I saw a link to this one, and it looks cool, but after reading the customer reviews, I wonder if it may not be the best one out there for my needs. What do you guys think? Is it worth the money?
-
Well, since this is all about who you are sealed to, I wouldn't worry too much. No one will be forced to spend eternity sealed to someone they don't wish to be sealed to.

That's kind of tough for anonymous people on the internet who know nothing more than the 3 sentences you wrote. Plus, most of us on this site are not really legal experts even though sometimes we do play them on the internet. I suggest you contact someone closer to the situation or in the legal profession and provide them with much more information than what you have given us. One question you should probably ask yourself is whether you really want to know the answers or even care at this point. I mean, it was over 40 years ago, will it really change anything in your life or your future by knowing whether the adoption was legal or not?

Well, at least the shorts cover the knees now on most of them. It was soooooo distracting in Danny Ainge's day.

Dash: Please don't claim to be a BYU fan anymore. Your derisive comments about BYU whenever the subject comes up show quite the opposite. Your posting history of castigating BYU at every turn while also showing complete ignorance of the facts and without even attempting to understand their position shows how false your claims to being a fan are. Your admission of being a Utah fan as well yet refuse to hold them to the same standards that you hold BYU to tell a lot about where your true allegiance lies. You might be a casual observer who catches the scores and highlights on the nightly newscast and listens to his Yewt coworkers who deride anything BYU, but that doesn't make you a fan. Your sense of self-righteousness aside, a true fan would know how to spell the name of their team's star senior running back within a couple of letters. If you need a link to the full team roster, PM me. While BYU's current football team is not great, the program as a whole has done very well for itself. They have won 10 or more games 4 out of the last 5 years and have had losing seasons only 6 times since 1970. I'd call that pretty good in the grand scheme of things, but you go ahead and spin it as negatively as you can, okay? I'd call that pretty good myself. Sure, you can say that was against poor teams of the WAC and MWC, but those are the exact same teams that you are mad about BYU leaving the MWC to become independent. So which is it, are you upset about their record against crappy teams in their conference, or the fact that they left that crappy conference?

Can I handle living in a high Mormon population area?
john doe replied to Blocky's topic in Advice Board
Yeah, I can't think of any Utah LDS kids who have testimonies or challenges. Well, except for the ones I've actually known. -
Does being religious make you more judgemental?
john doe replied to Suzie's topic in General Discussion
So you're saying that being judgemental of judgemental people is justified judgementalism? That it's okay to be judgemental of judgemental people? Interesting concept. -

I find it funny that everyone is so judgemental of judgemental people. They can point out everyone else' flaws but they think they are without fault or stumble all over themselves excusing their own actions and words. -
No. But it is nice to go to work and not have to hear Utah fans bragging about how well they did against the dregs of the PAC10+2.

temple worker... to be or not to be?
john doe replied to sister_in_faith's topic in General Discussion
I said I was curious, not being judgemental. From your postings it is obvious that your situation is not normal or conventional. But let's look at it from a normal point of view, shall we? In the normal LDS world your situation is considered highly unusual. It is not normal for a person to be cleared for baptism if they are an adult living in the same dwelling with an adult of the opposite, regardless of whether they are sexually active or not. Add the fact that you call yourself common-law married adds another element to the abnormality of the story. I have never run across someone who claims to be in a common-law relationship that doesn't also cross the lines of the Law of Chastity. And yeah, I'm sorry if the term 'shacking up' is offensive to you, but that is what common-law marriage is. Unrelated adults who live together without the benefit of a proper marriage are considered to be shacking up by most normal people in the world. If that's offensive to you, then I really can't help it, it is what it is. And then when you add in the fact that you seem to be sufficiently able to be out and about that you say you are going to the temple and are considering being a temple worker, and a normal person has to ask himself questions. Questions like how it is that you can go through the temple and consider yourself able enough to think about being a temple worker, yet you aren't able to give yourself medications and thus need someone to live with you to administer them to you. You have to admit to yourself that to a normal person, those things don't quite add up. A normal person would ask themselves what's going on. Especially when someone pops up on an anonymous message board talking about very specific unconventional and highly unusual situations. There are holes here that have not been filled, and as I said, I was curious how it all came about. -

I'm curious. How is it that you go to the temple and are also shacked up as related in the other thread? http://www.lds.net/forums/marriage-relationship-advice/42506-something-nice.html#post623631 It seems to me that in most places you can't get a temple recommend if you are living with someone. Unless I misunderstood and your definition of being in a common-law relationship is different from mine. -

Girls snubbed him, but he won in the end!
john doe replied to shine7's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
Lenny Kravitz covered it later, but I don't think the sentiment is shared among most American men. Maybe they sing that song a lot in China? Is there a problem over there with snobby American women? Personally I have found a variety of personality traits among American women and that snobs are few and far between. I know of this one guy online who has complained long and loudly about his Canadian wife and the way she treats him. According to him she is almost Cruella DeVille. But I secretly think he really likes the way she treats him like dirt, which is why he doesn't leave her. I'm of the opinion that you can find all kinds and types of people in just about every race and culture in the world. -
Mayan 2012 apocalypse vs. Boyd K Packard
john doe replied to mikbone's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Packard, you say? Hmm, I don't remember hearing him. I did hear Elder Packer though, and he made some good points which are sure to raise the hackles of those who insist on continuing their sinful ways. -
The answer to most of your questions is: Yes.

john doe replied to shine7's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
Are you implying that men don't engage in the same thing? I'm not so sure that men seek out the poor, ugly, uneducated, social outcast women any more than women do that with men. Men as a rule go for the best woman they can get, just as women do. On the flip side, whenever you make the argument that someone 'married up', the same argument can be made that the person they married, 'married down'. So it follows that just as many people 'marry down' as 'marry up'. The number can't be unequal. Do you have any reliable numbers that would show that more women engage in 'marrying up' than men? I know we've seen your assertions, but a link to a source for your idea would be nice. -

You and Warren Buffett. Oh that's right, he doesn't pay his taxes, does he? If you two could get George Soros on board with paying extra you could put a sizable dent in the national debt. Then we could afford to pay for these extras you guys want us all to have. -

I can fix it if you want. I don't like people yelling in these forums. -
I'm of the opinion that it refers to the fact that in the end there will be two factions: those who are believers in Christ, and those who fight against Him. Jesus said that if you are not for Him, you are against Him. There will be no fence-sitters or sideliners allowed. If you are not engaged in His good cause, then you are de facto allowing Satan to win.

I blame George Bush, Conservatives, and the Military-Industrial complex. Mainly because Liberals are never a part of the problem, or even contribute in any way to it.
