital administrator. She asks...where did you come from? He said...from apes if you believe the Democrats. I found it hilarious.
  4. Applicant #1. I know a little spanish, but mostly just automotive terms. Oh, and of course, some of the more common cuss words. I think we would probably get along for a week, Ben. It's definitely a thought. Does that mean I'm not considered an applicant? hahahaha Much as I would like to, Pam, and I know you deserve consideration, as I stated before, My wife, your sister, would probably put her foot down if I were to take any woman I was not legally married to. I know, it's not fair, but I think it's rule I would have to abide by if I wanted a home to stay in when I returned. But I love you anyway, in a brother-in-law/ sister-in-law sort of way. Awww that is the nicest thing you've ever said to me in 20 years.

Awww Come back from where John Doe? My feelings are now hurt jd.
  6. Just a little bit of history. For the last few years my wife has worked for a company and gone to their yearly convention out of town. When she has done that, I have also taken the week off form my first job and worked on projects around the house, essentially spending my vacation time working. Sometimes it has seemed as if I really had no vacation at all, between pulling shifts at my second job, dealing with the kids and school, and hurrying to get something done before she gets home. It sometimes has been a relief to go back to work and rest. This one time, I want to go away and forget about life. I don't want to be reminded of what I forgot to do or needs to be done at home, or hear about which kid down the street offended one of my kids. I just want to disappear and generally be unreachable for long periods of the day and just do things for ME. I need ME time. And if my wife doesn't want to come, share and spend some WE time as part of my ME time, well, I wish she would, but it won't ruin my life if I spend a week doing what I want to do without her for a change. I rarely ask her for time off to go out with the guys and do guy things. It happens maybe one or two times a year. So this one time, if she doesn't want to go, it's not the end of the world for me or us. I'll just find some guy to take her place and we'll do guy things for a week. I understand there is a baja buggy track down there where you can rent buggies and go blasting around a track all day. That sounds like fun to me. Or I have always wanted to experience deep-sea fishing, something she would not even consider doing with me. Or I could just go to the beach and laze around all day in the sun, sipping on virgin Coronas, looking at the sights. May I also add something to this. Just a little over a month ago, while JD had one of his week "vacations" while his wife was out of town at a convention....my car broke down. Stranded off of one of the local highways. JD dropped everything to go meet my son who was with the car. He then used his "vacation" time to go back into his shop to repair my car. He for sure needs a vacation for "ME" time. He works hard both at 2 jobs and at home. I think his wife just needs to give in a little, compromise and do it for him.

  8. Tis true Snow. Very sad. There was to be a candlelight vigil tonight but that turned into a memorial vigil. It included a harp playing by Elizabeth Smart.
  9. Isn't the abbreviation for apartment apt? For appointment appt? Have I been mistaken all these years?
  10. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW I can't get past the smell. Too bad. I understand the fragrance is going to permeate the Celestial Kingdom. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......that was a good one PC Then I'm not going.
  11. Same with me. I wouldn't use something like this for books.

  13. This is coming from an experience I had at work tonight. I apologize to all the mothers who raised such dumb children that they can't read signs on machines that say "Please do not use" and they press the buttons anyway. Then accuse me of not doing my job.
  14. Just keep an open mind. Like others have said...ask lots of questions. That's what they are there for. I wish you the best of luck with your discussions. And yes as Snow said...keep us updated as to how things are going.
  15. Okay I'm going to address the working on Sunday portion. There is nothing that says we are forbidden or that it is taboo to work on Sunday. It is suggested and recommended not to when feasible. For those that play Sports, it is their job and for some those games lie on Sunday. What about those that provide public service? Police, nurses, doctors etc. Are they to be condemned because they work on Sunday? I think not. I am a single mom with 3 teenagers and sometimes my job requires me to work on Sunday. Does that make me a bad person? Gosh I hope not.
  16. My daughter went through the same thing. Missed by 14 days. It worked out well for her though she will be graduating when she is almost 19. But that's okay too.
  17. I would like to apologize to my mattress for ripping off that "Do not remove by penalty of law" tag. I truly am sorry.
  18. I just have a long ignore list Though I do think it is rather sad that I've even put some mods on my ignore list at times. Also I don't think I've ever put a non-LDS poster on ignore, shouldn't we be setting the example? Just my 2 cents. I only have a few posts and I'm still kinda new, so I'm not even sure if my thoughts count.. No wonder you NEVER respond to my pm's.
  19. It is it Dr T and no disagreeing with us about it.

  21. Pam that is because you and I are here! Oh and a few other SWEETIES!!! Oh sheesh I forgot. Thanks for reminding me.
  22. Okay I'm just making an observation here. But there are many posts about contention and ugliness and such...yet the same people making all of these statements keep coming back. Even though there are mentions of "other" sites. Hmmmmm
