  1. I got a gift from one of the women in RS. Actually, I think she's the Stake RS President now. She gave me "Another Testament - Reflections of Christ" which is a photo book by Mark Mabry along with a tiny pencil set and a bookmark. It's a great book.
  2. Oddly, I like making my own decisions rather then having them made for me. I like the freedom of making my own trek to the Thai market to pick out food oddities, and I like the freedom of choosing the beef that is slaughtered in a way I think is humane. Frankly, forcing cattle to eat corn so they're fattened up in less than a year instead of a few years, and killing them before their digestive system shuts down entirely is pretty inhumane. Of course, I took my lunch to school so it wouldn't have mattered anyway. It's someone else's freedoms right? And doesn't affect mine at all. This time.
  3. Sorry, my brain doesn't calculate very well sometimes. These meds are frustrating sometimes.
  4. Personally, I've gone years without a professional haircut, and I buy Suave shampoo because it's only 99 cents. So for myself --not very much.
  5. I think it's kind of outrageous that a community that is 7% Muslim can dictate what the other 93% eat when we can barely provide healthy lunches for the 100% of each community that require healthy lunches. I won't buy a hotdog that isn't Kosher, but that's my own decision. I also go out of my way and spend extra money on organic grass-fed beef. I think that would be 100% healthier for everyone else, but I don't presume to dictate what others eat. Well, except for my husband.
  6. I feel like the only one freaked out by things like this and the Mosque at Ground Zero, etc. I don't know what people are thinking. Despite every protest and anger, these things are just done, seemingly without anyone's approval. Halal-only menu for London primary schools sparks row | News | The Christian Institute School meals go halal in London | The Australian I've included two links, because I'm not sure which of the foreign sources is a viable source for information.
  7. Welcome to the forum Marie!
  8. I'm sure the bags don't suck in. I know someone else here said they did, but I'm sure they don't. The oxygen is absorbed, but that doesn't vacuum the air out. I have a lot of beans in 1/2 gallon jars that I've sucked the air out of, but the glass is heavy and runs the risk of being broken. I'm not sure I'd recommend that for someone else. I know I won't do any more that way.
  9. Well at least we aren't discussing this on Fast Sunday.
  10. Schezuan, and I'd throw it over for Thai. Although Hunan is good. Hmmm. Nah, Thai.
  11. Although I really hate to spend the extra money, I have actually started buying cans of dried beans from the cannery. They're not all THAT expensive, considering everything. And there is no hassle. You stack the box in a corner. Yorkie, how long were you planning on your beans for storage? Did you want to put these in the back for 10 years, or are they just a year's worth?
  12. That was good.
  13. I could have gone my whole life without knowing this.
  14. Beer and girlie movies every night? That's not an interest a new husband needs. I'm all for men having interests. I've had to push my husband into school and church activities and everything to get him out from in front of the TV and doing something. He's never hung out with his friends, but if it ever became a nightly issue, I'd say something. Loudly.
  15. Melissa, that was just painful to read. My husband would have come home from Duke's to an empty house until he worked on his priorities.
  16. It gets worse when they start having kids.
  17. Welcome to the forum! You'll get the hang of it quick enough.
  18. This is why I have not even opened that thread. LOL!
  19. Well, I continue to search, looking for clues or "proof", but I have to keep telling myself that all that work has been done before me, and it's kind of pointless. It's time better spent on something else.
  20. Someone who is still in the church would be less likely to be biased since they are likely seeking the answers for themselves as well. Those that have left the church entirely would think they'd found their answer (or the lack thereof.)
  21. Were they deleted by the poster? Personally, I know some people think I'm a wacko because I like Glenn Beck, but I can't help that. I'm not offended by people not liking Glenn to an extreme extent. I would go, but I live in California, so I tend to stay home.
  22. I think this response belongs in the Glenn Beck thread where they're discussing faith without works. ... or not.
  23. We're Americans. As soon as we're inconvenienced (or ticked) we kick into high gear. We'll have that grid replaced the first year.
