  1. Many times our testimony is likened to a plant. To keep it alive one must not only put it in good ground but must give it water and sunlight continually, otherwise it withers and dies. What causes a person to stop caring are many and varied... Perhaps they heard something unsettling about the church, perhaps a member rubbed thme the wrong way, perhaps they got distracted by worldly things or got caught up in sin, perhaps they stopped doing the small and simple things. Being agood friend or neighbor is probably a good start (and not just only on sunday).
  2. Bingo. However on the flipside as we progress and learn and become more charitable, polygamy also becomes more likely as well.
  3. It means that it should not be the stick of the priesthood you use to motivate people. I would say that those traits are about the only means of succsessful influence over people to a bishop. Should he choose a seperate route i dont think he will be succsessful for long.
  4. Yes it is before the final judgement... The question is how long before the final judgement. And yes if you could tell what kind of body you ressed with would probably be a decent hint.. Altho youd have a fairly good idea where you wre headed based on when you were resurrected too (altho id wager that you would find out in the spirit world even before then). Basically it will proceed in order from celestial to outer darkness folks... With the the outer darkness folks being resurrected just before the final judgement.
  5. it can be. If the abuser isn't willing to work towards a solution, then it would probably be more justified for a divorce. No idea where the line would be, i imagine it's probably different to every situation. When addiction hits abusive or abuse by negligence levels. your hypothetical situation itself would not be grounds for divorce, however a situation like that usually will spiral out of control and become a bigger problem involving further issues (such as your second part)... which certainly can be.
  6. there is somewhat of one. while i'm sure the being frugal admontions do play a part in it, there being so many credit card companies who want to screw you over probably also adds to it.
  7. not surprised.
  8. i've seen it a few times on facebook. it is a bit facetious and poking at the "give a man a fish...." saying.
  9. the bodies won't, the spirits will. both make up a person
  10. Im still in the stone age of microsoft word, powerpoint, and excel....sorry.
  11. Thanks for sharing! <hugs to you>
  12. Possibly, i agree you cant just do them willy nilly, and also in the end God sets the terms, however it would seem to me that if ones heart and will is in the right place, one can set the direction. (abraham comes to mind). Kind of a harmony. Just going from what ive observed. And there is likely more to it that i dont know well yet.
  13. he did. but he also gave them clothes. He also made it so that we reproduced by means of sex yet some of the strongest commandments he's given revolve around its use.
  14. I know people who've made promises with God in exchange for A they would do B, and God came through for them (in turn they were obligated to do their end of the deal). So I don't doubt that there are, however beyond what is administered by the priesthood within the church is going to be between someone and God. as for Covenants that are necessary for salvation and etc.. those are already being handled by the priesthood in the LDS church. at least all the ones that are necessary for us to have in this life in today's world. i also note that there's nothing i know that says that all covenants made must only partain to our salvation in the life to come
  15. Indeed

  20. I hate back seat drivers. Id probably ask him when was the last time he gave all his money to the poor. as to the question, if you are bilding a throne for God, would you use anything less than the best? We use money both for temples and for the poor.

  22. Absolutely. As long as you are being honest with the stake president or whoever is doing the interview then you have all your bases covered.
