@Just_A_Guy's hypothetical is extreme, but there's a point to be made, and I'm interpreting my own things. Are we getting so politically divided that some might reconsider a moral/ethical situation just to snub the opposite party?

I tend to agree with this for the most part. Generally I think people are more alike than not.

There were republicans who warned everyone about this way back in 2016. No one listened.

Which is odd, given that Mormonism is (arguably) the most American faith.

In one respect, the primary source of the GOP’s woes right now is the Trump personality cult.  Trump himself can’t win mainstream Americans (who, one hopes, are finally starting to see the results of the sort of intersectional politics that the Dems are beholden to, and would probably be open to a not-insane Republican).  If any other GOP candidate gets the nomination, the Trump rump won’t turn out for the nominee and (s)he’ll likely lose.
Trump’s legacy will be GOP party losses (and a stalemate/muted victory or two) in what should have been the very winnable years of 2018, 2020, 2022, and 2024.
But in another respect:  The Ohio abortion vote yesterday reminds us that we live in a country that has overwhelmingly embraced sex-without-consequences—and is willing to kill for it.  Latter-day Saints can never be truly at home in such a nation.
As for your last paragraph—I don’t know what “sustain your elected officials” even means.  I’m certainly not plotting rebellion; but I don’t owe my elected officials the sorts of deference or support that the word “sustaining” typically connotes among Latter-day Saints.

I spent Saturday morning in the laundry room. Folding clothes, organizing the shelves, watching Harry Potter theory videos on Youtube while I did all of this.
    It was wild.

Oh my goodness. I actually experienced it this morning so I can totally have an opinion. I usually sleep right through it. But I was curious to whether or not I truly had experienced it so I sat watching my phone for like 15 minutes to see what happened after 1:59 am.
    Was it entertaining? Eh...

I am a professional entertainment writer.
I also have an MBA and have, for all intents and purposes, been trained in psychological warfare.
    That being said -
While the film made a pretense of being an investigation into the phenomenon of near-death experiences, the structure of the film and the way various elements are arranged violate the basic tenets of how a documentary film should be. In particular, the way everything is set up nudges the viewer towards a generalized Protestant understanding of the afterlife, such that one can argue the film is in a way propaganda.

    However...
One of the people who they interviewed did describe an experience in a place he referred to as "outer darkness", so make of that what you will...

Procrastinate long enough and you won't need to see the movie.

Not my ward but the ward/stake over, the bishop would probably be in some hippy communist commune in the woods if it weren't for his love of guns. He's the most liberal man I know (friends with his wife). And yet he is still a bishop of a ward in Utah.

A couple wards back, we had a liberal bishop.  But he was the sweetest kindest man I'd seen in a long time.  The entire ward loved him.  But I kinda felt like he was reticent to say anything political because of the backlash (we are in Texas after all).
Today, we have a few families who are pretty liberal.  But we're all polite.  I do feel sad, though.  One of the families are ready to break up.  It's early enough that others don't see it.  But the mother has all but announced that she is bisexual beginning to move into full lesbian zone.  So, I see a divorce some time in the future.  And they are a great family too!  The father is one of my best friends in the ward.
I just think it's sad that they're about to break up because of this.

I legitimately think there is, at least in some social circles, an expectation to have sex early in the courtship. I even heard someone say that a girl not interested in sex on Date 1 was a red flag.
That being said, I think there is a positive with the more recent cycles of sexual expression where this idea of early sex is being pushed back upon if a person doesn't want it.
I kind of laughed at your anectdote about what the local "Church" has become. When I was working for the Scouts back in the day, our office was located on a hill off the main highway, and the Catholics decided to build this gorgeous-and-huge church across the street from us. Now that is perfectly visible from the highway, and it looks like a church! Stained glass windows, a steeple, a cross, what more do you want?
So when I was on the phone trying to explain to someone where we were located, I was surprised to find that saying "and when you see the big church, turn" just confused people (and no, saying the actual name of the street didn't work, either).
Now, it's probably because this was in Utah, and this church didn't look like the local ward chapel. But I feel something has been lost in the cultural/community definition of church.

There was a bishop in my former ward who was a former democratic congressmen. He was sort of a “moderate democrat” but without question the kindest and most Spirit filled man I ever met.
