I feel there is honesty and that's great. I don't think it's okay to portrait or hide something that we are not. We are humans. We make mistakes, Latter Day Saints and all. Just like in our doctrine (past and present) I think others value it more when we are open and honest about it rather than try to cover it up because it may hurt someone's feelings. By doing that (covering it up, hiding) unfortunately, we create the opposite effect that the one we intended. As long as the topics are discussed with respect, I think is great.

But why Adomini? Why is it that the perception is that we are free to question and welcome to do so by the GA and yet the local leadership seem to discourage it? I think most of the time we follow things based on tradition or church culture but not necessarily doctrinal.

Not sure. I think its possible to obey the commandments and yet not prosper in the land for so many other external factors. We all have challenges and some have specific ones that they will endure the rest of their lives so I dont think is so black and white.

My solution is NO SLEEPOVERS. Whether they are leaders or not makes no difference to me. Unfortunately in the world we live in makes no difference.

You mean, I am in a restaurant...a complete stranger to this people, they look at me for an answer (my assumption) and somewhat I feel pressured to give one? Sorry, not me. Long ago I learned you do not get involved in people's private life (particularly people you don't know) because you never know the whole story. You are only seeing the consequence but not the road that took the three of them to be in that position.

In my opinion they should be called by the name of their Church, whatever that name may be. If we want the same respect from others, we should do the same. It is only fair.

I think your opinion pretty much falls in line with what President Joseph F. Smith said: I think for every counsel we receive, we should pray about it and receive confirmation IMHO.

I just saw this thread, hope isnt too old to bring it alive again. :) I am trying to understand is: If we believe the prophets are not infallible then why is it "dangerous" to question their counsel?

Like I always say, we never know the whole story. However, a Bishop can only encourage.

But what are we assuming that Heavenly Father won't take that sealing seriously? I mean I ask because of the comments that he will not allow us to be "stuck" to someone we cannot stand. That's the whole PURPOSE for sealing AND cancellation of sealing folks.

I do not have the answers that you are looking for so I won't attempt to give my own view in such sensitive topic however I want to extend my love and prayers to you and your particular situation.

How can we really judge intentions? I know I can't. Its funny that you mentioned holier than thou because I find that in more than one occasion when a person politely declines to drink coke for example, there is always someone in the group who thinks the person is trying to be holier than thou. Sometimes it is not the other person's issue but our own.

Hahaha. You're something else. To be honest, I dont see anything contentious about his point. He just seems passionate about it and people took it the wrong way. Not everything must be agreeable and served with sweet and honey. Sometimes when debating is taking place you need to be straightforward about a point.
