  1. Vort are you BYU alumni? Yes, depending on where you are in Utah, Reds vs. Blues is a big fat deal.
  2. The further east coast you go, it seems Mormonism is a special breed.
  3. I agree it's a gray area when it comes to wearing or not wearing garments. It certainly isn't black or white because there *are* times when removing them is appropriate or necessary. Members should use their best judgement.
  4. Mormons have agency to do whatever they want whenever they want. But to live the gospel, there are things followed, such as commandments and the Word of Wisdom. Otherwise, things like watching TV, dancing, listening to rock music, Internet dating, are all fine
  5. Gotta beware those stereotypes. Reality hath ended many a marriages.
  6. The very first time we considered taking our daughter, we were sceptical, and did the dollar cinemas for the first few. She did great! She wasn't fussy, we didn't have to take her out. Sometimes daddy will hold her, but most of the time she prefers to watch from her own seat. Now, if she was disruptive or showed no interest in watching movies in a cinema setting, we wouldn't take her. But she does well and we've been to the cinema many times now.

  9. PC, if I didn't know you, I would have guessed you were Mormon, as you seem to share some same beliefs. I'd be interested in your responses to Vort's post, though!

  11. I also think Catholics tend to be involved in a lot of charity work.

    I confess

Yeh, vegetarians tend to eat lots of veggies, even the not so popular kinds! I confess I won't answer the door if it's someone soliciting something.
  13. Welcome!
  14. Never thought much about it. My mother was raised Catholic and I attended Catholic school for a couple years as a young child but I don't know much about your practices or traditions. The biggest thing I associate with Catholics is the Pope. I've also had the opportunity to travel and see some pretty astounding Catholic cathedrals and churches. I guess one perception of mine is that Catholics have no lenience when it comes to birth control and are outright against it. That was something that was always brought up and emphasised on.

Ohhh! Gotcha "Air quality". Yeh, not too bad, especially when one remembers the Beano.

I confess I love artichokes, cabbage, spinach and broccoli!
  18. Never thought of this. The responses are intriguing.
  19. PC, this isn't your wife is it? Maybe I'm going nutty but I thought you'd mentioned she's Korean? Lucky for me, my husband had a mother that whipped him and his brothers into fine shape, ensuring they knew how to cook and clean up after themselves. It is such a blessing. Even though his mother drives me crazy, I am grateful for the things she taught him.
  20. We've covered this before. Loving unconditionally and forgiving someone doesn't mean you allow them to step all over you, or that you allow yourself to fall back into a situation where you're setting yourself up for risk or failure. You can unconditionally love and forgive someone without having them actively in your life. Sometimes it's better this way. Also, in response to the latter comment, I think one should be extra cautious as to not convince themselves that they can "save someone" because none of us have that power.
  21. I wonder why more people don't make snowcones out of snow...

I confess I would sleep in for a few extra hours if my schedule permitted.

  24. What the heck is eating you? You sound bitter, gees. I asked a question because your previous posts read like "eye rolls". See ya, Anatess.
  25. I don't remember Amelia Earhart. So I'm pretty sure we skipped two.
